15.01.2022 Yesterday our Toddler 1 children participated in a tripod painting activity, they enjoyed taking turns in swinging the bottle and splattering the paint across the paper. We can't wait for it to dry to display in our centre!

15.01.2022 Yesterday we were privileged to have Major Dean Bannan from the Australian Army, come to our centre to explain to our Kinder children all about Anzac Day. Major Bannan read the children a story called ‘Lest We Forget’ which commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli Campaign and ANZAC soldiers during WWI. After our story Major Bannan explained to the children the importance of remembering our past and present heroes by standing at attention during the Last Post. We p...layed the last post and the children stood with Major Bannan and saluted like they would if they were at a memorial service. We then had the chance to practice marching like soldiers before Major Bannan let the children try on his slouch hat, explaining the significance of the rising sun emblem. At Goodstart Mill Park we would like to pay our respects to our past and present service personnel for their service and sacrifices made for our Country today. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them

13.01.2022 This week at Goodstart we are celebrating Thank You week, we will be thanking all of our hard working Educators who have put in an amazing effort over the past few months during these tough times. We understand everyone has gone over & beyond and would like to recognize their commitments to the Early Learning Sector, we have placed a board in our main foyer where children and families can write their thank you and appreciation notes We will also be collecting bread tags, we will be donating these to Aussie bread tags for wheelchairs. We are offering contactless drop off if you would like to donate any of these, please place them in a bag in our mailbox out the front of the centre.

13.01.2022 Father's Day- Cake in a cup Our Kinder children had a cooking experience on Tuesday with our centre cook Sarah through an online conference call, we made a cake in a bag for the children. The children focused on measuring and counting out the exact amounts of tablespoons and teaspoons in what the children needed of their ingredients, we then made a couple of the cakes in paper cups with the children for them to try. The children were able to use their counting skills and also show their knowledge in measurements. The children enjoyed this activity and we hope they enjoy making them with their dad and special people at home

13.01.2022 Hi families, As you are aware the Victorian Government has announced that Melbourne is now in Stage 4 restrictions with stronger rules to limit the movement of people and limit the spread of this virus. As far as we are aware Childcare Centres will remain open for permitted workers and vulnerable children from Thursday.... We will have more information as it comes and will update families through social media and Storypark. Thank you for your patience and co- operation during these difficult times.

09.01.2022 Hi Goodstart families! As you know the Government announced today that the 'free childcare' package will expire on 12 July and that the CCS system will return f...rom 13 July, along with new transition measures (up until October) to support the sector and parents as they move back to the subsidy. This announcement is a little bit complex so we are working hard to understand what this means for our families and for Goodstart. We will provide an update to our centres and our families later today and over the coming days as we learn more. #5weekstogo! See more

06.01.2022 We would like to thank Kirsty who is a parent at our centre, she has donated this beautiful art piece that we have displayed in our foyer. The Wominjeka sign represents the flow of a river which means new life moving forward (because there is a constant flow of children coming through) and multi directional tracks. Free style finger painting technique... Acrylic paint, activator and adhesive lacquer were used to create this piece. A community project, as part of the centres RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan) working group. Kirsty is an Aboriginal Descendant

04.01.2022 Did you know we are offering Zoom lessons at home? Our enrolled families that are not attending the centre during Victoria's stage 4 lock down get the chance to interact with their Educators and participate in reading, cooking and other activities from the comfort of their home. We believe it is beneficial for children and Educators to continue that interaction and keep that connection even whilst not at the centre and the results have been magnificent.... Contact us on 03 9437 7778 today if you would like to enquire.

03.01.2022 Today our Toddler 1 Children enjoyed a wonderful Community Excursion to our local police station. The children were able to explore their world by seeing and hearing all the things around us. The Toddler Children were lucky enough to meet some of our local Police Officers and explore the inside of a police car, we even had the lights & sirens on. Getting out in our Community helps children create learning links with their wider world and begin to create a sense of belonging to multiple communities and groups.

03.01.2022 Jobkeeper payments ended on March 28 and we know this may have an impact on family budgets.
