09.01.2022 Travelling on the Great Central Road Many people are traveling on the Great Central Road to get around the Nullarbor Road Block due to fires. We want you to be ...safe. Please take note of the following to ensure you have the best possible outcome. A permit is required. You can get one online and it is free. Most of the Great Central Road is unsealed Ensure you have spare tyres, you really need two through here. Low profile tyres are NOT suitable. You have a working Jack Twice as much water as you think you will need Some cash as eftpos machines do go down and then you will have to wait for it to be back up. Be aware there are many camels on the road Phone ahead for accommodation. All roadhouses close at 5pm weekdays and are only open 9am 3pm weekends Tjukayirla Roadhouse 90371108 Warburton Roadhouse 8956 7656 Warakurna Roadhouse 89567344 Enjoy your unexpected adventure and stay safe

06.01.2022 Stolen from another page ... **WARNING for Shannon's customers** - you are no longer covered for beach/river/water crossings! I checked the new Shannons PDS whi...ch applies to every policy renewed after June 15 2020. The relevant section on page 40 reads: "Reckless acts - any intentional or reckless act by you, the driver of the vehicle or by a person acting with your express or implied consent (such as street racing, burnouts, donuts, driving into water, illegally using a mobile telephone, driving at excessive speed)." I rang them for clarification and specifically mentioned driving in the High Country, where river crossings are necessary. The rep confirmed that Shannons are not suitable for me with this change as I will not be covered. I asked for a reduction in premium in response to the reduction in coverage, but no dice of course. I'm still researching other insurers at the moment, but wanted to let everyone know so you can make your own decisions. I've been with Shannons for 20 years and have two other vehicles insured with them, but my Troopy definitely cannot stay with them anymore. Link to the new PDS: See more
