Scandal was...ting millions of litres of water during Australia's worst drought | 60 Minutes Australia Published on Oct 27, 2019 For Australian farmers battling one of the worst droughts of all time, water is more precious than gold. So imagine being told that government authorities, whose job it is to manage our water, are actually wasting millions and millions of litres of it? Deliberately. That’s the reality on the upper Murray River where water that could save farmers is spilling over the banks. Last year alone, enough water to fill Sydney Harbour twice was lost. As Sarah Abo reports, it’s a national scandal unfolding in secret. But while farmers are being sold down the river by the bureaucrats, not everyone is losing. Corporate speculators trading in water are swimming in profits.

20.01.2022 I make no apologies for sharing these posts...farmers have had nothing but non factual accusations, insults, lies and been constantly attacked buy ignorant uneducated do gooders and the media continuously trying to stir the pot because it's obviously easier than going looking for a real story! Where are all these Greenies now? SAFE have gone quiet...Tucked up at home whilst the Farmer keeps the country running! It was so bad If asked what I did for a living I was embarrassed ...& nervous to say for the reaction I got...we got pretty low and often wondered why we were Farming because everyone thinks we're such bad people and destroying NZ but OH how that tractor wheel has turned! It's been hard for the "dirty farmer" to see a future in Farming until now. I hope all those that attacked farmers are tucking into some humble pie grown and produced by The Farmer cause is Tourism feeding you right now? #proudtobeafarmer #Stillthebackbone Well........the planes have stopped, cars have stopped, the world as a whole has pretty much stopped and the Co2 levels have dropped! Yet the farmers haven’t stopped. They’re still getting up to milk the cows , the lambing sheds are in full swing, the cattle are still being fed, the crops are being drilled, yet the CO2 has dropped. Maybe agriculture isn’t quite as bad as the media have been making out .... maybe the world isn’t going to end because of our livestock maybe, just maybe, agriculture is actually going to be the thing to save everyone when this world needs feeding Copy and paste in support of our farmers

Maybe agriculture isn’t quite as bad as the media have been making out .... maybe the world isn’t going to end because of our livestock, maybe, jus...t maybe, agriculture is actually going to be the thing to save everyone when this world needs feeding and we cannot import avacados, coconut milk and mangetout from South America! ....eat local.eat fresh... 15.01.2022 I'm not one to politicise my social media accounts, however I feel like this is important and socials are the easiest way to spread the word. As of the 30th of... November, The flow in the Peel river below Dungowan has been stopped completely, with all flow from Chaffey dam (20 megalitres a day to my knowledge) diverted to calala water treatment plant. In less than 14 days since then, at least 15 km of river below the weir has run bone dry and a massive fish kill has occured. 14 Days... No effort has been made (with the exception of concerned locals) to relocate dying fish and hundreds of native fish have been left to rot. No environmental flows have been released in that time either, and water is only now being released to please major water users further downstream. In the very short walk my little brother and his mate did today, they counted - approximately 45 dead Murray Cod, 60 dead Catfish, half a dozen yellowbelly and stupid amounts of dead carp (probably the only upside). Prime 7 News tonight described this as "effects of the drought", when has drought ever drained a perfectly healthy river in less than 14 days? this is a direct human impact and an excellent example of us engineering our own problems again. I understand the need for water security now more than ever but at what cost? The proverbial horse has bolted, everything from now is a reaction not an action. Could the work have been done in conjunction with the Chaffey dam upgrade? And not now when our water is more precious than ever. Irrepairable damage has now been done to the river ecosystem. This is only going to continue along the river and at this rate, all through town will be dry by the new year - Hot tip, the smell won't be real popular for country music. We'll see how this plays out...
