22.01.2022 These portraits are from a recent assessment piece and represent the theme of self and subject and what it means to me. For me it means dissimulation and through that I want to bring awareness to the topic of emotional abuse. Abusive behaviours include control over a person, isolation from family/friends and threats. These images are about every women and that almost everyone has to deal with this at one stage in their life from interactions with a partner, family member, wor...k colleague and even strangers. In fact 1 in 4 women have experienced it from their current/former partner in Australia, thats roughly 2.1 million women. These portraits show a concealment of hurt and heartache that I have endured over the years from various different men that I have interacted in my life with. The bruises represent words and actions because its just as bad as a punch to tell anyone they are not good enough for you.
