25.01.2022 The Ode comes from For the Fallen, a poem by the English poet and writer Laurence Binyon and was published in 1914. This verse, which became the Ode for the Returned and Services League, has been used in association with commemoration services in Australia since 1921. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning... We will remember them. See more

07.01.2022 Sisters of the Good Samaritan Study and Mentoring Leadership Program Applications Invited for 2021 Since its foundation and throughout its 163 year history, the Sisters of the Good Samaritan have been committed to the flourishing of women. The Sisters have educated girls and women from pre-school to tertiary levels. They also have been engaged in adult education and adult faith formation. Not only have the Sisters educated women, they have companioned them as mentors, counsel...lors, spiritual directors and simply as friends. The Good Samaritan Sisters recognise the need for women’s leadership within the Church for only when women contribute their experience and wisdom, can the Church truly fulfil God’s mission. The Church suffers when women’s gifts are not called upon. SAM Leadership Program The Good Samaritan Study and Mentoring (SAM) Leadership Program offers both financial and personal support to mature-aged Catholic women (30 years and over), as they undertake undergraduate or post-graduate theological/spiritual study at a recognised theological institution. The program includes financial assistance for tertiary theological study to a maximum of $8,000 per year. The grant can be spent on tuition or other expenses associated with the completion of the qualification. A core component of the program is the opportunity for regular personal support, spiritual direction and/or mentoring. Opportunities will also be provided for participants to gather twice a year to share their experiences and to explore questions arising from their study in conversation with experienced women leaders in the Church. Gatherings may be held in person or via Zoom. Selection Criteria Catholic woman 30 years and over Interest in both the study and mentoring components of the program Identification of current study being undertaken or a proposed course at a recognised theological institution Evidence of leadership exercised in any context. Leadership experience in a not-for-profit organisation or a faith-based institution will be highly regarded Special consideration will be given to women who are experiencing financial hardship or who live in isolated communities. Applications close November 29, 2020. For further information or to request an application pack please email: [email protected] See more
07.01.2022 When women question the status quo with openness, frankness and boldness, they are ignored or figuratively told to go away by male gatekeepers, writes Good Samaritan Sister Patty Fawkner in The Good Oil, March 2021. https://www.goodsams.org.au//while-we-can-celebrate-small/
03.01.2022 Just beautiful.
03.01.2022 Rosebank mourns the loss of a great servant to both Rosebank and the greater community, John Hawley. The first lay principal of Rosebank College, John led Rose...bank from 1980-2001 through great change and progress. Under his leadership, Rosebank, a Good Samaritan College, was re-established as a non-systemic Catholic school, resumed full secondary education and established itself as the first Catholic school in the area to offer secondary co-education. Remembered fondly as a firm but fair leader who remembered every student's name, John made a lasting impact on all of his students and staff. We are forever grateful for John's dedication and vision. Rosebank welcomes family, friends and the current and past Rosebank community to join us for a Memorial Service on Friday, 21 May at 6pm at Rosebank College in Five Dock. Please register your attendance: http://bit.ly/JHawleyMemorialService
