24.01.2022 IMPORTANT NOTICE: The government in recent news has introduced a mandatory face coverings for Melbourne and Mitchel shire from this Wednesday, 22nd of July at 11:59pm. In this post we will break it down for families and talk about how it will affect our centre routine. Melbourne and Mitchell Shire residents will be required to wear masks in public spaces and outside the home. ... There will be a $200 fine for residents caught outside without appropriate face covering or masks. Staff will be wearing masks at drop off and pick up times when collecting children from the drop off and pick up points. This is due to the close proximity of adult to adult contact during these times, especially with young babies. Families are also required to wear masks at these points as required by the government. Early childhood services are not required to wear masks while teaching, but our centre will require our educators to wear masks when in spaces like the staff room or foyer unless social distancing can be applied. Children under the age of 12 are not required to wear masks. If you are struggling to find masks let our staff know or send us an email and we will do our best at obtaining one for you. The use of a scarf or bandana is also recommended and are perfectly fine for drop off and pick up times. Cleaning measures will be continued and social distancing will be put in place where possible. If you have any other questions, dont hesitate to ask a staff member or comment on the post.

24.01.2022 Today the children joined an educator at the table to observe the results of their recent science experiment. In this experiment we had 3 eggs submerged into three different liquids, milk, juice and coke for 24 hours. This experiment was introduced for the children to explore dental hygiene. We looked at how various foods and liquids could affect our teeth if we didnt wash them properly. Children made hypothesis and observed the outcome. Watch below the video of the child...ren discussing with their educator about their hypothesis and observations. Photos in the comments of results.

24.01.2022 Next Friday the 17th of July, we will be celebrating National Pyjama Day with the children. This celebration raises awareness and funds for children in foster care. Together we can support little kids with big dreams!

24.01.2022 Yesterday something very exciting happened in the centre after an educator had found some snails in our garden. We collected the beautiful bugs and placed them in a temporary observable home for the children. After some time it seems the snails had laid EGGS! How exciting! An incredible learning experience for the children. Today the snails have been invited into their new temporary home, for the children to watch more closely over a period of time, this home is a little bit more roomier! Hopefully we get to see some babies soon! According to the web it might take up to four weeks!

23.01.2022 Dear Children from the Babies, Toddlers, Pre-Kinder, Kinder Room and their families, How is everybody doing at home? We understand why it is safer for you to stay home with your families especially during this situation, but we cant help missing all of you here in Glorykids! We would like to hear the exciting things that you had been doing at home with your family. Easter is approaching. We wonder if the Easter Bunny going to visit us this year. We did found an egg with a sp...ecial message in the room yesterday from the Easter Bunny. What are you going to do for Easter? Do you have a new favourite pastime that you enjoy doing at home? What was it? Do you miss your friends or educators? Some suggestion of activities for the parents/families to do with their children at home: Easter egg hunt! Visiting virtual museums at home! https://museumsvictoria.com.au/melbournemuseum/at-home/ Watch animal live stream from Melbourne Zoo. https://www.zoo.org.au/animal-house Cooking activities with the family. Talk about the importance of healthy eating and keeping our body healthy and strong. Bring out the board games such as snakes and ladders! 23.01.2022 Dear families, In the mist of the Coronavirus outbreak in the world, we are taking any necessary steps as a precaution. In the centre, we will continue to ensure all toys and play area are clean and sanitised often to minimise any spread of disease.... If your child developed any symptoms of infection or sickness, please keep them at home until medical clearance is given by a medical practitioner. We understand it can be difficult but it is imperative that families preserve a focus not only on the well-being of their own child but also upon the well-being of other children and the child care professionals at the Service. The need for exclusion and the length of time a person is excluded depend on how easily the infection can spread, how long the person is likely to be infectious and how severe the disease can be. To protect the health of children and staff within the Service, it is important that children and staff who are ill are kept away from the Service for the recommended period. Our Educators and Staff are not medical practitioners and are not able to diagnose whether or not a child has an infectious illness. However, if an infectious illness is suspected, our Service may ask the family to collect their child from care as soon as possible or not bring the child to care. If you have families visiting from China or other affected countries, please contact us and we also advice you to keep your child at home for the duration of 2 weeks (The duration of incubation and contagious time for Coronavirus). Please refer to the links provided for more information: https://www.health.gov.au/healt/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov https://www.nhmrc.gov.au//attachm/ch55-staying-healthy.pdf Thank you for helping us to keep the children safe. 22.01.2022 Today is a day of remembrance for the ANZACs that landed at Gallipoli on the 25th of April 1915. These Australian and New Zealand soldiers formed part of an allied expedition to capture the Gallipoli peninsula, who now carry the pride of holding the title of the ANZACs. This day began as a day to remember the 8,709 soldiers that lost their lives in Gallipoli in WW1, but after WW2 it became a day where we remember all soldiers that have lost their lives for their country and... we pay our respects to them. Lest We Forget

