23.01.2022 An excellent article, well worth reading, particularly if you have a puppy or are about to buy one!

23.01.2022 Beware of scammers. This is an example of a scam currently doing the social media rounds. There are a few at this time. Please contact the Golden Retriever Club in your state to ensure breeders are reputable!

21.01.2022 ****** RE UNITED ****** Golden found Kingswood area. The current location of dog in the post below. Hope he finds his way home.

21.01.2022 Buyer beware.since our Government introduced the stay at home policy Golden Retriever puppy enquiries have gone through the roof with a 5-6 fold increase in demand. As a result, puppy farmers & back yard breeders are taking advantage of this situation. As these people breed purely for profit, they have no issues keeping their girls pregnant season after season, we are also seeing a huge hike in the price of a puppy. Pre COVID-19 the average puppy price was $3,000 to $3...,500. We are now seeing this type of breeder charge $5,000 to $6,000 for a puppy that doesn’t come with a certified ANKC (Australian National Kennel Council) pedigree certificate and has either no health testing or very limited health testing done on the parents. In short, you don’t know if you’re getting a pedigree/purebred puppy and you don’t know if it’s going to have a happy healthy life. Be very wary of these breeders, we urge buyers not to proceed with the purchase of a puppy in the following situations: If you feel things just don’t seem right. If the breeder wants money up front and claims things like non-refundable deposits (which is illegal in Australia). If you don’t get an ANKC pedigree certificate with your puppy. If you can’t see a copy of the hip & elbow certificate, for BOTH parents. If you can’t see a copy of the heart certificate, for BOTH parents. If you can’t see a copy of the eye certificate for BOTH parents. Noting that eye certificates must be dated within 12 months of the mating. Ideally your breeder should also be a member of their state breed club, in the case of NSW that is The Golden Retriever Club of NSW Inc. Club members are bound by a code of ethics of which most can be found on the respective club pages. Consider too, do you really need a puppy with the COVID-19 Pandemic in full play, how is that puppy going to fit into your family when this is all over? That old saying of BUYER BEWARE is more important at this time than ever before!

Whilst the Dogs NSW COVID-19 announcement on April 7 cancels events to June 30, the State & Federal Governments restrictions on travel will likely see both domestic and international travel impacted until the year end. Our National Sub Committee are working through the required processes to confirm new dates for 2021. Dates and information will be shared as soon as confirmation is received. Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding. Here's to 2021!

09.01.2022 Warning on imported dog food & treats from Asia.

08.01.2022 As ethical registered breeders we are saddened to see these poorly bred puppies being sold at over inflated prices, especially when there may be life long underlying issues. Unfortunately we are seeing this all too often. Eyes should be dark brown, well set apart with dark rims. A dark eye is a characteristic of the breed. Blue eyes suggest a mutation or these pups have been cross bred. Nose preferably black and the eye rim colour suggests this puppy will never have a black... nose. This seller is also selling a puppy with a heart murmur and suggests it usually goes away in 6 months. This is NOT always the case and the puppy should be assessed by a registered Specialist in Veterinary Cardiology. Please ensure you view the following health clearances of both parents. Clear Cardiac Examination form from a registered Veterinary specialist preferably a Registered Veterinary Cardiologist. Clear eye certificates from a qualified Specialist in Veterinary Ophthalmology. Genetic testing for PRA1 & PRA2 from a registered animal genetic testing lab. Hip & Elbow Dysplasia Grading Certificate. If in doubt always contact the Golden Retriever Club in your state to confirm if your breeder is Ethical and Registered. We wish these puppies a long happy life. See more

02.01.2022 The Golden Retriever Club of NSW Inc. is thinking of our Aussie farmers during this terrible drought. Here's a story of one farmer's dog who ... well I'll let you read the story.
