23.01.2022 Cartwheeling into the weekend like Calm and happy vibes

21.01.2022 In light of all the unknowns with COVID-19 at the moment, Dante and I feel it best to postpone the face to face workshop event. GOOD NEWS is that we are planning to go online with this workshop for FREE... we will use it as an introduction with the intention of doing the workshop once we know more about when the restrictions of meeting together and social distancing is lifted. Learning online is nothing new but we can set a good foundation for what we are trying to achieve with this workshop. Which is knowledge...and knowledge is power! @thedanteamato will be in touch with those of you who purchased a ticket. And well gather interest on a live zoom in smaller groups... so stay tuned!!!

21.01.2022 Does your baby have a head turning preference? Do they prefer to feed on one breast more than the other? Or is bub ravaging your nipples and attaching poorly? Does your baby like tummy time or scream the house down every time you put them on their tummy? We as parents are recommended to sleep our babies on their backs to lower the risk of SIDS*; because of this our babies tend to be on their backs ALOT in the early weeks of life, - they sleep alot, travel in car seats and... prams... all on their back (which is the right thing to do!). But our beautiful babies heads are heavy and soft (in comparison to their teeny tiny necks), and if there isnt symmetry in their system they may prefer one side more than the other, because its more comfortable. One of the common things chiropractors may see a young baby for in practice, is when a baby is preferring to look to one side more than the other, you or your Maternal Child Health nurse may have noticed a flattened or misshapen head, or that maybe your baby does not appear to have the strength to lift up on tummy time, or is upset when doing so. When we assess a baby we gently check for full and even head/neck rotation, hips and spinal assessment, as well as checking the cranial and dural system for asymmetry. We get a full history of pregnancy and birth and what was involved (forceps, vacuum, quick birth... long birth etc) - We work to collaborate with your chosen medical health practitioners and suggest appropriate referral if necessary as well as at-home exercises for your bub! So if you answered YES to any of the above questions DM and see how we may be able to help you. Read up on why its important to have your bubs head turning preference assessed. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28009719/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4867076/ *https://www.rch.org.au//fact/Plagiocephaly_misshapen_head/

20.01.2022 Tools of the trade.... ice blue rub for those sore muscles - a natural blend of plant extracts such wintergreen, peppermint and German chamomile And an Activator - if you havent been to a chiropractor we are trained to use an instrument called an activator. This is a hand held device that gives the ability to deliver a gentle impulse force to the spine with the goal of restoring motion to the targeted spinal vertebra or join...t (quote referenced below). Because the speed of the activator is so fast it beats the muscles tightening up in response to the adjustment - It may be used in place of manual manipulation. The activator is a gentle approach to adjusting and is one of the techniques used in both adults and children in practice. With over 20 clinical trials conducted relating to results and efficacy - have a read below for more info - - - https://www.activator.com/research/. https://www.spine-health.com//activator-method-chiropracti. #activator #gentlechiropractic #chiropractor #spinalhealth #chiropracticadjustment #chiropractorforkids #chiropractorbulleen #chiropractordoncaster

19.01.2022 The symmetry of the pelvic bones and sacroiliac joints working effortlessly together may take load and pressure off other joints. Ever wondered why your knee or ankle pain never quite resolves regardless of the copious rehab exercises you do...When there is rotation or asymmetry in the pelvis, the body compensates and distributes the load to other joints...such as lower back, knees, ankles and even the neck! By starting with a stable functioning pelvic system we can begin to... restore function to other parts of the body that may have been working harder than they should be! As part of our assessment of sacroiliac joint and pelvic function we evaluate leg length discrepancy. Studies have shown that one leg pulling up shorter than the other - albeit functionally) may increase the risk of osteoarthritis in knees, hips and lumbar spine. So come in for a spinal/pelvic assessment and we may be able to help you! 12.01.2022 Before I became a Chiropractor my older children went from a very young age. I always felt safe and felt like I had another person to collaborate with in my childrens health and wellbeing (alongside the maternal child health nurse (MCHN) and GP). The techniques used were modified to suit the growing body and spine and gentle movements and mobilisations made me feel safe and comfortable. I found the results so amazing that I wanted to become a chiropractor myself! We have c...ome a long way even 13 years ago from my first experience but one thing remains is SAFETY when the Health Minister of Victoria was concerned with safety and the possibility of injury and harm, an independent study was performed in Australia. The stats speak for themselves. But the thing that stands out the most for me as a practitioner, and more importantly a parent is that there has been NO serious adverse events reported or claimed in insurance involving the care of a child by a chiropractor. 98% of people that submitted responses (21,824) said that chiropractic helped their child and there was improvement after treatment! This is AMAZING. So why not PM me for more details and information on the gentle techniques we use at Goodness Family Chiropractic #chiropractic #gentlechiropractic #healthandwellness #childshealth #chiropracticandkids #safechiropractic #chiropractordoncaster #chiropractorbulleen #supportourchildrenshealth #supportourcommunity

