23.01.2022 Hi, I am Rebecca (or Bec for short) and I am so excited to be working with the amazing team at Goodstart Somerville. My husband, Step son and myself have recently returned to Western Australia after six months in very rural South Australia for my husbands work (I married an Agricultural Mechanic instead of the Farmer during my first teaching placement) and we are now looking to call Kalgoorlie-Boulder home. I grew up in country southern W.A and have called many towns across ...W.A home since graduating University. A Mine change saw us leave the farming regions behind and take a road trip way up north to Wickham which led to a year long stay as their Early Childhood Teacher in 2018-2019 so I am no stranger to red dirt, open spaces and the stars at night. I believe every Child is unique; with their own special set of abilities, family and approach to life. For me, children express their understanding and knowledge in numerous ways and it makes my heart sing with every success and bump in their learning journey that I am privileged to share with them. If you can not find me sitting on a cushion reading a book with the Children in Kindy then look for the messiest, loudest, paint, sand or mud filled activity and guaranteed you will find me covered in it head to toe enjoying myself. 19.01.2022 Yesterday when the children ventured out into the yard there was a new resource hanging on the fence waiting for them. The Wall Of Sound is an Educator made resource we have added to the environment. It consists of a pallet with up-cycled pots, pans and other kitchen crockery attached to it. Using wooden sticks the children have the opportunity to make music. ... The children have loved engaging with this new resource and it has already offered us many facets of learning. We have been able to discuss opposites, such as hitting hard or soft, hitting loudly or quietly and fast or slow. We were also able to listen and hear the different sounds made when we hit the metal items or the wooden pallet, and when we held the stick firmly or loosely. We have also been able to engage in some numeracy and literacy, counting the number of items attached to the pallet, recognising the letters and the colours of the letters. It has also offered us the opportunity to practice our turn taking skills, while waiting patiently for a turn.

Goldfields Early Years Strategy Group are hoping to have this survey shared within the Goldfields Esperance Region to gather what services dads/ fathers/ male role models feel they need in parenting.... The information will allow them to ensure that we are spending funds on specific activities, events, and workshops that they feel are beneficial to them without community making assumptions. Can you please take the time to share this survey with members of our community so we can gather relevant feedback to allocating Parenting funds in the right area. Goldfields Early Years Strategy Group initially want to hear the voices of fathers, stepfathers, uncles, grandparents, and any male role models that have relationships with children pre-birth to 18 years. My history with Childcare started back in Brazil where I used to work as volunteer at the church looking after the children. When I came to Australia in 2015 I decided that I wanted to study Early Childhood Education and Ive been working in this industry ever since. Im extremely passionate for children and I am glad to say that I have the privilege to work doing something that I love. 13.01.2022 Hi Families The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is excited to present the Pop-Up Project! These are activities for children aged 0-12 and they will be held at various sites around Kalgoorlie-Boulder during April and May and they are all FREE (although a gold coin donation is required at Oasis). The Pop-Up Project kicks off on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th April at Lord Forrest Precinct with go-karts, camel rides, circus skills training, arts and crafts and a whole lot more. Then on... Sunday 11th April kids can visit the Golf Course to putt and drive like a pro (and they get a free goodie bag) or head down to the Oasis for inflatables and waterslides (Oasis requires a gold coin donation on entry). The event continues on 16 18 April and again on 1 2 May with a program full of activities that kids will love. You can find the full program of events and the activity map at www.ckb.wa.gov.au/popupproject Why not take the family and have some fun or even meet up with friends and enjoy some free activities for the children.

11.01.2022 Containers for Change WA W.A Container Deposit scheme called CONTAINERS FOR CHANGE gives 10 cents for certain cans, bottles, and containers. (must have a 10-cent refund mark) As part of our environmental learning at Goodstart Early Learning Somerville, a special bin for 10 cent recyclables has been created. We invite families to participate with their children if you can! The drop off bin is located inside the foyer; this is where the children can put their recyclables brou...ght from home. When we have a carload, we will cash them in at the depot. Money raised will be donated to a local charity. This is a fun way for the children to begin to understand the concept of recycling, ways to care for their environment, and to include their community. We look forward to seeing the children’s excited faces as they bring their recyclables to day care and use the bin. *ELIGIBLE CONTAINERS Most aluminum, glass, plastic, steel and liquid paperboard drink containers between 150ml and 3L are eligible for a refund. Eligible containers must display the refund mark (e.g. 10c refund at collection depots/points in participating State/Territory of purchase)

In my personal life, I am the happiest mum ever of two young children and take great pride in nurturing their development and celebrating their achievements. I have a background in teaching, but I decided to use my life experience with my own children and made a career change into the Early Childhood setting and completed Cert 3 and Diploma in Early Childhood Educa...tion and Care. Child Protection Week focuses child protection being everyone’s business and that as adults, we have a responsibility to ensure children’s safety and wellbeing. We would just like to say a huge thank you to Aurizon for partnering with us to create these beautiful garden beds - for supplying all materials and construction of the boxes. Thank you to Goldfields Little Loads & Gardens and Bunnings Warehouse Australia for your generous donations, as well as Adaptalift Group and DCN Transport for making this heavy operation of moving all these sleepers a lot easier with the help... of a forklift. Thank you also to Goldfields Tattersalls Club and City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder for supplying cooking equipment for our yummy bbq breakfast and everyone who helped prepare and cook! Lastly, thank you to all the Centre Staff for lending your time and muscles to prep the garden beds and our amazing families for sowing our first lot of plants! Today was an awesome day! We are so excited to see the area grow into a beautiful, well established Community Garden. Thank you!
