19.01.2022 No TV here at Gluepot, so we rely on passing minstrels to entertain us in the evenings!! A bit of JS Bach on this occasion! These talented musicians set the place on fire!! In actual fact though, Clara and Daisy have been here this past week as volunteers doing some important environmental protection work on the reserve.

18.01.2022 Hi everyone, Gluepot Rangers again, Whilst bird numbers are low at present, quite a few species are being observed by volunteers and visitors who put in the search time. Its a great time to observe birds preparing nests before laying eggs, as the pictures of the Chestnut-rumped Thornbill reveal. The reptiles are are increasingly coming out of hibernation, with a Goulds Goanna being reported for the first time this spring. We are getting excited about the possibility of rai...n over the weekend, with 15-25 mm forecast by the BoM and possibility of thunderstorms. The plants deserve a big drink! Enjoy the pics, more shortly. [IW] See more

09.01.2022 Gluepot is opening again, however please be aware that there is still a fire burning on an adjacent property, and the next few days have some 40 degree maximums predicted. Please also only camp at Babbler campground, so that the Rangers can find you if the weather deteriorates. Next week looks more pleasant for visiting, at this stage.

08.01.2022 Hi everyone, the rain has arrived which is very welcome but will affect the roads. For the next week please phone the Rangers for the latest road accessibility, 0888928600, before you drive out to Gluepot.

07.01.2022 Yes, very happy to display our rain at Glupot.

07.01.2022 Spring time at Gluepot Reserve, and what a beautiful time to be volunteering as Rangers on this wonderful reserve. The birds are breeding and the reptiles are starting to emerge from hibernation. Eremophila bushes are flowering, with the Spiny-cheecked Honeyeaters & White-fronted Honeyeaters burying their beaks deep into the flowers for a feed. The Striated Pardalote has a grub in its mouth and is about to enter the nest hollow to feed hatchlings. The Mallee Ringneck was feed...ing on a succulent at the homestead. Mallee Dragons are out and about in the spinifex, and Bearded Dragons are out taking in the sun. .....love this season, with warmer weather & so much nature to observe. See more

05.01.2022 Dust storm at Gluepot Reserve.

04.01.2022 Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it has been necessary to close Gluepot Reserve to all visitors. This closure will remain in place until the end of the pandemic. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

03.01.2022 The unprecedented temperatures up to 48.6 degrees witnessed at Gluepot last week resulted in the deaths of many, many birds here. The appalling conditions caused unmitigated suffering as heat exhaustion took its toll. So many different species, even this hardy Raven, succumbed. This was not just a disaster for Gluepot birds alone. While there are limited water troughs here most of the rest of the Mallee has none. The catastrophic heat was an Australia-wide phenomena. On this scale millions of Australian birds may well have perished. Global warming victims.

03.01.2022 Carmel and Ted headed home yesterday after 2 months as Rangers at Gluepot. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication to Gluepot Reserve over the years.

02.01.2022 Track maintenance.
