18.01.2022 Fitness, fresh air and camaraderie with friends and colleagues is what motivates Stuart and Takeshi to go the extra mile for MS! Stuart and Takeshi are two MS Gong Ride virtual participants, taking part in this year’s event from Singapore. We interviewed Stuart and Takeshi to find out how they heard about the MS event and what motivated them to take part. Stuart said, I have ridden the Sydney to Wollongong race most years from 1990, however since in Singapore from 2012 I hav...e not been able to get back to join. MS is a fantastic cause, and with COVID restricting many, it has opened great opportunities to create virtual events, and raise money for a great cause. 15.01.2022 My name’s Zoey. I actually did the MS Gong Ride in 2019 when I was living in Wollongong. I moved to the US at the beginning of the year for work, just before the pandemic started. When I saw that the ride was going virtual this year, I thought it was a great chance to motivate myself to ride my bike a bit more while also helping a cause. I also really enjoyed doing the ride back home in Australia last year, and being able to participate from overseas makes me feel a bit clos...er to home. I need a big number to challenge myself and improve my fitness! The 82km ride last year was a good number to work towards. I haven't quite decided yet if I'll knock out the 82kms in one go, or spread it out over the month. In terms of where I'll be riding, I'm lucky that Reno is close to heaps of national parks and has a relatively large cycling scene. My tentative plans are to either ride along the Truckee River from Reno to Truckee (and back), or to do a long ride closer to Lake Tahoe." 15.01.2022 As we come to the end of such an unpredictable and extraordinary year, we wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU. Having the support of the whole MS community throughout has meant so much to people living with MS. But that's not all... Our Ambassador, Stephen, also wanted to pass on a special message to personally thank you himself.... Stephen has been living with MS for 25 years. "Your support means so much to me and other people living with multiple sclerosis. I was so moved to see our community go the distance to fight MS, for hours, days and weeks at a time, to make a difference to the lives of people living with MS. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for taking part in the MS Gong Ride to Fight MS!" Wishing you a safe and happy holiday season, a happy new year and we hope you’ll join us for our biggest year yet, as we celebrate the MS Gong Ride turning 40 in 2021! Have a fantastic break.

14.01.2022 With just a few days until the start of the MS Gong Ride Virtual, now is a perfect time to give your fundraising a boost! Did you know there’s a way you can easily double your donations? It’s called matched funding and it can take your fundraising to the next level!... Many companies have a program that will match ‘dollar for dollar’ the amount you or your team fundraise for charity. All you have to do is ask your employer. How great is that?! Some of our most successful fundraisers have jumped straight up the leaderboard thanks to supportive workplaces and matched funding! Plus double the funds means double the impact you have on the lives of people living with MS. So why not enter a team with your workmates? To get started, ask your HR department if your company matches funds or has a program to support charitable causes of employees. Discover more about matched funding as well as some helpful tips from our Ambassador Josh in the video or head over to our website: https://www.msgongride.org.au/teams/workplace-teams

12.01.2022 Constanza Fernandez is riding to fight MS in Chile! Coni said she was looking for new indoor challenges because she hasn’t been able to ride outside since March in Chile. She loves a personal challenge and will be riding from her home, a farm near Puerto Natales, in the Chilean Patagonia.... She is motivated by just wanting to keep moving for a cause, until they can return to ride outside. I don't have a close connection to someone living with MS, but know a few cases of public people with it here in Chile, so I know what is it about. It’s a great cause to ride for and I am proud to be part of the MS Gong Ride Virtual!

12.01.2022 As we push to the finish line in just a few days, we thought it was important to share Mark's story. Meet Mark, he's one of your fellow riders AND a person living with multiple sclerosis. In 2014, when Mark was 45 years old, he was diagnosed with MS when doctors found multiple lesions on his brain. As a result, he lost his job as a train driver. ... He was frustrated at the time, but since he’s not been able to work he’s been at home with his two beautiful kids, and he wouldn’t change it for the world, not for anything. Looking back at that time, Mark recalls one of the hardest days he endured that could have changed everything Read more of marks story here: https://www.msgongride.org.au/mark-story

06.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there! You hold a special place in our hearts and are a constant inspiration to us all! Just like Chris' father, ... "My name is Chris Stoddard and I cycle in the MS Gong Ride to support people living with MS one of them is my father. My dad’s name is Peter and we enjoyed being involved in all things to do with fitness. Together, we ran half marathons, sailed and cycled. But then Dad was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2010 and our world would never be the same. Ten years ago, dad and I ran in a half marathon at Lake Macquarie. Dad mentioned that day that when he bent his neck he experienced a mild electric shock. He knew straight away it wasn’t normal. Soon after, Dad was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and it was clear that he would never run again but, in Dad’s words: I could still walk, sail, and ride my bike. I would just adjust to the new normal, said Peter. Read More about Chris' Story and find out how taking part in the MS Gong Ride helps people living with MS. Iain says, "I completed my first MS Gong Ride back in 2017 to support a friend of mine, Matt, who had been recently been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and was having a rough time." "Matt had a young family and spent about two months between hospital and rehab that year. I had a Jersey made to encourage sponsorship and wanted to give the Jersey to Matt as a show of support." "Since that first year, I've continued participating in the MS Gong Ride to keep supporting Matt, but also to support others that are battling with MS that I've been fortunate enough to meet through my involvement in the ride.
