25.01.2022 As you may have noticed, I have a little obsession with cute vintage homewares I can't keep all of them so I've decided to sell a few each week. Prices and dimensions are in the comments for each Pick up North Canberra

25.01.2022 This beautiful natural cane coffee table has the most stunning side details and I was very fortunate to pick it up with the glass in absolutely perfect condition. It's been cleaned and re-oiled ready for a new home PM me for details

25.01.2022 Yay for the weekend!! This was a fun little transformation I did during the week. Again, my mother-in-law has pulled through with sourcing me some great furniture from Wollongong to work with! The hallstand started with a 'shabby chic' look on the legs, which looks great on a lot of furniture, but I felt like it was contradicting the beautiful wood veneer on top. So I decided to go BOLD and have lots of fun with a mustardy yellow on the bottom. The actual colour is a Taubmann...s Jasper Gold that I've made into a chalk paint. It's then been coated in a matte finish varnish. I've also given the top a good twice over with Orange Oil so it shines like new again. I LOVE this colour combination so much. It feels so much more spirited and could make for a fantastic feature piece in a room, for an entrance way or for holding many many plants This piece is for sale, PM me for dimensions and price See more

24.01.2022 I hope you all have a fantastic time with family, friends and eating lots of chocolate. These items are all now available in my shop or contact me for more info

24.01.2022 My final drop for the week. Everything (except my mum's plants that I'm looking after ) is available in my Facebook Shop. Click on the photo for direct links to each

24.01.2022 I've been sitting on SO many pieces on old pottery for quite some time. They are old, outdated and unmarked. I then found the AMAZING Geneva Vanderzeil on Instagram and her painted pottery projects. It's SO simple yet so effective. A mix of water based paint and baking powder create a textured and grainy paint, perfect for pottery. I've added my own spin with skyline painted images on some of my pots (stay tuned for more coming soon!) My pots are available now on my FACEBOOK SHOP!! Click on the 'SHOP' button on the top right hand corner. For Geneva's recipe follow this link: https://collectivegen.com/2020/04/trash-to-terracotta/

24.01.2022 I had ALMOST finished these cute bedside tables a couple of weeks ago but realised I hadn't put the handles on correctly so put them to side for a while (or in truth, until I could convince Matthew to do it for me , which was yesterday... TIP: home cooked food helps ) The super cute faux leather and gold handles are now in place ready to go! Thanks babe I've put together a full video on everything I did to transform these tables from wood to white so stay tuned! The tables have been primed, painted in a Cotton Sheets white chalk paint and sealed in a matte finish varnish. The drawers are on good quality runners. These are for sale, PM for dimensions and pricing

23.01.2022 Anyone else got some curly projects they've been working on? I've been restoring a couple of cane chairs this week that fit the bill. Some of the rattan had split on the seats (see before photo), which some might deem the end of days for an old chair, but this particular chair has lots of sentimental value to the owner, and you can see why, it's a beautiful shape, so she wants it restored and painted. I firstly cut the broken rattan to the bamboo seem so the two pieces had s...omething to be secured on. I then ordered in some rattan to replace where it's been broken and then cut them on an angle so the new pieces can sit securely against the existing ones on top of the bamboo. With some wood glue and bindings on top it's now firmly secured in place, ready for a paint! All in all, although it takes a bit of manoveuring, if you do have any pieces of cane furniture in this state that you are wondering whether it's worth or possible to save, it definitely is! 21.01.2022 Happy Friday everyone! Jen transformed this vintage telephone table into something fun and modern and I couldn't help but show it off! Her daughter seems to love it just as much as I do it has a lovely shabby chic look to it and the blue fabric is

19.01.2022 I'm still super stoked about these beautiful finds The two cane chairs have been cleaned, oiled and reupholstered in a fabulous highly durable luxe velvet upholstery fabric. The little side table has also been oiled and sanded where needed. All are available for sale. PM me for details

