01.01.2022 St James Art and Craft Exhibition 2018 Newsletter Thank you to those artists who have already sent in their entry formsyou are really ahead of the game. We hav...e some good news for all of you: there will be two prizes this year, open to all visual artists. 1 The Mission to Seafarers will award $200 for the best painting on a maritime theme. This prize is non-acquisitive. 2. The Friends of St James will give $200 for an illustration that will be used as a correspondence card. An image for the card can represent any physical aspect of St James’ Cathedral, its art, its Christian message, its symbols or even its activities. We are not looking for a photograph, but a painting, drawing, print or graphic design as the original artwork. The winning entry will then be reproduced for sale to locals and visitors as a memento of their visit with the image forming the front of a card measuring 10.5cm by 15 cm (or 15cm by 10.5cm according to orientation) when folded. Therefore the finished artwork should be submitted in a scale that can be reduced to the dimensions of 10.5 x 15 cm for printing purposes without losing any of the original image, for example 21 cm x 30 cm, 42 cm x 60 cm etc. The copyright in the winning work will pass to the Friends of St James. Our conditions require works to be framed with D hooks and wires ready for hanging and sale. If you wish to submit an unframed design please get in touch with me. If you were so well organised that you have already submitted your form, you are welcome to send another adding your entry for either or both of the prizes. Entry forms are due 30 June 2018, and entries themselves must be delivered to the Cathedral between 1.00 and 3.00 pm on Sunday 22 July. Please invite your family and friends to the opening on July 25. We are not charging an entry fee for the works or the competitions, however, we would be grateful if you could bring a plate to help with our hospitality at the opening.
