25.01.2022 The senior site showcase is on right now until 5pm. Come and see what the students have been learning this year!

25.01.2022 Tonights Principal's report via zoom. If the stream drops out, we will post the recorded video after.

25.01.2022 Sorry for the late notice but there is no meeting tonight!

24.01.2022 Very busy here already - patience and safety first!!

21.01.2022 Today I’ve had some great chats with the school and am feeling good about my son returning on Monday. They have put a lot of effort in to this, and will continue to work with families through this transition and beyond. These are answers to most of the questions that were raised previously. I’ve added them to the previous post too, but are repeating them for visibility. 1. Cleanliness and hygiene... * Sanitiser stations at entries to school and to buildings/classrooms. * Kids and staff reminded frequently to wash their hands with soap and water * At every break (recess and lunch), cleaners and admin staff will spray down all classroom desks, doors, and other touch points * After every break (recess and lunch), cleaners will clean the toilets * Every evening the school will be cleaned again ready for the next day 2. Drop off * The current plan is for this coming week, and they expect changes each week as they add more students. They are hoping to build on it week by week, refining as they go. * They are expecting drop off to be easier than pick up * They have extra staff and traffic controllers assigned to help * They will accommodate anyone with any needs that are not covered in the main plan * The plan is more of a guideline that will suit as many people as possible, but they know it won't suit everyone * Cyclists and walkers can do what they normally do 3. Pick up * Again, this will be adjusted week by week (more like day by day) * They won't persist with a plan that isn't working * They have already printed a list of all families with students in preschool and elsewhere in the primary school to support pickup of these families, but it will still be up to parents to let it be known that they are there to pick up more than just preschool * Kids can walk to meet their parents or an older sibling at a designated meeting point if a family have discussed that amongst themselves GCS is following the health advice given by ACT Health, and as such have no current plans to enforce wearing of masks (though if a parent wants to supply a mask for their child, they can), and no taking temperature of all kids at the start of the day. If you have more questions, let us know. I had a great chat with a few staff and may have forgotten to write something up.

20.01.2022 Back to school tomorrow - how are you all feeling about that? Did you see the email from the principal on Friday? Covid restrictions are the same as the last 2 weeks of last term until further notice. They are not going to relax as previosuly thought.

17.01.2022 ACT Council of Parents & Citizens Associations is hosting a grants writing workshop. It will be focussing on grants for P&Cs including where to find appropriate grants, tips on writing them, and obligations after winning one. If you have any ideas for bigger projects the P&C could aim for if we had the funding, let us know!

13.01.2022 Parents and carers of students with disabilities - would you like to be heard on issues relating to special needs education? Get in touch with ACT Council of Parents & Citizens Associations.

12.01.2022 2020 strikes again :( We have made the unfortunate decision to postpone the Colour Run until term 4 due to the weather. The preschoolers had their run yesterday and had a blast, even though the day was cold and windy. Friday is looking worse in every way, and won't let us have the awesome day we all want.... Take the holidays to rest and recharge, and we will pick a date early in term 4! Thanks for your understanding, David Pollard and the Gold Creek School P&C

12.01.2022 Reminder that our final P&C meeting of the year is on tonight at the senior site office at 6pm. Anyone is welcome to come even if it is your first time. See what we are about and maybe join the team for 2021! If you would like to bring a small plate if food to share, please do. Our last meeting of the year is always a little more social than usual.

12.01.2022 For your chance to win a $50 gift voucher thanks to the P&C, simply provide your feedback on school photos!

11.01.2022 Junior site families doing pickup in the car park - please keep displaying the surname cards to keep traffic flowing.

10.01.2022 Volunteer needed for a secret mission! We need someone who maybe works in Civic and can meet me at the Griffin Centre on Tuesday at lunchtime to help me load some large (but not too heavy) sporting equipment in to a trailer. 1 person should be enough, but 2 wouldn't hurt.

09.01.2022 Thank you to the parent volunteers who made the colour run today a huge success! 2020 tried its best to get in the way of our fun day, but we overcame. Hopefully next year we can open the doors to more parents again. We had to keep it fairly tight with numbers today. Thank you also to the teachers who were flexible and understanding as we got through the day!

09.01.2022 Trying again...

09.01.2022 We don’t know what the car park will look like this morning, but regardless of how it goes, stay safe and slow while there are lots of young children around. You can provide your feedback to us if you like and we will pass it up the chain to get a consolidated response.

06.01.2022 Welcome to our first virtual P&C meeting!

05.01.2022 Great news! Currently, we are planning on going ahead with the colour run this year. We are aiming for the last day of term 3, as usual. We are still working out the details given covid restrictions, but with things as they are as of right now, we are able to hold the event. More details to come...

05.01.2022 This morning would have been our annual Mother's Day breakfast, and for the first year in a long time we would have had beautiful weather! Don't tell my wife but we will be making her bacon and eggs on Sunday morning. The P&C will find a way to show our appreciation to all mothers once we are all back together again. In the meantime, I hope your kids spoil you this weekend.

04.01.2022 The school has sent out this letter about the return to face to face learning. If you have any questions, feel free to ask here and we can take a consolidated list to the school to save them being asked the same questions repeatedly.

04.01.2022 The whole P-2 group was cleared within 15-20 minutes without serious (or any??) incident. Well done to parents and staff for such a smooth pick up process. As I left at 3:05pm, the executive staff were debriefing and discussing any needed tweaks, so stay tuned for more!

01.01.2022 Colour run is going ahead! We have been watching the weather closely to try and make tomorrow’s colour run work, and everything looks like it is lining up. The course is being mowed right now, and we have had to make some changes, but everyone is pulling out all stops to make it work! We will continue to watch the weather from a safety and comfort point of view. We won’t make any kids do anything they are not comfortable with. If you do not want your children to participate, please let their teacher know. Term 4 is a busy one and we have very few opportunities to have our colour run. We appreciate your understanding that while tomorrow may not be optimal, it should be a great day for the kids!
