23.01.2022 Wednesday 29th July 2020 The Greater South West Junior Football League Executive have met to discuss the matters surrounding our entire football community in r...egard to the impacts around Covid 19 as they emerge in our communities. We would like to inform our Clubs, players, volunteers and supporters that in order to keep moving forward in a safe manner we are proposing the Southern Clubs of Heathmere, Heywood, Tyrendarra and Portland Tigers suspend their training for the remainder of the week and postpone this weekends games due to be played on the August 2nd. We will look to return to training and playing on a revised format as of Tuesday 4th of August - information will be filtered to club presidents and committees. The Clubs of Casterton, Coleraine, Penshurst Cavendish and Hamilton Kangaroos will play a northern based draw to allow the commencement of football in this region for the present time. The GSWJFL Executive will reassess the situation on Tuesday the 4th of August 7pm whereby a media release will be issued outlining the movement forward. A return to play will involve a revised draw. It is our priority to keep everyone safe, however we also understand the impact sport has on juniors and we will endeavour to keep moving forward while maintaining strict protocols. See more

08.01.2022 The executive and club representatives of the Greater South West Junior Football League held a meeting on June 30th 2020 to discuss the impact of the COVID19 v...irus on GSWJFL conducting a home and away season during 2020. The GSWJFL executive can confirm that executives and club representatives voted unanimously for the GSWJFL to guide the league through a home and away season of nine rounds, with finals, beginning July 19th 2020. Complying with DHHS government, AFLWD, and AFL Vic protocols are paramount, as agreed, the GSWJFL and clubs will follow and respect protocols in all aspects of training and playing football. The GSWJFL executive has considered factors in initiating a return to play in our league, including both mental and physical health of their players, and will continue to do this throughout this unprecedented time of a global pandemic. Due to an inability to participate in a home and away season within their respective leagues, Casterton Sandford Football Netball Club from the Western Border Football Netball League and Penshurst Football Netball Club from the Mininera and District Football Netball League, have requested to enter teams within the GSWJFL for the 2020 season. 2020 is an exceptional year, and as such, the two established clubs within neighbouring leagues have been granted acceptance to enter teams within each grade level, into the GSWJFL for the 2020 season only. Due to the variance of competing teams within age groups, a draw per age group will be distributed to clubs with the season to begin Sunday, July 19th 2020. It was noted that all clubs entering into the season must understand that circumstances and directives may alter the ability for the GSWJFL to conduct or continue a season with government restrictions changing at any time.
