24.01.2022 Our standardised education system suppresses creative thinking. By perceiving standardised testing results as an important education goal, we are damaging the future of our country. Professor Yong Zhao performed a research on the relationship between the rank countries received on the programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) vs how well these countries perform as leading in innovation. Professor Zhao found a significant negative relationship between PISA performa...nce and indicators of entrepreneurship. Countries with higher PISA scores have fewer people confident in their entrepreneurial capabilities. Professor Zhao’s research has shown that creative entrepreneurship and test-driven curriculum standardization are contradictory to each other. Standardized testing rewards the ability to find the correct answer and therefore discourages creativity, which drives innovation. For the benefit of our children and the future of our country, it is time to change the priorities at our education system. It is time to help children develop the life skills which help them thrive today and in the future. #education #futureofeducation # #innovation #entrepreneurship #learning #educationforfuture #educationsystem #educationandschools

19.01.2022 The secret lies not in what you look at, but in what you can see. When you develop and practice your creative thinking, suddenly you will see things that others can't. With your unique creative thinking, you will be able to imagine new ways. Look at the picture below. What can you see? Let your imagination run wild. Don’t limit your creative thinking. Do you see A garbage pile?... Swings? Material for building roads? Soft landing at the playground? An obstacle course? Material to fill in potholes in the roads? Lots of garden beds? What can you see? You can do this fun activity to develop creative thinking, with the children you care for. You can take any object or a photo of a situation and ask - What can you see? #creativity #creativethinking #ideas #innovation
16.01.2022 As the incredible story about a giant ship stuck at the Suez Canal is ending, it's an opportunity to share a story about a stuck truck. Sometime back, a truck driver tried to pass under a low bridge and got the truck’s trailer stuck underneath this bridge. The height clearance for the bridge was 14 0 and the truck was 14 6. As traffic was piling up behind it, police officers have arrived at the scene. They were thinking how to solve this problem. They called a fire truck ...to help with the situation. Different people came up with different ideas to get the truck unstuck, based on their field of expertise and way of thinking. Some said there is a need to dismantle the truck, some thoughts of ways to chip away the bridge. As they were standing there and contemplating on these ideas, a child from a car that got stuck at the scene came over and said why wont you let the air out of the tiers? Creative thinking is about breaking free from fixed thinking and looking at a problem from many different perspectives. How can you look at a problem you work on from different perspectives? Share this story with your children/students (But don't share the child's solution) and see what ideas they will come up with, to solve this problem. #creativethinking #ideas #problemsolving #problemsolvingskills #creativity #innovation

11.01.2022 There is one habit that you have, which stops your creative thinking. Most people do it automatically, not realising its sabotaging their creativity. We are talking about critical thinking. As a society, we placed critical thinking on a pedestal. Unfortunately, it stands there all alone. Without creative thinking. Critical thinking and creative thinking are two different types of thinking which are equally important. But they must be used separately.... We see it happens over and over again; at the workshops we facilitate. It is the same behaviour whether the participants are children or adults. When participants are asked to come up with ideas, instructed not to evaluate these ideas, people can’t help themselves. They immediately criticise every idea. Sometimes, they won’t share their ideas as they judge them in their heads and think their ideas are not good enough. This behaviour is a result of years of being trained to evaluate, reason, and justify everything. If you want to think creatively, you must let go of your critical thinking during that time. Give yourself a fair chance to be innovative with your thinking. Watch this video on this topic - https://youtu.be/Vms5wgdUmVY #creativity #creativethinking #ideas #innovation
07.01.2022 We live in a society which values success and perceives failure as something to avoid and be ashamed of. Due to this, as we grow up, we tie our self-esteem to our failures and develop a fear of failure. As part of our work at schools, we see children as young as 8 years old prefer not to take part in activities in order to avoid failing at these tasks. The good news is that adults and children alike can overcome the fear of failure and have happier life. Glittering Minds prep...ared a video on how to overcome it. Watch this video to help yourself and the children you care for, see failure as a learning experience and separate self-esteem from it- https://youtu.be/A7fXe18k-zo #bestyearever #confidencebuilding #selfesteemboost #fearoffailure #success #happier