11.01.2022 EAT~PLAY~SLEEP - how it should be for a child.maybe all of us Dr Stuart Shanker in his book Self-Reg* talks about understanding a childs behaviour verses managing their behaviour. This is discussed as misbehaviour verses stress behaviour which is a tricky one to navigate, especially when parents sometimes struggle to have that awareness within themselves (me included). Determining whether they are being naughty or at their tipping point. What things hap...pened to build up to this point? Are they even being rational? Stress behaviour is physiological - they may not be able to control their actions - theyre in "flight and fight" and their bodies tell them they are in survival mode! If your child happens to have an explanation for their actions, regardless whether it makes sense or not to you - its likely that they knew what they were doing and they were potentially misbehaving. BUT if they are flipping out, irrational, emotional and melting down - its highly likely that reason and awareness did not play a role in this instance. Did they have enough sleep? food? a hard day at school? - is school hard for them?...do they finally feel safe to react at home - have they been holding it in all day??? If we can get our kids (and us as parents) to recognise what the lead up was to when they reacted a certain way, or did a certain thing - and bring awareness to how they felt when they did the wrong thing - they learn to become more self-aware. Hands up if we all need a little self-regulation in our lives! #selfreg #selfregandchiropractic #chiropractorbulleen *An AMAZINg read - Self-Reg - How to help your child (and you) break the stress cycle and successfully engage with life. 05.01.2022 Does your child enjoy the park? climbing, scaling playgrounds, swinging high on the swings? Do they seem to fall over a lot or bump into things? Can they catch and throw a ball? Hand eye co-ordination a bit off? My child doesnt play sport - its not his/her thing. . They arent very co-ordinated. ... Its true - they avoid what doesnt feel right or comfortable for them! Consider that they may have balance issues. In practice we assess a beautiful little system that sits on the top of our brainstem called the cerebellum - its responsible for our upright posture, smoothness of motor patterning and co-ordination of movements - there are two hemispheres one on the right and left. And if one (or both sides) isnt firing smoothly it can leave you feeling a bit out of sorts, and unsure where your centre of gravity is. If you dont know where your body is in space/gravity its sure to make going to the park or playing sport an overwhelming experience. This ties in nicely with the vestibular system (but well talk about that beauty later). DM me for any questions, we may be able to help your child rock the court, sports field or even just enjoy the park. and have the confidence to play with their friends!

03.01.2022 Getting ready to make up some mini testers for my patients to take home... how cute are they! I LOVE integrating oils into my treatments. I feel it personalizes the experience....for a child wired up after school I may give them Balance, for an upset tummy I may use DigestZen. Whether Mum or Dad help them use the roller behind the ears and wrists, a dab on the soles of their feet, or just a couple of drops on the hands with big deep breaths. My hope is your child leaves us feeling a little more centered

03.01.2022 Our brains are extremely complex and powerful! Most people have never heard of the term brain imbalance and yet it is the root cause of so much suffering. Th...e most common brain imbalance occurs between the two hemispheres of the brain; the scientific name is a functional disconnection. Essentially it is a lack of connection, communication and integration between networks on either side of the brain. This lack of integration is most commonly a result of a developmental imbalance or developmental asynchrony. This means that one side of the brain is delayed or slowed in its development which causes the other to mature and grow faster. This imbalance in growth and maturity prevents the two sides of the brain from properly integrating. This results in an unevenness of functional abilities where one side of the brain is advanced or even too strong relative to the other side which has skills and functions that are underdeveloped and weaker. Obsessive, compulsive or hyperactive behavior is an example of the left hemisphere being too strong and producing symptoms. . . . . . #autism #melillomethod #adhd #ocd #asd #behavior #brainhealth #brainchat
