10.01.2022 REFRESHED 20 YEAR ECONOMIC VISION FOR REGIONAL NSW The Refresh identifies ecotourism and domestic tourism as key drivers for regional NSW economies in coming years. First released in 2017 the Vision has been updated in response to the changed economic landscape and opportunities that have emerged in regional NSW following the drought, bushfires, floods and COVID-19 pandemic. Since its launch, the vision has guided $124 million of state government investment in tourism and... culture projects that are complete, underway or committed. One of the opportunities outlined in the refreshed vision is to invest in new infrastructure to create major ecotourism destinations and capitalise on the rich natural and cultural resources available in regional NSW through ecologically sustainable tourism. The vision identifies that within five years the NSW Government will investigate driving the growth of ecotourism and domestic tourism through: + supporting local, regional and state organisations to establish distinctive value propositions in tourist destinations based on regional endowments + opportunities to improve access to, and management of, areas of significant natural amenity and ecotourism potential + innovative models to promote the preservation and enhancement of natural endowments. More senior NSW Government roles will also be based in regional communities

05.01.2022 Interesting business-pivoting case study on Intrepid Travel Sarah Clark, the MD of Intrepid said they realised the staff could not all work on day-to-day business and pivot the business so they broke their teams into groups. Some were focused on current business and others were focused on completely new business opportunities like prototyping a new technology. ... There were three rules - they could not spend money, had to utilise all systems, teams and processes and they had to drive revenue into the business The team had the opportunity to reimagine the business. They treated it like a startup and as a result, they launched their new short haul retreats. What they learned. The crisis reduced time to market the launched a completely new product range in six weeks in all key customer markets (never been done before) The crisis let the teams cut through all the red tape approvals were faster and co-ordination was greater The crisis enhanced tolerance for risk The crisis encouraged them not to focus on perfection and get their product out in the world and continue to learn and iterate as they go The crisis forced them to relearn what customers want Significantly different to the traditional production line