21.01.2022 Our philosophy at Glorykids has always extended off the belief to prepare children for life outside childcare and big school. We know many parents often worry about these next big steps in their childs lives and so in reflection we just wanted to share a little about the skills and concepts we are trying to build a foundation for in your childs learning. Educators across Australia often hear Why cant my child count yet? or Why cant they write more words? and the fa...r too common Should I be worried?, the answers to these questions are no you shouldnt be worried because your child is focusing on other important concepts at this point in their life. They are learning to walk, communicate, feel and express themselves. While we do teach these mathematical, linguistic and practical concepts such as colour, letters, words and speaking, we also are encouraging children to learn about their identity, physicality, autonomy and how to express themselves creatively and emotionally. Below is an attached image of some of the things we hope to prepare the children for before their next move into big school as you can see being independent is crucial for this big step. 20.01.2022 The Department of Education, in partnership with Monash Community Health are excited to offer local families the opportunity for registration for this FREE online parent workshop, to support families in enhancing childrens positive start to school. Open to families with children in kindergarten. The workshop includes 2 X 2 hour online sessions which will unpack the meaning of being school ready and how to further support children in making that step.

19.01.2022 Cooper just like all his friends has been exploring learning at home. Earlier this week families were sent out activities to do at home, in particular this activity asked the children to explore a Virtual Zoo! Cooper did an amazing job at reacting to the animals in his household. Cooper created dramatic scenes and looked at size comparisons between himself and the animals. Looking at similarities and differences. Cooper well done on a terrific acting and learning experience... at home. Thank you so much for sharing your experience! If youd also like to explore these play activities and experiences at home, you can access them on the community page of your Storypark, where we have posted 3 activities a week for families at home.

19.01.2022 Just a reminder to parents and families that Glorykids will be closed next Monday, 8th of June, due to it being a public holiday. Enjoy your long weekend and stay safe

18.01.2022 Is throwback Tuesday a thing? It is now! As we continue to reflect on our implementation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture within our programme during reconciliation week, we cant help but look back at the children effectively embracing the culture during their free play. In this video, some of our children put their best singing voices and musical talent to the test by singing Inanay an indigenous Australian song using Aboriginal instruments. The song is i...n Yorta Yorta, here you can see the lyrics and the meaning behind the song: https://aussiechildcarenetwork.com.au//rhymes-and-s/inanay To sing along head to Soundplay Australia on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yxW57WzrTY

16.01.2022 Our family at Glorykids has been keeping busy these past few weeks, engaging in exploration, creative role play and building upon our development. Children have adapted to the quiet by involving themselves deeply into their learning and instigating their own play. We are so proud of these children! With lots of our Glorykids family at home, we have been putting a lot of effort (and patience) into transitioning to an effective online learning model. We have won the battle wit...h technology so far! These activities, videos and story times are all put there to ensure the best for these families and we love to see their faces when they share their learning at home with us! Here are photos with some of what we have been up to these past few weeks, share with us what you have gotten up to!

