I did say that I wasn’t going to make the 3 layered masks as the extra fabric isn’t easy to sew through in the pleated version, so a change of style was necessary. I picked up a large remnant piece of fabric yesterday from @reversegarbage and sewed these beauties up this morning - made in an envelope style with no need for a zipper. I’m pretty happy with how they turned out! GOODCLOTH got a mention in @frankiemagazine as one of the many busy mask makers out there making you cloth masks!! Yippee! Here is a sneak preview of new patterns that will be uploaded tomorrow - they will be available to purchase from 6pm Friday 24th of July.... I've changed things around a little - I'm now doing adult and child sizes instead of small, medium and large (to make things easier and faster). Dimensions will be listed in the product details in the store. Not all previous patterns will be available again this time and due to the Australia-wide shortage of elastic (it's the new must-have item, seriously - just like the toilet paper saga) I will have to source an alternative stretchy product when I run out. These simple 2 layer masks are made with printed cotton or cotton/linen blend fabrics on the outer layer, with white homespun cotton on the inner layer. I’m currently not making 3 layer masks, and I won’t be using any water-resistant or polyester fabrics. Please don’t forget to adjust the elastic ear loops to fit the masks comfortably against your face - the sides should be flat and the front should cover your nose and mouth. 03.01.2022 Plastic-free July Day 19: D.I.Y. Beeswax Wraps. All you need is beeswax, cotton fabric and an oven to make your own beeswax wraps. Line a baking sheet with baking paper and place a piece of fabric on top (cut the fabric to the size that you’d like and use pinking shears along the edges to prevent fraying). Sprinkle beeswax pellets, (or grate beeswax) onto the fabric and distribute a liberal amount all over right to the edges. Pop the tray in a pre-heated 180 degree oven until... the wax has melted over the fabric evenly and looks glossy. Carefully pick up the wrap by 2 of the corners and wave it gently to cool down and stiffen. That’s it! You now have a beeswax wrap to use in place of cling wrap.
