25.01.2022 This Sunday Kale McBain plays his 200th Senior Club against Kensington. Kale and his brother Brodie began playing baseball in Mildura and after coming down to Adelaide found themselves at home at the Indians. Kale brought with him a general passion for baseball and turned this into a huge passion for the Indians. As a board member as President (3 years) as well as Facilities (4 years) both very big roles in our club.... Along with spending many years coaching at Little League along with Umpiring whenever needed. Kale is a true club man who helps out around the club whenever needed and can be seen working at the club in the morning and then playing a game in the afternoon. Kale and his wife Kylie, have dedicated many valuable years to the Goodwood Baseball Club. Winning a Division 3 Premiership in 2010/2011. Kale is currently a key player in Division 2, and provides a key role model to the younger players in the team. He has proven to be a strong defensive player mainly as a Catcher/3B and as a hitter hits the ball very hard as well as having an outstanding knowledge of the game. This milestone caps off a a big season personally for Kale with him and Kylie enjoying the arrival of their first son Cooper. Kale has also played 111 games for Saints Baseball Club in Mildura and made his Senior Debut in 2002. Congratulations Kale on reaching this milestone - thank you for the broad contribution you have given the club and we look forward to more over coming seasons. 05.01.2022 Some photos from yesterday’s big win in div 1 30-1. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS a good team effort, two players stood out in Goodwood’s shellacking of Northern Districts, to the tune of 30-1. Riley Moore and Stefan Welch had games they will not forget for a long time. Moore had six hits, a home run and eight RBIs, while Welch collected five hits, three for dingers, and seven RBIs.... After the second inning, with the Indians leading 12-0, most interest seemed to be on Welch, who had belted a long three-run home run in the opening frame and a solo shot in the second. Sure enough, Welch did not disappoint when he deposited a third dinger in the third dig, while excitement grew for his fourth at bat in the fourth could he be the first A grade baseballer in South Australia to belt four consecutive home runs? He wouldn’t die wondering, as he fouled off four, two-strike pitches before striking out. He still had further chances, but ‘only’ hit two RBI singles, and was walked intentionally. Moore kind of ‘sneaked up’ with his batting, although he had two-run singles in the first and fifth frames, with his three-run dinger in the seventh the highlight. In just about any other game, three hits would have grabbed plenty of attention, but Josh Cakebread (also three RBIs), Jeremy Cresswell (four RBIs) and Matt Hutchings had to settle for second billing. From the mound, Darren Fidge deserved the victory but was pulled after four innings (for one hit and three strikeouts), with Tom Fiebig collecting the win for his three frames (three hits and two K2s).
