23.01.2022 Wow ladies Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for answering our call to arms this week. Since our post on Sunday we’ve been inundated with inquiries and donations to our GNO mega car giveaway.... In just 48 short hours, you purchased almost 200 tickets between you! That’s nearly $10,000 in two days you guys!! Amazing. You have honestly left us speechless and if we’re completely honest, in tears of joy (and there hasn’t been a lot of those tears going around lately.) We’ve been working around the clock to get back to your messages, and to fill in the raffle tickets with your details. We plan to start sending photos of your tickets to you via mobile SMS tomorrow. If you’ve contacted us via email, or direct message on the socials and we haven’t responded to you with the GNO bank account details yet, please let us know. We’ve been careful to cross check every inquiry, but they all came in so quickly, and we would hate to miss anyone! At this moment in time we’ve sold almost 700 raffle tickets, which leaves 300 to go. As previously mentioned, this raffle will be our only fundraiser for the Echuca Regional Health oncology department this year, and therefore our only chance of putting money into the Supportive Care bucket to support local cancer patients. 22.01.2022 It's almost time! If you're one of the 300 lucky women who scored yourself a ticket to tomorrow’s GNO Lazy Sunday Afternoon event, you're in for a treat. We can't wait to get the GNO sisterhood back together for an afternoon of delicious food, cocktails, bubbles, music and friendship.... Since the event sold out on May 8, we've been inundated with emails, texts and phonecalls from ladies who missed out on a ticket. We wish we could fit every one of you in, but due to space restrictions at Junction, 300 was our limit. We've got a beautiful afternoon in store for those of you joining us tomorrow. You'll receive a delicious cocktail on arrival, followed by a complimentary glass of bubbles. There'll be mouth-watering cheese stations to graze from, roving canapés throughout the evening, and DJ music for all the groovers. We'll start the day off with our Q&A panel - which will be a conversation about the wide-ranging impact cancer has in our community and how the GNO Supportive Care Fund is lightening the load for those walking the cancer path. The panel features three amazing guests in ERH oncology nurse Serena Morley, cancer survivor Katie Eldridge, and carer Merryn Anderson. Later in the evening we'll draw the winners of our massive $20,000 prize draw. Up for grabs is a $16,000 inground spa package, a $3569 backyard blitz package and an $800 weekend getaway package to Daylesford. 21.01.2022 Winners are grinners! Meet Gary and Debbie England, the lucky winners of our Mega Car Giveaway! ... The couple took ownership of their brand new Mazda CX-5 today and couldn’t be happier! We were absolutely thrilled to win the car,'' said Debbie and Greg. We want to thank Echuca Mazda, the Moama Bowling Club and of course GNO for organising such an amazing prize. It's a beautiful car, red is our favourite colour and we can't wait to drive it! The Melbourne based pair own a cabin here at Moama Riverside and love spending as much time as they can in our twin towns. They purchased their winning ticket earlier in the year from Moama Bowling Club after witnessing another car being given away, but didn’t think they would actually win this one! We buy tickets in raffles like this all the time but we’ve never met anyone who has won anything like this. We thought the odds were pretty good but it really is unbelievable to be standing here today! We are going to frame our winning ticket along with a photo of the car so we can always remember this moment - it’s not every day you win a brand new car for $50! While we are both still lucky to have jobs, business for us has been quiet during these challenging COVID conditions, so winning this prize will really give us a welcome boost. 20.01.2022 Celebrating 11 Years of GNO For those of our followers new to GNO here’s a little background as to how the charity came to be. The Echuca-Moama Girls Night Out (GNO) initiative began in 2008 and is the much loved creation of a small collective of women who have experienced first-hand the impact of cancer upon loved ones.... The GNO movement connects, embraces and engages the sisterhood of our community to shape a strong and vibrant network of women who are there for each other in times of need. All proceeds raised through our events go directly to the GNO Supportive Care Program, which was established in partnership with Echuca Regional Health to provide meaningful assistance to local cancer patients. Those funds are helping to provide extra care and financial support for things like counseling, rent payments, wigs, alternative therapies, lymphodeama sleeves, fuel cards, accommodation, home care and child care. GNO