23.01.2022 Budo philosophy 6 : "Do not be struck by others, do not strike others, the principle is peace without incident". This proverb was stated by the founder of our G...oju-ryu karate, Master Chojun Miyagi. When I was young ( the photo below ), I thought this is it, and I have followed this teaching. As a result, I have been very happy what I have been training for my life and my students. In the past, I have met so many high ranking karate instructors, but some of them did not understand this meaning properly. They think this proverb is meant for physical aspect only, & abuse other instructors or people verbally or by mails or by Facebook comments. I want you to remember that true Budo-ka (Martial-path expert) will not abuse anyone physically, mentally & verbally because real Budo-ka`s principle is peace without incident. Let us make our Budo-ka`s image better doing thoughtfully, correctly & honestly for the world where we live. Written by Kenshu H. Watanabe on 3rd Jan., 2021. See more

13.01.2022 Budo philosophy 7 : "Attain martial arts (Bujutsu ) by martial skills (Bugi ) training, you realize martial path (Budo ) by attaining martial arts. Open y...our mind-eye (Shingan ) by realizing the martial path, accomplish human character (Jinkaku) by opening the mind-eye. "Bu"() for Budo () is the path of human, therefore, respect peace & harmony". This proverb was written in Japanese (translated to English by me) by late Zen teacher, Fukyu Miyasaka. When I visited my grandmaster Ichikawa`s dojo in 1994, Ichikawa sensei told me that he has 3 teachers in his life. According to him, one of the teachers was Mr. Fukyu Miyasaka. I greatly appreciate & respect what Mr. Miyasaka influenced my grandmaster`s way of karate-do while he was alive. Gassho () by Hideo Watanabe. Written on 26th Jan., 2021. See more
