16.01.2022 Perfect day trips from Goat Island Bungalow to Cradle Mountain, so easy

15.01.2022 Penguin is a breathtaking 15-minute drive east of Burnie along the coast . It's only 31 kilometers and 22 minutes from Devonport by car . It'll take you ove...r 1.5 hours to drive the 131 kilometers from Launceston. From Hobart it is 310 kilometers. That drive will take you 3.5 hours . Make sure to bring your camera to Penguin . Our town features a picturesque esplanade, scenic walking trails and breathtaking drives along the coast. And you'll want to make the drive up to Penguin on a Sunday. The town boasts Tasmania's largest covered market where more than 200 vendors sell local food, wine, crafts and goods Us townsfolk love our little flightless friends and we show that love with a 10-foot penguin statue waiting for a picture in the heart of Penguin . The clean, cool beaches of the coastal road between Ulverstone and Wynyard make for a perfect scenic drive . And all along the highway, between the asphalt and the train tracks , you'll find carefully curated gardens that bloom year round . All of this scenery makes Penguin the perfect romantic getaway. And to cap off the beautiful drive, head to one of the many walking tracks at the Dial Range with the breathtaking views of Penguin and the coast . https://tasmania.com/points-of-interest/penguin/

13.01.2022 Special Feature: Tasmanian flora Tasmania is fortunate in possessing a very large number of unique plant species that occur nowhere else in the world. Our ...rainforest and alpine communities are unique assemblages of plants of great botanical significance. For such a tiny island state, the diversity of Tasmanias vegetation is astounding - mosaics of alpine herb fields and colourful heathland, ancient rainforests, tracts of native grasslands and dry windswept coastal vegetation. Tasmania can lay claim to some of the most ancient plant species on earth, the tallest flowering tree, and a large array of diminutive beauties such as terrestrial orchids. On forest floors live a rich array of ferns, mosses and fungi while sea beds and reefs are covered by a graceful profusion of seaweeds. With such breathtaking and irreplaceable diversity comes a responsibility to understand, manage and protect this unique array of life. How can we help keep Tasmania wild and beautiful? Leave No Trace is an internationally accepted way of minimising impacts on the places we visit. You can do your bit by following these seven principles: - Plan ahead and prepare - Walk and camp on durable surfaces - Dispose of waste properly - Leave what you find - Use a fuel stove and minimise campfire impacts - Respect wildlife - Be considerate of your hosts and other visitors For more information on our Leave No Trace guidelines click on the link below: https://www.parks.tas.gov.au/index.aspx?base=406 We love to share your Tassie videos, photos and stories with the world You can inbox us or post to our wall. If you are on instagram you can tag either of our accounts via the hashtags #TasmaniaGram or #InstaTasmania If you are a local business, artist, charity or group send us a message about promoting you to Tasmania and the world

10.01.2022 SULPHUR CREEK features in ~ A Trail Created From Chaos ~ You may not realise at first as you make your way through the North-West Coast that beneath the ri...ch soil and weathered rocks lies some of Australias most unique and fascinating geological experiences . Sulphur Creek is reputedly named due to the perceived smell of sulphur in the area when first explored by Europeans. Sulphur is associated with volcanic activity and is just a short 5 minute drive from Penguin . The rugged coastline surrounding Sulphur Creek site is very interesting in that it contains rocks from the geological period just prior to, and the geological period following the most violent period of volcanic activity when chains of volcanoes formed across Tasmania . A self-guided roadside geological trail called Created from Chaos highlights 13 of the North West Coasts unique geological features. The trail is concentrated along 60 kilometres of scenic shoreline between Devonports Mersey Bluff and Wynyards Table Cape where you will encounter some of Tasmanias oldest deformed rocks (750 million years) along a coast sculpted by recent ice-age effects and violent volcanic activity . You can be guided along the trail via a full colour map pamphlet which can be found at visitor information centres in the region. You can also view the trail map which identifies each area of interest by visiting this link and scrolling to the bottom of the article . https://visitcradlecoast.com.au//from-coast-to-cape-a-tra/

02.01.2022 Todays Through the Lens feature showcases Tasmanian photographer Anne Sweeney from RedShed Photography. We asked Anne what she loves about Tassie: What I l...ove about Tassie....What isnt there to love. I love the fact we have four distinct seasons and the fact we can take a photo and you can easily see what time of the year it is. I love our crispy clear blue sky winter mornings and the low lying fog it creates. From the rugged beauty of the west coast, the turquoise clear waters of our east coast, the patchwork farmland of the north-west to the historic beauty of the south, it is a photographers dream. We have some pretty amazing sunrises and sunsets too. Annes gallery if full of amazing coastlines, Tassies pristine wilderness, our unique wildlife, iconic locations and a few pretty rare finds. Here are 42 extraordinary photos from Anne. We are very pleased to share and hope you enjoy Annes connection with Tassie through her lens.