15.01.2022 Dear families, We had just received an updated information of the Novel Coronavirus from the Department of Education and Department of Health & Human Service. Snapshot of the info sheets from the DHS website: As of 1 February 2020, the case definition for a person suspected to have contracted novel coronavirus has been expanded. Any person who has an acute respiratory infection and has been in mainland China or has had close contact with a confirmed case of novel coronavirus ...in the 14 days prior to onset of illness should be tested for the infection. As a precaution, people who have been in mainland China (excluding Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) are advised to self-isolate if they were in mainland China on or after 1 February 2020, when the risk of human to human transmission across many provinces of mainland China was identified to have significantly increased. 15.01.2022 Notice about Coronavirus (COVID-19): Dear families and friends of Glorykids, we would just like to update you on what we as a centre will be doing to tackle this pandemic and how we will be approaching it in future. As a childcare, spreading of disease is and always has been a problem as children are likely to to be carriers and the chances of transmission increase due to children putting toys and hands in mouths and to the close proximity that the centre places them in even... while following department legislation and policy. We have taken these precautions to protect the community, our children, our families and especially our babies and elderly who are most at risk from this disease and virus. Changes to centre routine will be as follows; Increased rigorous cleaning schedule and checklist, using naturally based cleaning supplies unless after hours for increased disinfection. - Children are reminded to wash hands upon entering and leaving the centre to ensure a decreased chance of hands transmitted germs and bacteria enters or leaves the centre. - Hand sanitiser available at the entrances of centre and rooms for families, visitors and friends. - We advise that parents, families and children that have travelled overseas within the last 14 days, who show symptoms, who are unwell, or have been in contact with or at risk of coronavirus (COVID-19) to seek clearance or to stay at home. - Disinfection of toys and play equipment in both rooms and the yard and continued regular disinfectant of toys or equipment placed in mouths or at high risk of. We will remain open along with these strict alterations to daily centre routine to assist families who have no alternative care, this will continue until further information in regards to the virus is provided and reviewed or until advised by the department. We ask that parents and families play close attention to your story park accounts, emails and to this Facebook page for any sudden change in regards to any changes. Seek staff for more information on the matter.

14.01.2022 A second reminder to families and friends of Glorykids, that we will be closed tomorrow on Monday, the 9th of March due to it being a public holiday. Please enjoy the rest of your long weekend. Love your Glorykids family

12.01.2022 Hello family and friends of Glorykids, wed just like to share with you what we have been doing in association with Sorry Day (26.05.20) and National Reconciliation week (27.05.20 to 03.06.20). But first Id like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which I work and live, and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. I pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging. Sorry Day is an event that we continue to acknowledge and come ...forward to support our fellow aboriginals and the generations before them who were taken from their families and their mistreatment. National Reconciliation week follows the week after Sorry Day, it is a time for all Australians to learn and pay respects to the aboriginal culture, our shared histories and achievements. Its also an opportunity for all Australians to explore how they can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. Over the course of the week and into next week, children in our centre have been included in shared discussion about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. We have looked at their flags and the meaning behind them. We have explored their traditional art methods and educated ourselves on the traditional hunting techniques, dreamtime legends like The Rainbow Serpent, and the significance of a Yarning circle. https://youtu.be/b3TZOGpG6cM - Kevin Rudds "The Stolen Generation"

