21.01.2022 As Melbourne finally opens up to visitors and workers it is great to see this new artwork by Stephen Banham (Letterbox) up on the northern section of Swanston St, near the City Baths. Conceived by Stephen pre Covid lockdowns but only just installed, this high vis coloured artwork Here There offers a continuous and playful typographic loop generating a sense of movement and repetition, and a consideration of where ‘here’ and ‘there’ might be and how we might move between the t...wo. Our perceptions of these abstract places have possibly changed over recent months as we have lived very much in the immediate here and now and local, with ‘there’ lying somewhere beyond and possibly out of reach. Curated by Global Art Projects for the Metro Tunnel Creative Program. by James Henry. @metrotunnelvic @letterboxtype @globalartprojectsmelbourne #metrotunnelcreativeprogram #globalartprojects #globalartprojectsmelbourne #typographicart #stephenbanham #letterboxtype #melbourne #hoardingart See more

07.01.2022 Happy New Year to all. Let’s hope 2021 is a vast improvement on 2020! Early last year we presented this wonderful exhibition by Melbourne artist Sadie Chandler. We had a great opening event (back when large openings were a thing!) but the exhibition space within Sofitel was closed to the public within a short time of the opening and only a limited number of visitors saw the show. The rest of our 2020 program was cancelled and this exhibition stayed up for the benefit of the ...few guests and staff accessing the space for the remainder of the year. Sofitel is back open to the public - in a covid safe way of course - and Sadie’s exhibition is still on display for a couple more weeks until we launch our new exhibition program in February 2021, including a major photographic installation as part of the Photo2021 festival, and new pieces by winners of the 2019 and 2020 Craft Fresh/Sofitel award for emerging craft and design artists. If you are in the Melbourne cbd, do drop in to see this great exhibition. @sadie.chandler @sofitelmelbourneoncollins @globalartprojectsmelbourne #sadiechandler #globalartprojects #globalartprojectsmelbourne #sofitelmelbourneoncollins #melbourneart #melbourneartist #womenartist

03.01.2022 The incredible ‘David Greybeard’ installation by artist Lisa Roet outside Arts Centre Melbourne. Celebrating the 60-year anniversary of Dr. Jane Goodall’s important scientific research into chimpanzees. What a great art project raising awareness of humans relationship with nature, our connection to our closest animal relatives and the impact of climate change on animal habitats around the world. A fantastic project - well done to all involved. Wouldn’t it be great to see this fabulous site used for other amazing temporary art installations? @lisaroet @artscentremelbourne @cityofmelbourne @creative_vic @davidgreybeardtour #publicart #melbourneart #melbourneartist #artandenvironment #artandnature #lisaroet #artscentremelbourne
