25.01.2022 Over the past few weeks, Denise has been using sorting, sequencing and matching games. The children have been working in small groups as they strengthen skills used in our STEM programs. The skills we have been working towards are: turn taking and self-regulation; colour and number recognition; storytelling and sequencing; and, matching and sorting. The activities are assisting the children with school readiness learning and are lots of fun.

25.01.2022 Risky play allows children to push themselves to the limits of their capabilities and allows them space to progress. It also allows children to feel in control of their actions, learning and play. Children also learn boundaries in a safe, secure environment where they can be supported directly or indirectly by educators. - Photos are of Preschool 1 & 2 children using risky play and engineering skills to safety design a cubby house.

23.01.2022 This week we welcomed some of our new School Readiness children into Preschool 2. The children have enjoyed building relationships with their new educators and some of their elder peers as they get to know their indoor and outdoor environment.

22.01.2022 Book week is an important week of celebrating literature, imagination and knowledge, expanding children's language skills and vocabulary all through reading BOOKS! Today the children shared their favourite stories with us and dressed up for the occasion.

16.01.2022 Over the last couple of months we have been watching the plants grow especially our tomato plants. Some of us have excitedly picked some green tomatoes calling them apples and passing them to our educators. Many educators thought we may not get any ripe tomatoes but this morning we found a ripe one. We excitedly picked it and then headed inside to give it to our cook Steph who kindly made tomato sandwiches for us so that we could try it. We thought it was extra yummy and will watch and wait for more tomatoes to ripen.

07.01.2022 Yaama Maliyaa- Welcome to Kamilaroi land. This week we payed our respects and acknowledge NAIDOC WEEK 2020 by coming together in a yarn circle for our Acknowledgement to Country. We listened to karmilaroi music by some very talented local artists and learnt about didgeridoos and tapping sticks. We engaged in creating our hand prints onto paper and participated in story time through our collection of cultural literature. Our Acknowledgement to Country ... Here is the land and here is the sky, Here are my friends and here am I, We thank the Kamilaroi people for the land on which we learn and play, Hands up hands down, We're on Kamilaroi ground.