19.01.2022 SOLD Yep, we are still waiting for our little one to arrive! So in between naps today and binge watching the Bachelor, I got some photos of finished projects that I hadn't snapped yet. This beautiful little cane side table has come from sunny Wollongong. Another beautiful find by my mother-in-law. It's been cleaned, oiled and some bindings repaired. It's for sale, message me for details

17.01.2022 'What if I fall? Oh but my darling what if you fly?' I hope you all don't mind a little bit of nursery spam this week I've been doing some serious nesting over the last month, but we have now officially finished the nursery!! This chair and ottoman I picked up from Facebook Marketplace for FREE earlier in the year. I loved that the previous owner had used it in each of her nurseries for her 4 children. You can tell, it was covered in texta marks . Now that her children a...re older, she decided to pass it on. I reupholstered the chair in a beautiful and super soft grey fabric and the ottoman in a faux fur that I bought from Spotlight for $10. I found the ottoman fabric in the off-cuts section, was originally $70 PER METRE, but because it was the last bit remaining, I got it for a fraction of the price. Not going to lie, it was a bit of a mission to re-upholster the chair, but not as labour intensive as I thought it would be. Reupholstering a chair like this involves tracing then cutting each section of fabric from the original chair, and resewing it together just like it was. My advice; don't take short cuts, the more you take your time, the more it will pay off in the end as all your pieces will fit together much more smoothly. For the ottoman, I ended up just making a cover, which made it soooo much easier! I measured up each part then sewed it together and placed it on top. I've put some progress shots together of the transformation in my stories See more

17.01.2022 Yay for feature Friday! I stumbled across these beauties on Facebook Marketplace while feeding my little one at like 2am a couple of days ago I still can't get over how well done these little nested tables are by the lovely Denise. The mixture of paint colours and decoupage is stunning! Denise retired to Batemans Bay after 20+years working in APS in Canberra and discovered furniture restoration and revamping. It's become a ful time hobby/obsession. She works out of her ...garage and sells via marketplace and a few little outlets along the coast under the name "Rescued Treasures" Small scale but lots of fun and reduces the carbon footprint. The nest of tables was rescued from landfill. They were filthy, very rough and in need of lots of repairs. She decoupaged the tops with gorgeous floral papers from Bespoke Letterpress and Stationery and used different base colours to complement the paper. The paint is from Made by Paint. She tried to use Austrailan made products wherever possible. See more

16.01.2022 I revamped this desk back in July/August. It was a birthday present for my niece Lucy. She has just started school and has a love of reading and writing. I hope that many a story is crafted on this desk We picked the desk up from the Green Shed back in June. The desk was very old and had multiple layers of paint. It was black, then purple, then white for a time. I had to not only clean and sand, I used an eco-friendly paint remover to help get off the many, many layers of ...paint. I then sanded it again, primed and painted in white. I finished in about 3 layers of a gloss varnish to give it extra shine I kept the original handles as I loved the vintage look, and they will never look too young for her as she gets older. I just made a paste of white vinegar, flour and water and soaked multiple times. I also got the beautiful abacus as a baby shower gift. These are handmade by the very talented @Heidi Di Dio I've put the full transformation in my stories See more

15.01.2022 Happy Easter everyone. This beautiful weather is perfect for egg hunts and reflecting on everything good in the world. It's been a long while since I've been to church, but as a child, this time always meant a lot to me. To me, it's a reminder of the power that love, sacrifice, and compassion has on weathering hard times and appreciating the good, and most importantly, a reminder that everyday is filled with many small and big choices, to try and choose the ones that will do even the tiniest bit of good

14.01.2022 I'm a sucker for these super cute miniature baby cane shelves they are available through my Facebook shop.

14.01.2022 We are still waiting for the little one to arrive In the meantime, I'm super excited to show you all our nursery. I thought it was a fitting place to have lots of my repurposed furniture. We had so much fun putting it together over the last couple of months and I can't believe we get to show it to her any day now

13.01.2022 SOLD Who doesn't love a well made blanket box? I have quite a few at home. This one is definitely something special! All cleaned and repaired, ready for a new home PM me for pricing and dimensions

