22.01.2022 National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The dates for NRW remain the same each year - 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.... Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Today, 26 May, is also National Sorry Day. It gives people the opportunity to come together and share the steps towards healing for the Stolen Generations, their families, and communities. "We apologise for the laws and policies of successive Parliaments and governments that have inflicted profound grief, suffering, and loss on these our fellow Australians... For the pain, suffering and hurt of these Stolen Generations, their descendants and for their families left behind, we say sorry." Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, 13 February, 2013. We invite you to join in the learning about National Reconciliation Week at home through Goodstart@Home which is free for Goodstart families. Listen and learn from the stories and activities on the site. Take a moment to explore how you can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia: athome.goodstart.org.au

19.01.2022 Dear families We’re sharing this poster with every family at our centre today as part of a reminder to ourselves that while we’ve been working to keep everyone safe from COVID-19 for nearly nine months now we can’t afford to let our guard down. We’re using this poster to take a moment each day to check we’re still doing all the simple things we need to do as part of the local community to keep ourselves and our friends and family safe and well. If your child isn’t feeling well, please keep them home and support us to reduce the spread of illness in our centre. Thanks again for helping keep everyone at Goodstart Onkaparinga Rise safe by following this simple guide because COVID-19 is still a thing.

17.01.2022 Family by Family is a network of Families helping other families have better lives. Family by Family links families together to offer support for families to reach goals, that helps them to make the changes they want to make. Families link together for 10-30 weeks and spend 3 hrs per week working towards that change. Often goals are around routines, holding boundaries and being consistent with these, getting along better as a family, having places to go outside the house and ...having positive people in their lives to go places with. We believe that all families have the capacity to change and want choice around what is best for their family. Families build relationships of trust and have the ability to go places and do things that a worker cannot. Family by Family trains families so that they have the skills, to support other families. Currently Family by Family are looking for families have children under 18 yrs living in their home, are having more ups then downs in life currently, would have 5 hours to support another family and drive so they can get to see the family they would be supporting. If this sounds like your family and you want to build skills to help with employment later down the track while giving back to your community. If this sounds like something you would like to learn more about, then why not contact Leanne 0432043537 or Emma 0478109701 for an informal chat and find out more. Family by Family will be visiting our centre for families to chat to, on Thursday the 18th of February between 3:30pm and 5:30pm.

16.01.2022 This is an image weve come across that simply explains the latest advice from the Prime Minister around Australias response to COVID-19. We just wanted to reassure you that our centre is open and we will continue to provide an essential service to our children and families. Goodstart is well prepared and has been planning around COVID-19 since early January.... Our teams are highly trained in dealing with infectious diseases and we have Public Health approved infection control processes. We use hospital-grade cleaning products and have rigorous hygiene practices and protocols in place. It is important to remember that maintaining your childs daily routines and positive relationships can be beneficial during uncertain and stressful times such as these. Our priorities are ensuring the ongoing safety, health and wellbeing of everyone in our Goodstart family and continuing to provide the highest standard of early learning and care in our 665 centres across Australia for the families that rely on us each day.

At Goodstart the Kindergarten program is evidence based and is specifically designed for children aged 3-5 years. The curriculum is based on the Early Years Learning Framework, which is delivered by degree-qualified Early Childhood Teachers. 01.01.2022 Its Dental Hygiene Week this week (3 9 August), so weve created some fun activities you can do with your toddlers to encourage them to brush their teeth on our Goodstart@Home website. These activities are easy to do and a great way to support the development and understanding of dental hygiene and teeth brushing techniques. This years Dental Hygiene Week theme is all about sugar and How much sugar is hiding is your trolley? Wed like to encourage families to be mindful... of hidden sugars in food. Making healthy choices at the supermarket extends to making similar smart food and drink choices at home. Early childhood tooth decay can affect your childs health and cause pain, making it hard for your child to sleep, eat or speak. It can also affect your childs ability to concentrate and learn. Children who develop dental decay at an early age are more likely to suffer from it throughout childhood. To find out more about Dental Health Week visit the ADAs Your Dental Health website: https://www.ada.org.au/tips

01.01.2022 Goodstart are continuing to follow advice from State and Federal Governments in managing their response in centres to the COVID-19 pandemic. We remain open and would like to assure families and community members that we have stringent health and safety policies in place that include infection control procedures, cleanliness of our facilities, maintaining regular toy cleaning and sanitising, and how to best support unwell children. Remember to always wash your hands and follow appropriate health advice when unwell.
