24.01.2022 For everyone at home, warmly tucked into bed or enjoying a glass of wine or whatever you do after running 100 kms, spare a thought for 75YO Robert Dickison. Not one to give up lightly, he is still out there at Runaway Bay, soon to be on his last of 16 laps. Well done superstar :-) we are all proud of you.

19.01.2022 JUST NOW updating the age group race records. The M60 record for the 100 kms previously held by the Late Keith Sullivan fell to Mick Francis with his 9:23:53. The M75 race record for the 100 kms was previously vacant and now goes to Robert Dickison with his 15:46:50. He also picked up the M75 50 kms record with his split of 7:19:28. The M75 25 kms record fell to Brian Evans with his 2:52:30. The M65 25 kms record previously held by the Late Keith Sullivan fell to John Shaw wi...th his 1:40:08. The M60 record previously held by John Nuttall fell to Peter Hall with his 1:41:30. The M50 25 kms record of John Delaney fell to Geoff Holloway with his 1:34:26. No records to the girls this year although they had the last laugh, in upstaging the men, to take 1st and 2nd outright in the main event, the Gold Coast 100 (Marita Eisler and Corrina Black). I have not yet done the age group records for the marathon, save to say that the stand out performance was the 3:07 achieved by 15 YO Zach Cacciola. Congratulations everyone. See more

13.01.2022 Congratulations Mal Gamble.

12.01.2022 There seems to be some conjecture/comment/consternation about our cut-off policy. Our cut-off time is 14 hours or at 8:30 pm. At that time, we close the aid stations and electronic timing and remove the finish arch etc. Please remember that key event staff have another 2-3 hours work to do, returning vehicles, equipment etc. The 14 hours is generous. For example Comrades marathon, held the same day, has a cutoff of 12 hours for 87-90 kms (it varies depending whether it's an u...p or down year). At Comrades if you finish a minute over 12 hours (and many do) you get a DNF. Period. No arguments, no ifs buts and maybes). And they also have intermediate cutoffs. We have no intermediate cutoffs and extend the privilege to contestants who take longer than 14 hours that they may continue on at their own risk and advise us later of their finish time. We are likely one of few, maybe the only long distance race to do this. From comments by one or two on social media, it seems that some are not happy with this. Fortunately most experienced long distance runners are happy with the arrangement, which most regard as generous. We hope that this provides a better understanding of our policy. Hope to see you all next year. See more

12.01.2022 MEET Zachery Cacciola, winner of the UD Runaway Bay marathon with a time of 3:07. Pretty flash for a 15 YO.

03.01.2022 GOLD COAST 100 - 2019 1st outright, Marita Eisler in 8:26:10 Congratulations Marita on your 7th win at this event.

02.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS to 75 YY Robert Dickison. You know that you've had a hard day at the office when you finish with head torch for last 5 hours, aid stations are closed, finish arch is gone, electronic timing is gone, no event personnel and the crowd consists of your spouse and a couple of close friends. Rest assured that your time will be recognised and you are now the official holder of the M75 race record. Your finish time at 10:18 pm does not quite match that of Tina Fiegel's 2:55 am of 2007 but is certainly up there. Heartiest congratulations. Thanks to partner Bernice Fitzgibbon and friends Meredith Tucker and Tom for looking after him, especially the last 3 laps. A great training run for the #wildearthutgc500 in September.
