While NT Health has undertaken aerial spray...ing of salt marsh mosquito breeding sites in wetlands surrounding Darwin, mosquitoes from outside the control area will make their way into Darwin, Palmerston and the rural areas. As salt marsh mosquitoes can transmit Ross River Virus, people should take the following precautions to avoid being bitten: - avoid coastal swamps where this mosquito breeds - wear light-coloured clothing with long sleeves - use mosquito repellent containing DEET, picaridin or PMD (extract of lemon eucalyptus) - clear all water holding containers in backyards. As you know the Government announced today that the 'free childcare' package will expire on 12 July and that the CCS system will return f...rom 13 July, along with new transition measures (up until October) to support the sector and parents as they move back to the subsidy. This announcement is a little bit complex so we are working hard to understand what this means for our families and for Goodstart. Over the past few months people, ...families and communities have been tried and tested in the most extraordinary ways. We just wanted to reassure you that our centre is open and we will continue to provide an essential service to our children and families. Goodstart is well prepared and has been planning around COVID-19 since early January.... Our teams are highly trained in dealing with infectious diseases and we have Public Health approved infection control processes. We use hospital-grade cleaning products and have rigorous hygiene practices and protocols in place. It is important to remember that maintaining your child’s daily routines and positive relationships can be beneficial during uncertain and stressful times such as these. Our priorities are ensuring the ongoing safety, health and wellbeing of everyone in our Goodstart family and continuing to provide the highest standard of early learning and care in our 665 centres across Australia for the families that rely on us each day.
