25.01.2022 Sad, but not unexpected, news. We hope to see all of our friends and supporters at these contests once they’re re-scheduled.

25.01.2022 Members of Golden City Pipe Band acknowledge with sadness the passing of Bob (RJK) Semple OAM BEM, long-time drum major of Hawthorn Pipe Band, in his 100th year. Bob was a friend to all, and in particular to our band's founding Pipe Major Fred Roberts. We are all diminished by his passing. Photo from Scots Day Out, 2013

24.01.2022 For our second band practice of the current "stage 4" regional covid restrictions, we got out onto the paddock for a (very) socially-distant run on the big instruments. And very enjoyable it was, too.

17.01.2022 The band (well, a few of us at least) are overjoyed to be taking the first steps towards covid-normal, with our first band practice for several months. It’s outdoors, maximum of 10 at once and masks on whenever possible, but it felt great to be back together again.

17.01.2022 We're looking forward to this Saturday, 29th Feb, competing at Bendigo's own pipe band contest, just one of the many things that'll be happening at Scot's Day Out. We're the first band in the parade down View St at 10.03, and then in the contest circle at 11am. Looking forward to seeing you all there! https://www.facebook.com/events/639885339879491/

12.01.2022 It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of Phill Arrowsmith, long time supporter, player and ex-Pipe Sergeant of Golden City. You will be sorely missed my friend. At least you passed with the sound of the pipes.

11.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT As a consequence of the coronavirus situation, and the urgent need for "social distancing", all Golden City band practice is cancelled until (provisionally) 22nd May. This doesn't preclude small group, or one-on-one sessions, but whole-band practice is off, for now.

10.01.2022 The Australian Pipe Band Championships are now officially rescheduled until the weekend after Easter, 2021. We’ll see you there! http://www.pipebandsaustralia.com.au//championship-date-ap

09.01.2022 Our playout at the Swan Hill Show went really well today; the weather was perfect and the crowd appreciative.

08.01.2022 With Daylesford (the first contest of the Victorian competition season) fast approaching, Golden City recently had a whole-weekend "band camp" practice. Here's (almost) the whole band, plus a few visitors, around the table on chanters and pads

06.01.2022 Members of Golden City Pipe Band extend our condolences to the family and friends of Charlie Tamblyn, who passed away at the weekend, and in particular to our fellow bandspeople Amanda and Scott Tamblyn and family. Charlie was a stalwart of pipe bands in Bendigo, at one time a member (and bass drummer) with Golden City, as well as being a longtime member of the Clan MacCleod pipe band.

01.01.2022 We’re looking forward to getting back onto the contest field this Sunday at the Ballarat Highland Gathering. The event gets underway around 9am and we hit the field a little after 1pm. See you all there! https://facebook.com/events/s/ballarat-highland-gathering/624491281628517/?ti=icl
