25.01.2022 Sometimes in a family business the little ones have to pitch in too

25.01.2022 One of the things I love about living in Tasmania is cycling through the four seasons. Did you know that your business goes through seasons? Heres a link to a great article about it https://lnkd.in/gF-BzGx The main ideas are below...... Spring - Possibility and potential - New plans - New energy and drive. Focus on - Planting the right seeds in the right soil and intense nurturing Summer - Hot and sticky - it can be hard to maintain focus - Flowers are blooming and early fruit starts to form - Without watering things can dry out Focus on - Maintenance and nurture. Autumn - Harvest - time to reap the benefits of the hard work! - Prepare for winter. Invest, store, spend Focus on - Enjoying the benefits of your hard work Winter - Rest, reflect and restore. - Let go of some things and be open to new things. - Things feel dormant and dead but remember spring is coming. Focus on - Rest. Which season is your business in? Does this idea resonate? #coworking #seasons #smallbusiness

23.01.2022 Yay!! So grateful to you all!!

23.01.2022 2 plants, same soil These plants are growing side by side in the same soil. Both are a variety of Samphire or glasswort. One appears dead and the other thriving. However, despite appearances, both plants are actually thriving. ... Ground covering samphire goes through a period of dormancy in winter, returning lush, green and juicy (great for seasoning salads or garnishing) in spring. Shrubby samphire looks good year round but its always too woody to eat. We cant really compare ourselves with others or our businesses with others based on a snapshot in time. Sometimes appearances can be deceiving and there are always more factors at play in the background than we realise. At Good Soil were committed to nourishing your plant regardless of how it looks because we know theres a lot we dont know! #coworking #sharedoffice #samphire

22.01.2022 What do you love about your workplace? One of my favourite things about Good Soil Coworking is the ‘Women in Business’ group run by Rachael Downie which meets fortnightly in our space. ... I love providing an environment that fosters connection and growth. The collective wisdom in the room is incredible and it’s an honour to spend time with them, learning and contributing. The energy and synergy that happens in that meeting carries on throughout the week as some of these remarkable women (Jane Clark... Natural Body Mechanics... Complete Body Harmony...Salt Brands & Marketing)bring their businesses into my space in a variety of ways. I love providing something that benefits them and in doing so benefits me! I’m discovering that when business is done well, everyone wins. There are no losers. If you’re interested in connecting with our group or discussing how Good Soil Coworking can serve you and your smallbusiness I’d love to have a chat!

22.01.2022 Aw thanks Rachael!

15.01.2022 To the Immigrants, refugees ex-pats and aliens... to those who carry nations within them... May you find good soil. Today is Canada day and as a Canadian July 1 is a time when I reflect on and acknowledge the original soil from which I grew. To be both Canadian and Australian is a privilege I am so grateful for. ... Canada received my immigrant grandparents who fled war torn Europe and gave them a safe place to heal and grow their families and lives. Australia and particularly Tasmania has given me a place to build on the foundation laid by the generations that went before. For many this story plays out differently and they dont find the welcome they had hoped for. In our small corner of the world we want to create space for you. To those who carry other lands within you, regardless of how you ended up where you are, may you find good soil to put down your roots. May you find a unique combination of the old and the new to draw from so that you and all who are planted with you flourish. At Good Soil we love being connected to you and your unique story. Do you carry nations within you? #canadaday #canadian #expat #coworking #sharedoffice #immingrant

15.01.2022 Anyone else grateful for their coffee this morning? In Kingston its a chilly 5 degrees but Im feeling the love... At Good Soil Coworking, as much Pod and parcel pod coffee as you can drink is included. #coffeetime #coworking #remotework #productivity

14.01.2022 The perfect desk I always wanted the perfect work desk. When I finally found it, I couldnt go back so I bought some to share!! At Good Soil, all our desks are electric height adjustable and B.I.G. This means you can easily transition between sitting and standing without disturbing your desk setup. Each desk is 160x80cm which gives you plenty of space to spread out. Ive found working at a standing desk has kept me moving and helped me maintain focus.... During iso - school, we took advantage of the giant desks. Im pretty sure the kids spent more time playing with the desks than doing school work! Safe to say, all desks have been tested extensively and work well! Now the kids are back at school and youre welcome to come try them out!! #coworking #sharedoffice #remotework #ergonomics #healthyoffice

14.01.2022 The beauty of having a flexible space means we can easily respond to requests. Tomorrow an art show is being hung in our seminar room (so exciting!!!) so weve converted our coworking space into a temporary meeting room. Our coworkers can use other spaces, our therapists can continue and everyones needs are met. ...

