25.01.2022 One sleep to Early Childhood Educators' Day! Whether it be taking flowers and plants to your centre tomorrow, or sending them a photo of a picture your child has drawn - let's all bring a little sunshine to some very special people

24.01.2022 A wonderful reminder to make sure we are taking care of ourselves as we work our way through lockdown. We hope you are all doing ok and taking some time where you can.

24.01.2022 Who doesn’t want ice cream delivered on a Monday!!!! Text your address to the number in the post below. We hope you all had a wonderful weekend. For those who are home for the next two weeks keep an eye out for the Storypark posts with the zoom codes for you to join in on story time with your educators and teachers!

24.01.2022 Thanks to our wonderful families for showing us so much love on educators day! Flowers delivered, chocolates dropped off and pictures sent via email. The emails we have received have been amazing, so many wonderful words, something we all need right now! We really are lucky to have such great families who support what we do here at the centre! Once again thank you to all our amazing educators who day in day out teach, educate, inspire and are here for the children!!

24.01.2022 Dear families, As you know we are waiting on more detailed information from the State and Federal Governments about the impact of Stage 4 restrictions on our centre. We expect to know more tomorrow but in the meantime here’s some information on our plans. What is likely to happen this week: At this stage we plan to open as usual on Thursday and Friday for eligible children Once we have more information on who will be permitted to send their children to our centre we will ...be in touch but if you believe your family is likely to be a ‘permitted worker’ your child can attend as normal Here are a few things we can be sure of: If your child is not permitted to attend for the next 6 weeks your gap fees will be waived and all direct debit arrangements paused It will be important to keep your child’s booking with us during this time as it ensures we still receive Government funding so that we can pay wages and be ready to welcome your family when the restrictions are lifted We will apply for more absences for your child if you are concerned will exceed the current 42 days of CCS allowable absences From Monday 10th August (unless we are instructed by the government to do otherwise): We will be accepting children from ‘permitted workers’ and those who need extra support at this time Our strict hygiene rules including temperature checks and foyer drop-off and pick-ups will continue Our centre team will offer remote learning for children who are not able to attend the centre with educator time being offered on-line and even more home learning resources being made available through Goodstart@Home Thanks again for your continuing support during this difficult and uncertain time. Please don’t hesitate to call or email me with any questions or concerns. Sarah Cooper Centre Director

20.01.2022 Book week dressup day!

17.01.2022 Zzzz A new baby sleep and settling program, delivered by Council’s Maternal and Child Health Nurses will soon be available to parents in Hobsons Bay and ...it’s free! The 90-minute, small group sessions will be held in person and will provide age appropriate information on infant and early childhood positive sleep patterns, as well as tips and strategies for settling your baby or toddler. The first session will commence on Friday 23 April for babies who are six to 12 months. For more information about Council’s Maternal and Child Health service, and to book, visit www.hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au/MCH

17.01.2022 With Christmas creeping up on us I saw this on Facebook today and thought I would share it as I’m sure there are lots of families out there that will need help and I’m sure there are some that want to help!!! Let the Christmas activities begin! Mum’s supporting families in need incorporated (MSFiN's) Reverse Advent Calendar! https://www.msfin.org.au/... For the month of November, grab a box and instead of receiving a treat, each day add an item to create a food hamper for a family facing tough times this I’m happy to organize drop off or pick ups if anyone would like to join me in this initiative??

17.01.2022 Over the past few days our kinder children have watched their eggs hatch. It has been really nice to listen to them all talk about ‘their’ chicks and how much they have enjoyed having them to look at. The children sit for long periods of time watching them move around, eat and sleep. Over the next week we will be taking care of the chicks in the classroom as the children hold them and feed them.

17.01.2022 Children’s week is coming up from Sunday 25th of October. HBCC have put some awesome online events and activities you can register for on their website!

12.01.2022 Just a reminder that we will require everyone over the age of 12 to wear a mask when they are entering the centre to drop off or pick up your children. (unless you have an exemption). Thanks so much for your understanding and hopefully it wont be for to long!

10.01.2022 We love our local area and community and are very lucky to have some great walking and cycling tracks within our 5km area. Hobson Bay City Council have put together a great list for locals to discover! https://www.hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au//Sport-R/Walking-cycling I love getting out and about on our hour a day a seeing some of our amazing families doing the same!!

08.01.2022 Chief Health Officer Advice: Viral gastro outbreak There has been an increase in viral gastroenteritis in childcare centres - here is what you need to know to p...rotect about protecting yourself and your family. Symptoms can take up to three days to develop and usually last one or two days, sometimes longer. Watch out for: Nausea Vomiting Diarrhoea Fever Abdominal pain Headache Muscle aches Kids with any of these symptoms should stay home while sick and for 48 hours after their symptoms have stopped. If symptoms persist - visit your GP. Gastro is highly infectious, so hygiene is particularly important. Remember: Washing hands with soap and water is the best way to prevent infection - alcohol hand sanitisers, while effective against some viruses such as coronavirus, are not effective against gastroenteritis. If someone in your household is sick, thoroughly clean and sterilise the areas where they have been sick to protect the other people in your house. Find out more about protecting your household from gastroenteritis: www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au//conditionsand/gastroenteritis

06.01.2022 Our kinder room children love The Wonky Donkey. This is a great one from YouTube as you don't need the book and they have made a very creative video to go with it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDeQT9zCvi4 Hopefully from tomorrow you will start to see some familiar faces reading some stories to you all. Happy hump day, we miss you all.

01.01.2022 Since we can't get to Phillip Island at the moment why not bring the penguins to your living room. Also the first Little Penguin chicks of the season have just hatched on Phillip Island, so an even better reason to tune in. https://www.penguins.org.au/virtual/live-penguin-tv/... Streaming Phillip Island's Little Penguins into your lounge rooms from Tuesday 25th of August... Tune in on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/PhillipIslandNatureParks/ Or on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/user/PIPenguinParade What is Live Penguin TV? Starting from Tuesday, August 25, Phillip Island Nature Parks is livestreaming the Penguin Parade across Facebook and YouTube. Everyone from around the world will be able to tune in at 6pm AEST (that’s 9am BST or 4am EST) and even ask the rangers questions in real time. What time should I tune in? The Little Penguins come ashore just after sunset 6:00pm (AEST) each night, which obviously varies month to month. Check out their Penguin Arrival Calendar to get an idea of what time to tune in from at different times of the year. If your wanting to help? You can help their rangers and researchers continue to protect these little wonders while our ecotourism attractions are closed, you might consider donating to the Penguin Foundation or Adopting a Penguin.
