24.01.2022 During the COVID-19 pandemic, looking after our mental health and wellbeing has been more important than ever. Yesterday was World Mental Health Day October 10 the message was simple: Look after your mental health, Australia. The purpose of this awareness week is to engage communities in activities that promote mental health and wellbeing and also increase understanding and reduce stigma about mental illness and how it impacts on the lives of people in our community.... Ideas of ways to engage: ( shared from world mental health website) The more we talk about it with others, the more perspective we gain and realise we are supported. Try not to bottle up your emotions, talk to a friend or someone you trust. Spend time with your children and have a laugh together. Get active. Physical activity can change your mood, Looking after your body also looks after your mind! write down something you are greatful for each day. send a letter to a friend checking on them, put a nice message in a neighbouring letterbox " wishing them happiness and hoping they are doing well-staying safe. Pick up the telephone and talk to a friend. Take things one step at a time. Stay safe everyone! Smile.....

23.01.2022 Last week we celebrated and recognised NAIDOC week alongside our First Nation people, here are some of the activities we did with the children.

23.01.2022 Getting to know a bit more about our Pre-Kinder Team Kanya was born and raised in China and came to Melbourne to study in 2011. She completed a Master's degree of Teaching in Early Childhood and graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2013. Kanya started her teaching career in a community-based children’s centre where she had the opportunities to work with children of different ages. She has been a Kindergarten Teacher for almost 6 years and spent these years building ...multiple programs and curriculum that she believe's reflects her teaching philosophy and strengths within the early childhood field. This saw a focus on creative expression, nurturing the social emotional aspect of development and promoting anti-bias in all aspects of the environment. When Kanya was seeking for more challenges and opportunities, she was lucky enough to get the chance to work at Goodstart Early learning Croydon in 2018. It has been more than two years since she started working in this amazing and supportive Early Learning Centre. Kanya loves travelling and spending time with her husband and friends. Kanya makes an effort to go back to China twice a year to visit her family. She loves what she is doing, and appreciates all the positive energy and wonderful people she comes across in her life. Carly has two children and her partner has three. They love to ride their bikes, go hiking, camping and swimming/surfing in the ocean. Carly loves to read and play board games. She has been playing volleyball for 13 years and has just started basketball. Once a week she rides her bike to work which the children are all so fascinated and ask many questions in regards to her bike and how far she has to ride. In Carly's early 20’s, she lived and worked in London for two years, met her Scottish relatives and backpacked around Europe and Scandinavia. Most of her working life has been in bookshops. When she was Assistant Manager at The ABC Shop, she got to meet Jimmy Giggle! Carly also got to perform as Spot alongside the real Bananas in Pyjamas. When her children were at Kindergarten, parents were asked to volunteer once a term as helpers. Quickly, she began volunteering once a fortnight and realised she loved it! Carly enrolled in the Certificate III in Early Childhood Development. The children make Carly laugh every day and she feels extremely lucky that she gets to spend time with them, watching them grow and learn. Carly enjoys helping the children to appreciate the natural world and encourage their understanding of our environment. When they find bugs, they look closely, admire them and even pat the bees if they sit still long enough.