events have been overwhelmingly embraced by thousands of women in the community, and have raised more than $265,000 to support local cancer patients and their families. In addition to raising funds for the oncology department, GNO also helped secure vital funding from the McGrath Foundation for a dedicated McGrath Breast Care Nurse who commenced work at ERH in 2012. Our breast care nurse has been a shining light for so many local women undergoing treatment for breast cancer providing extraordinarily intimate support, improving their continuity of care and minimising the stress and trauma of their breast cancer experience. Our treasured past-committee member Michelle Noelker was the inspiration behind the charity, and her legacy continues to drive us forward. A young married woman in the prime of her life, Michelle was working full-time in a job she loved and harboring dreams of starting a family when she was dealt a terminal cancer diagnosis. In the face of enormous adversity, she saw light in the darkness and she encouraged all those around her to do the same. When Michelle left this world for eternal peace in 2010, aged just 38, she left behind a powerful legacy. And that was to learn to love the journey, not the destination; to look around at all the good in the world and to try to give some back; and to live today with happiness in your heart, because this day is the only guarantee you get. And so in honour of Michelle, GNO events are first and foremost a celebration of women - of the joy they bring to one another, and of the amazing work they do in their relationships, families, communities and in their own lives. We are so incredibly lucky to have an organisation like Moama Bowling Club, that cares as much about our community as we do, here in our twin towns. The work GNO and so many other charity organisations do, would not be possible without the ongoing support of MBC and we are delighted to have them as our Major Sponsor and Corporate Partner once again for 2019. Since 2008, MBC has been by our side contributing to our events through direct sponsorship and hosting our functions in their stunning facilities year in, year out. 14.01.2022 Wow ladies. Where to begin From the bottom of our hearts, thanks to each and every one of you who supported yesterday’s Lazy Sunday Afternoon. From the GNO sisterhood who turned out in droves, to the incredibly generous local businesses who sponsored our event, please accept our deep gratitude.... We’re still counting the beans, but the tally has exceeded $62,000 - utterly smashing our $50K target and all previous records. And it takes our total fundraising tally for the GNO Supportive Care Fund at Echuca Regional Health Oncology to more than $327,000. We are seriously lost for words. Bearing witness to a sea of 300+ gorgeous women supporting GNO in yet another sell-out event was extraordinarily humbling, and it speaks volumes about the generous heart of our community. Ladies you have well and truly filled our buckets. A very special thank you to our Q&A panelists, Serena Morley, Merryn Anderson and Katie Eldridge for bravely sharing your stories and for reminding us all of the important difference the GNO Supportive Care Fund is making to the lives of so many in our community. 08.01.2022 The wait is over! After months and months of planning, the day of our GNO Lazy Sunday Afternoon is finally here and we can’t wait to raise a glass in celebration and smash that $50K! ... We knew such an ambitious fundraising target was going to take a whole of community effort, and golly gosh our amazing EM village did not disappoint! We put the call out and you delivered in spades - from corporate sponsorship, cash and in-kind donations, vouchers, hampers, dining packages, accommodation houses, hair and beauty pampering and our massive $20K Raffle Prize Draw - the gifts just kept on coming! Over 60 (yes 60!!) local businesses, organisations and individuals have donated their time, money, products and services in the name of our GNO cause and we can’t thank you enough. Without the generous support of our sponsors and donors an event like this just wouldn’t be possible - it’s as simple as that... Many of you have been by our side, contributing to our events since we began 11 years ago and some are just joining us for the first time, but please know we value each and every one of you and every contribution, no matter how big or small, counts. 