25.01.2022 It’s raining it’s pouring Today some of the children were fascinated by the rain, they all stood at the window to watch the rain pour. We wanted to extend their fascination and allow them to express their interpretations through creativity by painting. We stuck our paper to the window, had a plate of paint and did some finger painting of what they could see happening outside the window. As we watched them paint, we asked them what they were painting, a few said RAIN in a big loud voice and some said look, my rain.

22.01.2022 From our family partnerships, we learnt that so many of our children go to Bunnings and have been involved in DIY workshops. We decided to incorporate that information into a field trip! We got to build our very own trucks and explore the garden area. Thank you to Julie from Bunnings in Clarkson who showed us a memorable time.

16.01.2022 Water play advantages Making the most of Australias beautiful sunny mornings in Nursery! Water play provides hours of rich and valuable experiences to develop childrens creativity and imagination. By exploring water and sand, it develops math and science concepts, sensory play, cognitive growth, social interaction and triggers a childs inclination for and ability in competing more complex learning tasks. This is essential and healthy for child development!

14.01.2022 To continue supporting our journey with KER, Family Connections & Harmony day, we created a diverse inclusive space that will always be a growing safe space for our children. To introduce the environment to the curious children, we sat down together and shared what we could see and what it means to us. They told me who is special to them in their lives and we looked in the mirror to also recognise & understand our own unique features. The children were invited to draw their special people and themselves to add into the environment as a resource they could engage in at any time they felt they needed to. We extended the area to include a respectful book corner to extend on acceptance, inclusion & respectful relationships.

14.01.2022 Reading lasts a lifetime! Help us, whats your childs favourite book we should read? Children are born ready to learn. Reading stories can help your child get to know sounds, words, language & develop early literacy skills. @BrightTomorrowsStartToday... A resource: https://hippyaustralia.bsl.org.au/about/

13.01.2022 Animated storytelling session with one of our Parents! Kate, who is one of our Goodstart parents had the children involved in an animated storytelling session about weather (and pretended to jump in puddles) and chocolate. Kate then followed up with a chocolate play dough experience and the children were so keen to engage in the provocation. As the conversations ensued, the children made use of their senses to smell, see, feel, and (almost!) taste the dough. Thank you Kate! It was indeed a wonderful way to have parents involved in our classroom provocations and should any parent like to volunteer their help, we would be more than happy to have you come in :)

11.01.2022 When I was young... Share with us your photo/video of a moment back in time together. The first five years last a lifetime. Did you know... That 90% of brain growth occurs by the age of five? @BrightTomorrowsStartToday... A resource: https://raisingchildren.net.au/

10.01.2022 Language and Literacy explorations Communication and emergence literacy interests were observed in Kindy as the children engaged in learning experiences which were intentionally set up to facilitate the way in which they view literacy in the environment around them. As they settled in, many sounding letters, discussion about stories relating to feelings, and sharing of thoughts and ideas during play was encouraged. These provocations set the standard for the children's keen curiosity skills to take over and discover the importance of being exposed to literacy in a variety of forms.
