20.01.2022 13 months and 3 days ago Mr Read came into us a very sick little man over the last 12 months he has defied everyone and everything to survive multiple times and today was moved to the pre release pens to start the next part of his rehabilitation journey We at G.N.A.C would like to thank everyone who has worked hard on this bumpy journey through donations and words of support and especially all the vets and staff at the Kalgoorlie Animal Hospital who worked tirelessly day and nights to get this boy ready for his adult life

12.01.2022 Another successful rehabilitation Mr Quackles was found in a kalgoorlie back yard resting under the trees he couldn't fly very well and had some kind of powder all over his skin after a good bath Mr Quackles seemed to perk up but still wasent eating properly as he had formed ulcers in his mouth after a few weeks of rest and care he started to eat again and gain back strength now he is off on his next adventure and hopefully staying out of trouble

12.01.2022 RESCUING JOEYS We know you would rescue a joey in a heartbeat, so here's some information that will give you the confidence to do so, and give the joey its best chance of surviving long term. There are joeys in pouches now who are at an age where they need special people to save them. If you come across a dead kangaroo, wombat, koala or possum please check the pouch for live young, even if the animal has been dead awhile. ... Unfurred joeys attached to a teat need to have the teat cut off as close to the mothers body as possible, and a nappy pin sized pin put through the cut end so the joey does not swallow and choke to death on the teat. Please under NO circumstances pull a joey off its mothers teat. The damage done by doing this is often irrepairable and prevents the joey from being able to take a bottle.. The joey will release the teat in its own time and MUST be allowed to do so. Once this is done, then it is into a pouch, which you then need to put under your warm clothing, and against your skin so that your body heat keeps the joey warm. An unfurred joey, even if well wrapped and in a warm environment, will not keep their own heat, as they cannot thermo regulate until they have a decent coat of dense fur on them. Now having said that, a furred joey could be in shock and needs to be warmed up too. I cannot stress enough how important it is to keep them body temperature warm. Once you have the joey snug and warm against your skin and in no danger of swallowing a teat if you have cut it off, then it is time to ring a rescue group, or carer and get the joey into care asap to maximise its chances of surviving. There is no need to try to feed the joey, or to give it a drink of water. They require species specific milk formulas and to be warm, stable and assessed for shock or injury before they are given anything... So now you know what to do and why :) here is a list of rescue items to keep in your car. A NAPPY PIN A small pair of SCISSORS A substitute POUCH This can be a beanie, a flannelette pillowcase or a small blanket or warm jumper that be used to swaddle the joey, just as you would a human baby. A HEAT SOURCE Preferably your own body as it is the ideal temperature to keep a joey warm and viable. But, if you are queasy about putting a joey next to your skin and under your warm clothing, then the cheap shops have heat packs that you can crack that will keep a joey warm.. Please be very mindful though, if you use one that if the joey feels warmer than body temperature then it is too hot ! And lastly OUR PHONE NUMBER IN YOUR PHONE 0475282269

08.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all. Have a great day

08.01.2022 DO NOT USE sticky fly traps!

08.01.2022 These hands are capable of hurting a human yes. BUT, they have no desire to. Kangaroos will only attack if cornered or threatened. If you approach kangaroos i...n the wild, what do they do? They retreat. They seek out silence and solace for themselves and their families. There is only one hand in this picture that with the flick of a pen stroke can condemn these ancient creatures to death and that is humans. Killers and cruel people spread lies. Be on the opposite end of the spectrum and defend the innocent <3 Pictured: Mr Boo's hand See more

07.01.2022 **IMPORTANT INFORMATION** *HOW NOT TO TRANSPORT A JOEY* This little joey was lucky he was found, however, he is a little joey with no fur yet. He came out of mums nice warm pouch & was transported to meet a carer like this. The little baby was freezing cold by the time he was handed to a carer.... Please if you do rescue a joey, especially one that doesn't have fur, find something soft to wrap it in, even if you have to sacrifice your shirt & put it down your front. The joey will then stay warm from your body heat. NB. The joey was OK as carer popped him down her shirt immediately but if the time frame was longer unfortunately this baby would have succumbed to hyperthermia. For the animals
