25.01.2022 Inspired by the beautiful spring season some of the children did a flower collage. The children used their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination to pinch the coloured sand, confetti, glitter and sequins to place on their flowers. These experiences are aimed at building muscle strength in fingers and hand that will later be used for holding pencils and writing.

25.01.2022 Today a small group of children got to come out to our front gated area and do some gardening with Bec and Shakiba. Thank you so much to Elyse Halsey - Century 21 Advance Realty for the amazing donation of the garden bed, soil and plants we cant wait to watch them grow!

23.01.2022 Did you know we're a not for profit enterprise? Have you ever wondered how your fees are distributed? Our Vision is for Australia’s children to have the best possible start in life. ... Our Purpose is to ensure children have the learning, development and wellbeing outcomes they need for school and life. Goodstart was founded on the vision of giving Australia’s children the best possible start in life through providing access to high quality early learning and care. We understand the cost of early learning and care is significant for families. We operate with strong business discipline, continually balancing our priorities of keeping early learning and care affordable for families while making sure we provide the best possible learning environments for our children. COVID has significantly impacted early learning providers and Goodstart is no exception. Our revenue this year has been spent keeping our centres open, safe and operational and our Goodstarters, families and children supported and learning during these unprecedented times.

23.01.2022 A massive Thank you to all of our families for such an incredible year! We wish you all the happiest festive season and we hope you stay safe and enjoy your family time! To our amazing team of educators we have had some changes and challenging times this year but you have all committed to the best possible outcomes for our children, families and community. We hope you all enjoy some well earned rest and relaxation and can't wait to see what 2021 brings for Goodstart East Bunbury- its going to be the best year yet! From us to you we Thank You x Jess, Tara and Bec

20.01.2022 Young children sometimes express their emotions or try to meet their needs by using behaviours that others can find challenging. That’s why we’ve developed The Family Behaviour Support Kit to support parents at home in helping their children to understand these big emotions and teaching them how to communicate their needs in an effective way. The Family Behaviour Support Kit includes:... - A number of useful printed charts and tools focused on emotions, routines and calming down strategies. - Detailed guide to step parents through how to use each resource with their child. - Picture cards and a first and then chart to show visually what a child should do first and then (e.g. First we go to the toilet, then we wash our hands. First, we make our bed, then we go and play). This resource is particularly useful in supporting parents to get their children to do those ‘tricky’ or ‘not fun’ tasks! Take a look at this video of Goodstart Ingle Farm Centre Director Kyla Davidson explaining what’s in the kit and how families can get the most out of it. https://youtu.be/uQDvOy9_W4c

18.01.2022 There are currently a number of gastroenteritis (gastro) cases in the South West which have been found to be caused by Norovirus. Norovirus is highly contagious... and is spread through close contact with people who are infected or through contaminated food, water or surfaces. It is important anyone who is unwell should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. It is important you wait for 48 hours after symptoms cease before going back to work or school. Symptoms of gastro include: diarrhoea nausea and vomiting headache, muscle aches, or joint aches fever or chills sweating or clammy skin abdominal cramps and pain loss of appetite You can reduce your risk of getting gastro by doing the following: Wash your hands often, especially after using the bathroom and before food preparation. Clean surfaces often. Don’t share kitchen utensils, plates, or towels if someone in your house is sick. Don’t eat raw or undercooked food. Wash fruit and vegetables thoroughly. Make sure you keep well hydrated and see your doctor if the symptoms don’t resolve or if you are concerned. The WA Country Health Service South West is always here to help should you require any emergency medical treatment or public health advice. For further information please contact Health Direct on 1800 022 222 or visit https://healthywa.wa.gov.au/Articles/N_R/Norovirus

18.01.2022 Did you smell burnt toast?! This morning we had a small service interruption where the fire alarm sounded due to an educator burning toast for breakfast ;) Here at Goodstart we are huge on children's safety and because of this we followed it up by calling our local Fire Brigade who came and checked out the centre to ensure we were completely safe! A huge thank you to Bunbury Fire Station for coming to our centre and having a chat with the children too!

16.01.2022 With 80% of a child’s brain developing before they turn 5, every learning experience is valuable. And it’s fun too! We’re open all through December & January, except public holidays.

16.01.2022 Eating is the perfect time for learning and exploring. During afternoon tea, we often set up a self help station, so the children can get their own cutlery and plates, wipe their hands and put their dishes away. The children were so proud doing each stage. It's a great way to help young children build independance while developing positive, long-term healthy eating habits.
