22.01.2022 2020 will be a very special year for Golden Compass Tours, as we celebrate our 25th anniversary. Our very own Kiwi, Louise Shave, is leading a special Silver Anniversary A Journey through New Zealand tour very soon, in February, and our own proud Welshman, Mark Goodwin, will be leading a celebratory tour to Discover Wales, his native land, later in August. 18.01.2022 We are delighted to announce that we have increased the rewards of our Refer a Friend Scheme in 2020. Our Travel Forums provide an ideal opportunity for you to introduce a friend to Golden Compass and we are delighted that so many of our new travellers come to us as a result of recommendations from you. As a small token of our appreciation to you, we normally offer a simple Refer a Friend Scheme reward whereby you just refer a friend or family member, who isn't already part o...f the Golden Compass family of travellers, and when he or she books one of our programs, you would receive a $200 discount off any booking you make with us. However, because next year is our Silver Anniversary, we want to show how much we appreciate your loyalty: so for 2020 only this reward will be increased to a special $250 discount per new friend or family member, who takes a tour with us in 2020. There is no limit to the number of people you can refer - refer just four friends or family members, who book a program and travel with us in 2020, and you will receive $1,000 off your program, regardless of whether or not they are travelling with you. Exceptionally in this special anniversary year, your friends will also receive $250 (rather than the usual $100) off their own booking, making a Golden Compass tour even more rewarding. Any friend or family member, who may be interested in touring with Golden Compass, is more than welcome at any of our Travel Forums and we look forward to introducing them to our programs, our team and their future travelling companions.

03.01.2022 Well, what a year it has been for all of us, but particularly for our family and friends in hardest affected Victoria! It’s remarkable to learn that Australia is now virtually free of Covid-19 cases in the community. Long may this wonderfully good news continue. As you are also aware, there is much positive commentary of late in the media and from government about the progress with Covid-19 vaccine trials. We can but hope that some of the vaccines are approved for widespread ...use very soon and that we can once more see a complete and continuous relaxation of the internal state and territory borders in Australia. Over the last few months ago, as we have continued to keep our newsletters and Facebook posts to a minimum. Our priorities have been to be in constant contact with all our participants who were due to depart on our many international tours during this second half of 2020. Thank you again to the many of you who have contacted us during this time with your support and encouragement. This has been much appreciated and we have been heartened by your ever keen desire to get back to travelling the globe just as soon as it is possible to do so safely. Next year will be our 26th year of operation and we are looking forward to resuming our educational travel adventures once again in a safe and enjoyable manner. Since our company’s inception, our focus has been to connect people across cultures through travel and we remain committed to the principle that travel is a life-long learning experience to enrich and inspire you. As overseas travel is not possible at present, we have been asked by many of you to develop more tours within Australia, so that you can finally escape from home and learn more about our great country. We are now pleased, therefore, to offer a range of tours closer to home for you to consider. Please take a look at our website and see what new tours we are offering in Australia in 2021.

03.01.2022 Our intrepid small group has arrived safely in New Zealand and are enjoying blue skies and perfect weather, not to mention the local wine and produce, on Auckland's Waiheke Island with Golden Compass Tours very own Kiwi Program Leader, Louise Shave. They continue their Journey through New Zealand with Louise to the Bay of Islands, Rotorua, Napier, Wellington, Queenstown, Mount Cook and Christchurch. We are sure there will be more updates to follow.

02.01.2022 Amidst all the uncertainty and upheaval in the world at present, our wonderful team around the globe is thinking of you, your families and your friends and we hope that you are safe and well. We have been in regular contact with our many participants due to travel in the first half of 2020 and they are all aware of our inevitable cancellations. They fully appreciate that our main concern is their safety, along with the well-being of our Program Leaders and suppliers. These ar...e trying times and we would particularly like to say a heartfelt thank you to all our valued participants for the many emails and calls of support we have received in recent weeks. Regardless of where we live, it is clear that we are facing this challenge together. We are living through an extraordinary world event and it’s certainly not the way we expected to celebrate our Silver Anniversary year! For many of us, travel fulfills a basic need in our lives and, as Hilaire Belloc once wrote: We wander for distraction, but we travel for fulfillment. We think we do ‘travel’ pretty well at Golden Compass Tours. We’ve kept our e-newsletters to a minimum in recent weeks, as our priorities have been to be in constant contact with all our participants due to depart on our many tours during May through to August, providing updates and reassurance. We thank our loyal participants for their understanding during this tumultuous period. For those of you travelling with us on tours beyond 01 September 2020, we will, in the coming weeks and months, provide you with updates as and when we have them. Thank you all for your patience and understanding as we work through this volatile period. We are still looking forward to 2021 and many more years of providing you with exciting travel opportunities. We plan to reschedule most of the tours lost from this year’s program at about the same time next year. The Passion Play in Oberammergau has been postponed until 2022 and so we will also be looking at tours to include this extraordinary event in good time. We are also using our time to look at other fascinating possibilities which may be of interest to you. Further details will be sent to you in the coming months. Although no one has any idea when the threat of the virus will pass, it will and when it does, we will be here to welcome you on another Golden Compass Tour packed with fulfillment. Perhaps just a thought for us all in these anxious times! One positive thing to come out of the current situation we are all facing is that people seem to be making much more effort to stay in touch with each other. Perhaps take the time to contact some of your fellow travelling companions to say ‘hi’. We would be happy to put you in touch (complying with all privacy requirements, of course) if you have lost the contact details of those you have travelled with in the past. In the meantime, stay safe. With all best wishes from the Team at Golden Compass
