06.01.2022 Today a number of our members along with members from other local brigades and staff were very pleased to attend a bbq lunch hosted by Coomealla Memorial Sporting Club and Wentworth Community Bank to receive the NSW Premier’s Bushfire Emergency Citation for their contributions to the huge fire season of 2019/20. From left to right, Gwen Wilkinson, Damien Wadsworth, Brendon Ede, Simon Wadsworth and Troy Dowley. Absent from this photo are Graeme Smyth, Shane Johnston and Nick Mason. This award not only recognises the efforts put in by the members but also the sacrifices made by the members families during this time.

05.01.2022 This afternoon Gol Gol 1 and Gol Gol Pumper attended a truck fire along with Buronga 1, Wentworth 13, FIre and Rescue NSW Wentworth and units from NSW Traffic and Highway Patrol. Fortunately the fire was contained to the prime mover and little damage was sustained to the trailer set.

05.01.2022 Lower Western NSW RFS crews from Benanee, Curlwaa, Dareton, Euston and Gol Gol have made the most of ideal weather conditions completing a vital Hazard Reductio...n Burn North of the Sturt Highway on the Wentworth & Balranald Shire Boundary along a 15km section of the Condon Fire Trail. (Longest Fire Trail in NSW) The Prescribed Hazard Reduction Burn will greatly assist in reducing the intensity and adverse impact of bush fires leading into the 2020/2021 Bush Fire Danger Period and into the future. While the burn is contained it will continue to burn into the evening and during the night and will be visible from the Sturt Highway between Euston & Gol Gol.
