25.01.2022 Goodstart Hendra educators and children do an Acknowledgement of Country every morning showing our respect to Elders past and present, as we acknowledge the Turrbal people as the traditional owners of the land on which we learn and play.

24.01.2022 During science week the Kindergarten children experimented with ice and salt. They froze some animals and placed them in the trough to find out how salt melts the ice? The children learnt that the salt lowers the freezing point of water. The ice then starts to melt making liquid water.

It is observed on July 30 each year. The UN has a special day to promote the concept of friendships across diverse backgrounds and cultures.

22.01.2022 Today Miss Kellie invited a small group to join in on a shared aboriginal art experience. First we had group time where we spoke about the history of the didgeridoo, how they are made, what they are used for and the meaning behind some of their artwork. The children were shown pictures and a short video so they could hear the sound the didgeridoo makes and learn more about how they are made. We then had a go at creating our own didgeridoo using leaves, brushes and cotton tips as our source of painting. The children loved working together to share their thoughts and ideas and the end result was beautiful.

22.01.2022 Our centre was a sea of red today as we showed our support for Day for Daniel. We were proud to raise over $250 to go to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation and the amazing programs they run.

Artist: Kiya Watt Story: Wagual (Rainbow Serpent) We believed the Wagual rainbow serpent created the lands and oceans by moving across the world. He was a huge spiritual being with rainbow skin. When he shed his rainbow skin he filled the lands with all the colours we see today. ... NAIDOC week is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and a chance to acknowledge their history, culture and achievements. This years theme is Always was, Always will be.

These have been such challenging times which have created so much worry and additional pressure on top of working and parenting, which are hard enough. 05.01.2022 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Childrens Day is held every year on August 4. Our Childrens Day 2020 theme: We are the Elders of tomorrow, hear our voice honours our Elders custodians of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander traditional knowledge, passed down to our children through stories and cultural practice. Today the Senior Toddlers group discussed aboriginal culture, with a focus on Budj Bim, a volcano that formed thousands of years ago. Scientis...ts say this taletold by the Aboriginal Gunditjmara people of the areamay have some basis in fact. About 37,000 years ago, Budj Bim and another nearby volcano formed through a rapid series of eruptions, new evidence reveals, suggesting the legend may be the oldest story still being told today. After our discussions, the Senior Toddlers group followed up by creating their very own volcano in the sandpit. The children helped to form the base of their volcano using wet sand. We then made a hole down the centre of it where we added some bicarb soda. Using food colour and vinegar, we then combined the two by pouring it inside the hole, creating a reaction and an overflow of lava

02.01.2022 Our team meeting for this month was physically held at our service this evening. It was lovely to be able to come together as a team to reconnect & collaboratively reflect. It was also a fantastic opportunity to recognise the hard work that Miss Binita, Miss Reshmi & Miss Kellie have done by completing their Diploma. Congratulations

01.01.2022 The children were lucky to have one of our friends Mums visit our Kindergarten room to share with us their cultural background. The children listened to a Japanese story, songs, numbers and shapes. We learnt that Konichiwa means Hello in Japanese language.