07.01.2022 Sharing the love with our GNO sisterhood today for an upcoming event in our community that you seriously need to pencil into your diary. The Art of Self Love- An afternoon with Kim Morrison, is a women’s wellness event hosted by local wellness advocates Suzy McCleary from Echuca Family Acupuncture and Liz Sefton - The Nourishing Home, that will set you up with important tools to tackle life’s challenges with courage, grace, strength and dignity. It’s the second wellness event... of its kind hosted locally by Suzy and Liz, and last year GNO was grateful to be the charity partner, receiving an incredible $7000 to support cancer patients in our community. This year, the beneficiary is the amazing Love Me Love You Foundation which facilitates mental health and wellbeing programs to make a positive social change in the mental health space. All proceeds raised at this event will assist the Foundation to deliver these wonderful workshops and presentations here in our region. Through this special event, the organisers hope to create awareness, inspire conversation, provide education and offer greater support around mental health and emotional wellbeing. 07.01.2022 10 years today since we lost this beautiful soul - our dear friend and founding GNO member Michelle Noelker. Michelle was the inspiration behind GNO when we started back in 2008. She would be so proud of all this special charity has achieved in the years since, and of the meaningful difference it continues to make in the lives of those in our community living with cancer. When she departed this world 10 years ago - aged just 38 - she left behind a powerful legacy. And that wa...s to learn to love the journey, not the destination; to look around at all the good in the world and to try to give some back; and to live today with happiness in your heart, because this day, is the only guarantee you get. 06.01.2022 Appreciation post About 18 months ago GNO approached Neil Greaves at Vast Creative with hand on heart, asking for help with developing a simple website. Given our small committee of five is entirely volunteer-based, and that 100% of proceeds raised at GNO events go directly to the Supportive Care Fund, we had zero dollars to contribute towards this project, so we were asking for a love job. ... We were hoping for a basic landing page with some brief information about the charity, if he could find room in his heart (and busy schedule) to help us out. In typical Neil fashion, he came back to us with an immediate yes. And some months later, he presented us with www.gnoechucamoama.com.au. 06.01.2022 Wow ladies Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for answering our call to arms this week. Since our post on Sunday we’ve been inundated with inquiries and donations to our GNO mega car giveaway.... In just 48 short hours, you purchased almost 200 tickets between you! That’s nearly $10,000 in two days you guys!! Amazing. You have honestly left us speechless and if we’re completely honest, in tears of joy (and there hasn’t been a lot of those tears going around lately.) We’ve been working around the clock to get back to your messages, and to fill in the raffle tickets with your details. We plan to start sending photos of your tickets to you via mobile SMS tomorrow. If you’ve contacted us via email, or direct message on the socials and we haven’t responded to you with the GNO bank account details yet, please let us know. We’ve been careful to cross check every inquiry, but they all came in so quickly, and we would hate to miss anyone! At this moment in time we’ve sold almost 700 raffle tickets, which leaves 300 to go. As previously mentioned, this raffle will be our only fundraiser for the Echuca Regional Health oncology department this year, and therefore our only chance of putting money into the Supportive Care bucket to support local cancer patients. When we approached the GNO sisterhood six weeks ago asking for your support in the depths of a global pandemic, we felt sick about it.... We’d been forced to cancel our annual Girls Night Out event on May 31, but we were left with a brand new $36,000 car to give away. It was the worst possible time to be asking anyone for money, but we had no choice. We couldn’t postpone the raffle, because under our permit conditions and requirements it had to be drawn on May 31, 2020. So we took a deep breath, went against our better judgment, and reluctantly asked you to buy a ticket. And by god you did it. You snapped up all 1000 tickets in our car giveaway, helping us raise a staggering $50,000 for the GNO Supportive Care Fund which supports people right here in our community living with cancer. $50K in a time of a global pandemic....... . The GNO movement has always been about connecting and embracing the sisterhood of our community to shape a strong and vibrant network of women who are there for each other in times of need. ... And never has that need been greater than it is right now. But unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 crisis we are unable to go ahead with our annual Girls Night Out event scheduled for May 31 at Junction Moama. And this puts us in a difficult position because we have a brand new $36,000 car to give away on that date. This beautiful Mazda CX5 is sitting proudly on display inside Moama Bowling Club, which sadly was forced to close its doors last week due to the pandemic restrictions.