13.01.2022 SOLD This beautiful light cream vintage wicker shelf is the stuff of dreams I picked it up from a family who had recently changed their decor to a modern style so it no longer suited their house. The glass was incredibly well looked after and so was the wicker, it just needed a clean and a repaint. I kept it the same cream colour as I loved the light and warm feel to it. This beautiful piece of furniture is for sale. Pm me for dimensions and price

13.01.2022 Happy Friday everyone! It's been a while, but Feature Friday is back! This week I'm featuring the stunning work of Britt Labutte, a local and lovely Canberrian upcycler. She has transformed this wooden hallstand into a spectacular piece of furniture. She framed the mirror with a hand made stencil and chalk painted with 'Pebble' & 'linen white. Sealed with durable Matt finish clear for added protection. It's such a creative and beautiful way to transform a piece of outdated wooden furniture into something unique and timeless. I believe it is for sale, make a comment and I'm sure she will respond

12.01.2022 This stunning set of cane furniture (two seater not pictured as it was way too big to get proper photos ) went back home today. Sarzi came to me with the frames that needed a good clean and re-paint, but after struggling with sorting out new cushions (it's a time consuming process), she decided to hand the revamping over to someone who had a bit more time available. She has a great eye for beautiful furniture. This was a truely stunning cane lounge suite. It just needed a bit of love. She chose the colour and I went ahead and arranged the cushions, fabric and upholstered them to size. I also did a few coats of paint to get them back to the original bright white. I'll have another similar cane single seater available for sale in the coming week. For anyone interested, stay tuned

12.01.2022 I couldn't help but get lots and lots of photos of this beautiful set The dresser with cane details on the side, has been reprimed and repainted in white. I was able to get my hands on a matching bedhead that can also be used behind the dresser to display photos, pictures or hang Devils Ivy. A magazine rack and mirror is available as well. This entire set is available for sale. PM me for dimensions and pricing

12.01.2022 SOLD Yay to ticking off another piece of the cane furniture set off the list! This one is a little smaller and higher than the last and was in a much greater state of disrepair. It had originally been coated with a thick varnish that had, over the years, cracked on both shelves. I sanded back each shelf so that it was an even surface, put on a coat of primer and then did three coats of white paint all over. It's now looking as good as the day it was purchased I'm also a l...ittle proud of the lamp shade I repurposed. I found two matching lamps and shades at the Green Shed last week for $5 each. The shade was pretty worse for wear so I bought some fabric from Spotlight, found a Youtube video and away I went! If anyone is interested in how I did this, let me know and I can do a seperate post Oh and the table is for sale, PM me for details See more

09.01.2022 This photos represents everything that Good as Old is about and I'm so incredibly proud of what we have done here @paighe_brockmann. Paighe foraged many of these beautiful homewares from her hometown and I brought these old nested tables back to life(the before photos are in my stories). Finding value in old things and seeing something for what it can be instead of throwing away is what inspired me to start this business over a year ago. Stay tuned for MANY more incredible transformations

09.01.2022 Feature Friday is back! For those new to my page, on Fridays, I love to feature another furniture artists work to showcase all the amazing things that can be done with old and vintage furniture. Beth Made It does the most beautiful revamping of antique and vintage chairs in Canberra, especially the good old balloon back style. She mixes and matches vibrant/bold paint colours with beautiful fabrics to give a unique and homely feel to her chairs. Which is your favourite? I think mine is the native floral pink and brown print She also revamps old tea saucers into high tea/ serving towers that are super cute and unique. Check out her page

09.01.2022 SOLD I couldn't believe my eyes when I came across this Cane Honeymoon Breakfast set in pristine condition. The lady I bought it from had had it since the 1970s. It is was obviously one of her prized possessions. After moving from the Goldcoast to Canberra, she no longer had the space for it so decided to re-home. I still can't believe how well cared for it was, the glass has no scratches, and the cane is still completely intact and unweathered. All I've done is give it a good oil. I've also reupholstered the seats in an upholstery grade mustard velvet, cause who doesn't love mustard these days?! My mum loves mustard so much she even bought a size 000 mustard outfit in anticipation of the arrival of my little baby so they can match outfits This true retro, and truly loved set of furniture is ready for a new home. PM me for details

