23.01.2022 We would like to say a big Congratulations to Savita for achieving 10 years here at Goodstart Newtown. Savita has a heart of gold and will give 110% as an Educator. This year has been a really tough year however Savita is always kind, caring and very thoughtful to others. She is an amazing piece to our Goodstart Family and we look forward to many more years.

23.01.2022 We would like to introduce our beautiful girls. The 4 year old kindergarten room have had the opportunity to welcome these gorgeous babies into the room. After exploring love our pet day project we were able to determine what we need to look after our new furry friends. First things, first! Choosing names. Please welcome Maggie Russel and Marble Echuca (named by the children).... Benefits of pets include: Observing, interacting with and learning to care for an animal can be a valuable part of a child’s education and care experience, enriching their learning. See more

21.01.2022 We have just recently reflected and added to our Quality Improvement plan about exploring deeper in; educating children the importance of nature, and looking after it. Sir David Attenborough once said People must feel that the natural world is important and valuable and beautiful and wonderful and an amazement and a pleasure. We have been very busy working on this in our outdoor learning environments. And have welcomed birds, bees, butterflies, dragonflies, bugs and much more We would like to thank Valley road nursery for helping us reach our vision. #shoplocal #doingourpart #plantingtrees #reuse #davidattenborough

20.01.2022 Dear families I hope you like our new poster! We’re sharing it with every family at our centre today as part of a reminder to ourselves that while we’ve been working to keep everyone safe from COVID-19 for nearly nine months now we can’t afford to let our guard down. We’re using this poster to take a moment each day to check we’re still doing all the simple things we need to do as part of the local community to keep ourselves and our friends and family safe and well. If you...r child isn’t feeling well, please keep them home and support us to reduce the spread of illness in our centre. Thanks again for helping keep everyone at Goodstart Newtown by following this simple guide because COVID-19 is still a thing! See more

20.01.2022 Footy day was super fun! Team colours, face paint, games and pies! Best way to start our long weekend. We hope everyone enjoys their day off tomorrow.

20.01.2022 Book week 2020 We were overwhelmed with joy, seeing everyone help celebrate book week. There was many activities all throughout the learning environments. Children had the opportunity to be read too, to share their story book, to learn about books, looked deeper into phonics, explored creating bookmarks, and told stories through play and acting/drama. We are looking forward to the rest of the week.

17.01.2022 We have the kinder tick

15.01.2022 Goodstart Newtown encourages families to ‘think outside the box’ for children’s birthdays as we teach the children that ‘cake and sweets’ are sometimes foods and we celebrate birthdays quite often at the centre. Thank you to Claire and Alan for coming up with this watermelon cake creation to celebrate Leopold’s 4th birthday! You have set the bar very high now! Happy Birthday!!

13.01.2022 Halloween dress up Day We are celebrating Halloween tomorrow We are looking forward to seeing everyone’s spooky outfit. We will have dress ups in the classrooms for everyone to have the opportunity to participate.

13.01.2022 Research shows that play is what matters most to children in their daily lives in early childhood centres. From the moment your child steps into one of our centres they are learning, and play is their anchor for learning. As well as being enjoyable and fun, it’s how children organise and make sense of the world around them. Play offers your child planned and spontaneous opportunities to practice emerging skills. It also supports their language, social and emotional wellbeing... and thinking abilities. #GoodstartCommunity #GoodstartEarlyLearning https://www.goodstart.org.au//how-do-children-learn-throug

13.01.2022 Happy Halloween All the children across the centre had a lovely week learning about Halloween and joined in lots of Halloween activities. We hope you all have a lovely weekend.

13.01.2022 ‘Thumper’ has settled into nursery life nicely. The children are enjoying having thumper apart of their learning environment.

10.01.2022 Today marks the first day of NAIDOC week 2020. Our centre sits proudly on Wathaurong land & we would like to acknowledge the Wathaurong people as the traditional custodians of the land on which we play & learn. Our vision at Goodstart Newtown is ‘To create and promote an environment in which the stories, cultures, traditions, perspectives, histories and knowledge of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are embraced, respectfully embedded and celebrated all year... round.’ #alwayswas #alwayswillbe #naidocweek

09.01.2022 Book week 2020 Day two Reading books aloud to children stimulates their imagination and expands their understanding of the world. It helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word. Books are so precious and a beautiful source of new information and wonder to present to a child.

09.01.2022 Educators of the month: This month we surveyed the families as our critical reflection topic was the Reconciliation Action Plan - families were asked to vote for educator of the month in relation to our ‘RAP’. It was very successful with 14 different educators being nominated. But there were two winners:... Heidi - our admin/everything else! She always has a smile, and there is no job too big. She is amazing with the families, children and is honestly the heart of Goodstart Newtown. Heidi helped with the administration for our RAP with educators participating in a training module called Arilla - which went into depth about the Indigenous culture. Mel - EL/Kindergarten teacher Melanie embedded the RAP within our program creating the topic to help educators dig deep and get a better understanding of Goodstart Newtown’s RAP. Mel used her own time to visit Narana and create meantiful experiences for the children. Well done to both. Very deserving winners!

09.01.2022 On Friday we celebrated teacher day.. and what a teacher we have!! Melanie’s not only one of the best teachers in the region, she is also a mentor to each and every Educator in the centre. She puts everybody else’s needs before her own and her passion for early childhood is evident across the whole centre. There is nobody more deserving than you Mel! Happy Teachers day 2020!

08.01.2022 It’s Harry Potter day here at Goodstart Newtown today ... this little mandrake screamed with excitement!

05.01.2022 This is Chloe; Chloe has been an Educator at Goodstart Newtown for over 2 years. In those two years Chloe has developed amazing relationships with children, educators and families. Last week Chloe completed her Batchelor of Early Childhood Education. We are so proud of her and she will be joining Mel- teaching the 4 year old kindergarten in 2021. Chloe is our third Bachelor trained teacher at the centre. Goodstart Newtown strives for the highest quality for the best outcomes for the children.

05.01.2022 Today our rooms explored Aboriginal Dreamtime stories and used these stories to implement Indigenous art using natural materials. Our 3YO kinder 2 room was lucky enough to be the first room to explore ochre, which was very kindly donated to us from Billy O’Toole from Wathaurong Aboriginal Co Op. The children mixed the different coloured ochre with some water and then practised some Indigenous symbol markings. The children were so engaged during this experience and asked many important questions that sparked important conversations. The other rooms will have a chance to do this in the coming days! #NAIDOC2020 #alwayswasalwayswillbe

02.01.2022 Goodstart Newtown offers a high quality play based program encouraging different areas of development.
