25.01.2022 5PM Weds 9 Jan - Update on the bushfire near Rosedale from Incident Controller Andy Gilham CFA Gippsland Forest Fire Management Victoria

25.01.2022 **Please share this post** Residents may be experiencing a considerable amount of smoke and debris in the air, caused by the Rosedale West fire, which is still ...not under control. There are some important messages you need to know about smoke inhalation and the possibility of private household water tank contamination as a result of the fire and smoke. The Environment Protection Authority Victoria has not put out any advisory alerts regarding air quality in the affected areas, however any air quality health queries can be made through EPAs customer service centre by calling 1300 372 842 (1300 EPA VIC) If you can smell smoke, please note: Smoke can affect peoples health. People with heart or lung conditions (including asthma), children, pregnant women and older people are more sensitive to the effects of breathing in smoke. People with existing heart or lung conditions (including asthma) should follow the treatment plan advised by the doctor. Health information: If you need medical advice for exposure to smoke, seek medical advice or call Nurse on Call on 1300 606 024. Anyone experiencing wheezing, chest tightness and difficulty breathing should call Triple Zero (000). Another source of valuable information about smoke can be found at www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/he/HealthyLiving/bushfire-smoke If you cannot smell smoke, you are not likely to be exposed to smoke and it will therefore not affect you. Household water: If you rely on a water tank for household water consumption, your water could come contaminated by debris, ash and fire retardants. You should also not source water from a creek that has been affected by bushfire, as the water may be contaminated Water drawn from deep bores or wells should be safe to use For detailed information about how to protect your household water source, visit www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au//hea/bushfires-and-water-tanks ABC Gippsland TRFM GOLD 1242 Gippsland Times Discover Rosedale Rosedale Community Planning Group Rosedale Residents and Business Page Victorian Department of Health & Human Services

21.01.2022 To give some context to the size of the ongoing Rosedale fire in Victorias Gippsland area, our mapping team has overlayed the map of the Rosedale fire over a m...ap of Melbourne. At almost 12,000 hectares the size, the Rosedale fire covers the equivalent distance from Maidstone in Melbournes west to Kew East in Melbournes eastern suburbs. Firefighters are battling a fire perimeter of more than 70kms in length, which when in a straight line is roughly the distance of Melbourne to Kyneton. Night fire bombing crews will again attack the blaze from the air overnight after easterly winds saw fire activity escalate this afternoon resulting in Emergency Warning being issued for Willung. 19.01.2022 We would like to thank members of the public that called us in relation to the deceased dolphin that washed up on the beach at The Honeysuckles near Seaspray o...n 10 January. Community members had expressed concerns in relation to the nature of the death of the dolphin due to the significant injuries that appeared on the carcass. A necropsy has been undertaken and although the cause of death could not be confirmed, the injuries were consistent with animal predation following the death of the dolphin. We are comfortable that this was a naturally occurring event, with no evidence of human intervention. All sightings of whales or dolphins in distress should be reported to the whale and dolphin emergency hotline on 1300 136 017. https://www.facebook.com/groups/victoriandaredevilfisherman/