08.01.2022 This is one of the several cane pieces I have been working on over the last couple of weeks. It came with a glass top that was VERY worse for wear. However, I was so in love with the base I decided I had to do something with it. After much pondering, I trialed the good old wood cutting section at Bunnings. I measured up the top, picked out a piece of sturdy MDF, and had a lovely gentleman cut to size for me. When I got home, I glued and screwed the frame in to place and fille...d in the gaps on the sides between the frame and the wood with my wood filler. I then painted the whole thing white again. Although I've made it sound easy, it was actually quite a bit of work getting the table top to fit the frame. I used A LOT of wood filler and had to do multiple sessions so that it looked even. I'm really happy with the result though! What would you have done with this frame? It's also available for sale for anyone interested. PM me for details See more

06.01.2022 I can definitely relate to this

04.01.2022 It's another Feature Friday! With a new little baby taking up all of my time I haven't had the chance to do any upcycling lately. Instead, I've loved following the journeys of other furniture revampers doing their thing! CJ revamped this shelf that she picked up from the Franklin Tip Shop in Tasmania. Originally it was a plain timber and it bad shape. Her husband fitted a bottom shelf in to it then she painted it using a Dulux chalk paint. The image transfer is from Bird on the Hill Designs. Everything except the robin image is sourced from op shops, cannisters, cups and saucers etc. She bought a house recently and had been renovating and upcycling mostly with second hand and recycled items. The work she does is amazing https://www.facebook.com/birdonthehilldesigns/

04.01.2022 SOLD I hope everyone has had a nice weekend and for those in Canberra, managed to stay out of the rain and snow! I picked up a beautiful set of vintage cane furniture last week from a lady downsizing to a smaller place. She had a bedroom full of stunning cane furniture that she had available for visitors. These pieces were incredibly well made, just needed a repaint and in some cases, a full sand back of the paint as the varnish had cracked on top. This beautiful large side ...table is the first of many pieces I'll be putting up for sale as I slowly make my way through refinishing the set. I'd also like to take a minute to appreciate the beautiful arrangement I bought from Boujee Bloom, a designer dried floral artist here in Canberra. She has JUST opened her little business and does the most incredible work. Originally, I was just getting photos of her beautiful arrangement for her and I to use on our social accounts (me for furniture and her for the arrangements) but my partner loves them so much he isn't letting me take them back so we have bought them off her This beautiful white cane side table is for sale. PM for dimensions & price. See more

04.01.2022 This is another beautiful piece I picked up from the lovely ladies at Art by Anders. All the side detailing had been damaged and the colour faded. Its been repaired and re-stained. The second photo is of Helen, one of the owners at AbA, and Adeline. Adeline fell in love as soon as she met Helen so now I just hand her straight over while I go rumaging thanks for your baby sitting Helen!

03.01.2022 Sometimes you just need to go out on a high this is one of the last pieces I'll be revamping for a little while and it's something I've definitely put a lot of love in to over the last couple of months. I finally put the finishing touches together for the fabric on Friday. Originally, it was a bright blue with a block red cushion . It has now been repainted in white. I've done three coats using a paint spray gun so I can get in all the crevices. It's then been finished with a high gloss varnish for added protection. The fabric took me a while to decide on... I felt like it needed something a little dreamy, that stands out but not too much, something that's says, life is just a little bit brighter now that I'm here Check out my stories for the full transformation process. It's for sale, DM me for details

01.01.2022 For those who have been following my page for a while, you know I love making my own chalk paint for my painted projects. I use water based paints that I buy from the paint shop at Bunnings, mixed with water and calcium carbonate. It gives a beautiful matte finish. As much as the branded chalk paints are amazing to work with, I find they are insanely expensive. Has anyone tried a homemade chalk paint recipe and what were the results? I'm currently working on a nude pink wall hanging shelf can't wait to show you all