12.01.2022 Children across the centre over the last couple of weeks have been involved in lots of activities, but one of our favourites have been the long and educational journey that our chickens have taken us on. They began as everyday eggs that stayed warm in an incubator in our Pre-kindergarten room. Which truthfully started as quite uneventful, children still loved to listen to the incubator sounds and compare our fake home corner eggs to the ones inside. Strong observations by so...me of our children. The eggs starting pipping at their eggs and the process went as vastly as it came, children brought the beginning of the popping to the attention to educators when they saw that some of the eggs had small little cracks in them. These little cracks became, bigger and bigger until they broke and hatched a small and wet baby chick, one egg after another and we had an incubator full of them! As the chickens fluffed up we got their new home ready, feeling the differences in texture between the chicks feed and their bedding, discussing with the children the needs of the chicks which included warmth, comfort, food and water. Quite like us! Children helped where appropriate in getting the chicks new home ready and watched as they were transferred between homes. Over the week children observed and listened to the chicks and their chirps, which sparked amazing discussions and encouraged the children to mimic these chirps. This helped initiate a flow in learning with the children. We began by reading Fancy that! By Pamela Allen a fantastic conceptual childrens book writer. This book looked loosely at the life cycle of chicks, their appearance as a hen and a rooster, and their sounds. We focused on the life cycle with the children and extended off of a life cycle poster that came with the chicks in their eggs. We looked at the stages of a hen or roosters lives and how they got to where they were. Beginning with the egg (or the chicken as the saying goes) and moving into the pipping stage where the chicks hatch them selves out when theyre developed enough, we then move from chicks to hens or rooster and the cycle begins again with the laying of an egg. Children took from these discussions and assisted educators in making a life cycle poster of our very own! Using the childrens priceless artwork we divided the poster into these stages of life and had the children help in discussion and gluing it down. An amazing effort by the children and great discussion points! One of our children had a fantastic idea to make a chicken home of our very own, using dyed cotton balls as our make shift chicks and hay as our comforter. These children are so creative the only thing stopping them from taking out jobs now is a qualification and 20 more years of life experience, were safe for now! Phew . We will keep you updated on our creations when they come about! Love your Glorykids Family

04.01.2022 Just an update for friends and families of Glorykids, that our donations for bushfire affected communities and to our heroes at the CFA were a massive success. We raised $1,748 for disaster relief and recovery through the Australian Red Cross, an amazing $1,400 more than expected. We send thanks to our community, our families, our friends and our staff for their contributions. The love and contribution from this amazing community is just what our country needs at a time lik...e this. We wish all those affected by bushfires, drought or flood lots of hope and support. As an added thank you from the children in the centre, we have created some thank you gifts for our firefighters. Two paintings made to signify our gratitude and the strong diverse community that is Australia. Cooper one of our pupils visited the CFA in Hampton Park to deliver these gifts directly to our fire fighters, it was collected by fireman Chris who has visited our centre before. Hopefully our donation, words of thanks and gifts can keep our families and fire fighters strong in this time of crisis.

02.01.2022 Welcome Back to the families and children that have been returning back over the last couple of weeks, this pandemic has not made anything easy this year but we congratulate every single one of you especially the children for being so cooperative and patient during this time. While we loved the challenges that Glorykids@Home provided and the lessons we learned from it, I can definitely say that we prefer seeing your smiling faces in person. Welcome Back to our Glorykids family!

02.01.2022 We wish you all an early Mothers Day and we do so because of a lovely little experience the children initiated today! It started when one of the children found a nice yellow dandelion in the babies yard. This was extended by the children themselves as they decided to craft something for Mothers Day with what they had found, but soon realised they would need more natural materials to do so, What if we went into the kinder yard and collected some natural materials from there...? Asked the educator in which the children expressed their love for the idea. Children explored the yard, looking in the garden beds and on the grass for fallen petals, fallen leaves, dandelions and whatever else they could find! When we had found a significant amount, we returned to the babies yard where we would work together on a craft for Mothers Day to show our love and appreciation of all the hardworking mums at home, at the centre and guardians alike. Heres our journey and what we created!

02.01.2022 Music, Movement and Colour To get the children moving and to shake off those mid week blues we pulled out the parachute from its hiding spot in the supply cupboard. Everyone spread themselves around the parachute grabbing an edge where needed. We asked the children what songs they would like to sing, ABCD song said one, Baa Baa Sheep said another, we did both. As we sung with our heavenly voices we shook the colourful parachute to the tempo of the song. We continued th...is with more complex songs with slower and faster tempos, like the song sleeping bunnies, a children’s classic and favourite in the room, the song has slow tempo segments followed by fast tempo segments allowing the children to explore these tempos, during the slowest tempos children laid down to sleep like the bunnies in the song. We finished off with some crazy fast tempo songs, as per the children’s suggestion, requesting songs like Gummybear and Animal Freeze Dance! This experience challenges and builds on gross motor development, social development and is a medium that children can use to explore new topics, like the alphabet, tempo, animals and the list goes on! Despite the difference in age the children were exceptionally considerate and understanding of the littler ones. Awesome work children!