13.01.2022 Meet Jane Clark Jane is a talented financial planner. Its hard to describe what she actually does but her tagline, WISDOM + KNOWLEDGE + STRATEGY for your business sums her business up pretty well. ... Jane will patiently listen to you tell her what you think you need and then shell tell you what you actually need and give you an easy step by step plan to get there. Shes transparent, ethical and smart. Jane usually works out of her home office but enjoys working at Good Soil one or two days a week and often uses our meeting room. She says she enjoys having people around and working in the space increases her productivity. 13.01.2022 Lets talk about healthy soil for growing small businesses. At Good Soil Coworking we believe healthy growth starts with the quality of the soil, meaning the workplace environment and culture. We want to create a workplace experience filled with the nutrients that give local small businesses and the people within them the best environment to grow and thrive. If you were starting from scratch, creating an ideal workplace, what would be your most essential ingredient?... For me, actively respecting, honouring and valuing people are top of the list. What do you think? #coworking #workplaceculture #healthyoffice

12.01.2022 Meet Olivia Bowman known as ORBmaker! Theres something about sitting down for a cuppa with an artist that helps one see things from a different perspective. Olivia Bowmans art practice is constantly evolving. She loves transforming the obsolete into the beautiful and strange. Olivias photographs feature in our space and shes been involved in the project since the beginning. Shes also an incredibly kind and thoughtful person we love having around.... One of the best things about a coworking space is the opportunity to spark interesting, unplanned conversations with people outside our usual bubble. A shift in perspective even for a few moments can trigger new ideas and inject new life into our work. Do you have someone in your life who challenges your perspective? Find her as Orbmaker on facebook or insta https://instagram.com/orbmaker?igshid=1han258hxmi05 #coworking #sharedoffice #artist #perspective

12.01.2022 Dancing with mountains Last night I went to the cinema and watched the 70th Warren Miller movie, a skiing documentary. An annual event for those obsessed with the sport. The thing about skiing is that its purely about being in the moment. Its about a feeling. Nothing can compare to the feeling of skis beneath, flying down the side of a mountain. You bring your body and your skill-set to a mountain and dance with it. ... To truly dance with a mountain, years of preparation are needed. The right equipment is essential. But the dance itself requires a letting go and surrender. Its a Flow state where there is a moment to moment balance of bringing all of that past experience to what the mountain demands. Its exhilarating and all consuming and so much fun. At Good Soil, we want to help you dance with mountains in your business. We understand the importance of flow. We aim to create an environment where you can get into a flow state and bring all your experience and skill to the moment to produce work that is meaningful and inspired. What mountains have you danced with and what is your experience of flow? #sharedoffice #coworking #flowstate #skiing

Come say hi to Monster next time youre in!

09.01.2022 Early fruit Yesterday at Good Soil we got the opportunity to taste some early fruit. ... One of the things we are passionate about is the vibe of the place. That wonderful atmospheric thing that happens when good, interesting people connect with one another. That atmosphere is like fruit though. It cant be manufactured. But by feeding the plant the right ingredients and nurturing it, eventually it pops out spontaneously. Yesterday we had a taste of that. Business got done, projects made progress, meetings were held, a podcast was recorded and business and life were shared over cups of coffee. A psychologist, a financial planner and my dad has a chat about a leaky house and a good book. A spontaneous chat happened between new friends about the joys and awkwardness of new relationships. A connection was made with someone in the wider community about how we can work together to serve the community better.. We got to taste some early fruit and it was sweet!

06.01.2022 Small businesses are Family businesses. At Good Soil we’re very much a family business. We care about the details because the space we offer is an extension of who we are as a family. The kids sometimes have to come help clean or set up or occupy themselves while I meet someone. ... They’re learning what it means to take responsibility and behave in a professional way. My three year old told me off for yawning the other day because it wasn’t professional behaviour! Small business with kids in the mix can be a challenge but also a brilliant learning opportunity. At Good Soil Coworking we understand the juggle. We love offering a space where you can get away from distractions but we’ve also got a box of Lego handy if you have an extra ‘helper’. See more

05.01.2022 Root systems How often do you see a tree (not a mangrove) growing on a beach, salt water lapping at its trunk at high tide? Its pretty rare. ... The only reason this tree thrives here is because instead of going down and spreading in all directions, its entire root system anchors it in the dune beside it. The roots grow horizontally and vertically. Counterintuitive but necessary for this particular tree. What about you and your business? Where do your roots go? Is there a source of nourishment thats a little counterintuitive or out of the box you could be tapping into? At Good Soil Coworking we aim to create Good Soil for you and your business to tap into. We do this by providing beautiful workspaces designed with productivity in mind and a synergy between the people and businesses who work here. Its not for everyone and a little bit out of the box, but for some its exactly what they need to thrive. To organise a tour and a cuppa, email me!
