13.01.2022 Government Incentives... It's been a while since I've posted anything, but thought I'd put something up regarding these cold calls some people are getting. Essentially the call makes claims there are federal government incentives available that help you divert your income to pay off your mortgage sooner and if you give them your personal financial details they'll check if you qualify. I've led on some of these callers to extract as much information as I can, which normally on...ly goes so far until they realize I know what I'm on about and they hang up on me, so that's the first warning sign! What I've discovered is that most of them work for financial planers, property developers or both and are trying to get your details to get people to invest in off the plan property and their script is quite convincing and often catches people out. So beware... there are no special government incentives, they are only referring to the tax laws which apply to everyone and your accountant can advise you on, and normally the only people that make money are the property developers and the financial planners selling these schemes. While there may be the odd one out there with a genuine offer, please always get a second opinion before signing up to anything as I can provide plenty of examples where clients have be burnt by these schemes. And lastly remember, if it seems too good to be true it probably is!
