21.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT - Conclusion of season 2020 It is with a heavy heart that we formally announce the conclusion of our season (without officially kicking a ball). I...t is our understanding that a season may commence after the current lockdown however after considering a number of reasons we have ruled ourself out of competitions for the remainder of the year. We would like to acknowledge Football Victoria for making every attempt to provide clubs the opportunity to compete. As soon as restrictions allow it, we intend to host social days, come and try clinics and opportunities for the local community to get involved with our great game. We thank our members, volunteers and sponsors for their support this year and wish everyone all this best at this time, please stay safe. Until then, we will begin preparations for season 2021 (PS our 10th year!) #gorovers

15.01.2022 School closures due to Covid With the recent school closures due to possible Covid outbreaks, for everyones safety the club asks, if you or your child attend ...one of these schools please do not participate in training or games until the school is cleared and contact tracing is complete. Please notify your coach/manager immediately if you can not train. 15.01.2022 Reminder about COVID Guidelines and Training/Games In line with Department of Health guidelines, we would like to remind everyone that if you or your child work...s at or attends a school which is currently closed due to a confirmed COVID case, that as per the advice you should have received from the school, you are unable to attend training or weekend games until the school has reopened and you are cleared to do so. We are aware that there are some schools currently affected, and would ask that you comply with the guidelines so as to ensure the health and safety of our community. Also, if you are showing any symptoms or are waiting on results of a test, once again, we ask that you stay at home until it is safe to return. 14.01.2022 Congratulations to all the boys and girls who have been selected to represent Geelong at the 2021 Country Championships coming up over the Queen's Birthday week...end, this year being held at Myers Reserve and Stead Park. Thanks to GOFC Coaching for organising the squads, and to Lisa Brooks and her committee for all the work going in behind the scenes to pull it all together. Expressions of interest are sought for volunteers to work in various areas and roles over the weekend, and also for sponsors. This is a major event for our football community and we need the help and support of as many people as possible to showcase our talent on the field as well as amongst our Geelong Club communities. 11.01.2022 A truthful letter from a local club president If you or your kids want to play sport in the future, clubs need your support now more than ever Hopefully senior players of all codes heed the message and play for the love of playing not just for the $$... Im just going to put this out there... If you and/or your children are involved at any sporting club, basketball, soccer, football, netball etc... please make sure you support them, they need you now more than ever. If you can financially support them, pay your childs rego, pay your rego, donate some cash, in hope of a season, please do so and pray that your club is there next year to bring the joy and love it provides to your family. Without our members and volunteers helping in these times, a lot of clubs will be financially unable to continue. Please look after your sporting clubs and communities...I know my family is really looking forward to a season of soccer, whatever that looks like..
10.01.2022 Dear members, families and sponsors, It is with a deep heart that I called an extraordinary meeting of the committee last night. The meeting was called due to ...the latest changes of community sport by the Government. The committee have decided that Lara United FC will be calling the season to an end as of Wednesday night after our final junior training session. We are very sorry to the juniors who have played three or four games already. With the current stage 3 restrictions in place for 6 weeks, this leaves little or no time to the end of the season. This year the committee and a few dedicated volunteers have worked tirelessly to ensure we got some teams up to play. This has taken a lot of time and effort given the covid requirements. We gave it our best shot to look after people both mentally and physically but it is now time to focus our energies on season 2021. We will now be concentrating on getting prepared for the next season and hopefully we will have the lights and some fencing around pitch 1 ready for season 2021. We are still waiting on advice from Football Victoria as to what they expect their fees to be for this year and once we have that information we will communicate that with you. I understand there will be a lot of individual circumstances both financially and practically to deal with this so please bear with us while we go through this process. To our sponsors thank you very much for supporting the club during this turbulent year the club and all of its members greatly appreciate it. Over the next couple of weeks I will personally contact you all to discuss our plans going forward and to answer any questions you may have. Finally, a huge thank you to our 2020 committee for all the hard work you have put in, thank you to our co-ordinators, coaches and team managers for all your support. Thank you to all the volunteers who have helped around the club this year and finally thank you to the members who support our club. 09.01.2022 As you loyal folks know, DSC hung their boots up and locked up the rooms on Tuesday night following the government announcement that our region would enter the ...second round of Stage 3 lockdown. At this stage, according to Football Victoria, the plan is a 6 week break during these trying times and once restrictions are lifted, we consider our positions. DSC want to reassure all our members, volunteers and sponsors that until we know whats going to happen after this lockdown, we may have stopped training for seniors and ceased competition and training for juniors, but the committee will continue to work quietly (& virtually!) in the background so that once this is over, we are ready to go again. Thank you to all our members and volunteers for being the absolute best there can be; we will always be so very proud of our DSC community, its what makes us the best! Please keep supporting our sponsors and local businesses during these difficult times, keep supporting each other, from a distance of course, and most importantly, stay safe, stay healthy, and we will be back on your screens and hopefully on our pitches really soon. 04.01.2022 This weekend we would have seen 166 kids, 22 coaches and at least 11 referees represent Geelong in the 2020 CLFA Country Championships. Unfortunately the weekend has been postponed but thanks to Brian and Emma at Midcity trophies all our junior players with receive a commemorative pin for their efforts in being selected to represent their region. A great little momento which they will hopefully keep and look back on in years to come.... Normally these pins would have been distributed at the tournament but due to current circumstances its going it be a little trickier so we appreciate your understanding in trying to organise this. Pins can be collected at the following locations on Saturday June 6th. Surfcoast FC 9am to 9.30am Barwon Heads FC. 10am - 10.40am Barwon SC 11am - 11.40am Geelong Rangers 12pm - 12.40pm If possible please can parents discuss with friends/teammates and get 1 person to pick up multiple pins to avoid lots of people congregating at the venues. An email to all players will also be sent confirming these pick up times. If you cannot make any of these pick ups then please contact [email protected] to arrange an alternative arrangement.
