24.01.2022 Who would have thought that after starting Acro only 2 years ago it would be our most popular class So what do we have coming in 2021...? ADVANCED TUMBLING... PROGRAM Our Advanced Tumbling Program offers further development to students who have shown a high level of skill in their weekly acro classes. The class is partly subsidized for students and focuses on advancing students to high level tumbling skills. Our Advanced Tumbling Program is taught by Miss Ashley, who is a qualified gymnastics coach and has judged many national gymnastics competitions. Ashley also attended the International Academy of Physical Education in Denmark to study Tumbling and Coaching and brings with her a world of knowledge for all of our Tumbling students. So, who’s ready to learn some flips?
24.01.2022 Googong's water recycling plant is operational from today! Congrats to all involved - especially the Googong Project Team (past and present) and our partners at Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council. The plant is part of an $133 million integrated water recycling system which was funded, designed and built by Googong’s developers Peet and Mirvac and is owned and managed by Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council. The system will reduce potable water usage by 60% and recycle more than half the township’s wastewater.
23.01.2022 Always Was, Always Will Be Munnagai Woggabaliri, in the Aboriginal language of the Ngunawal people, means come play. This name was chosen for the Montgomery Rise playground on Sunset Place as a welcoming invitation to people to gather and play together. There were many traditional recreational pastimes believed to have been played at Aboriginal gatherings and celebrations. An example of one of these earlier games was Marngrook, a football game which featured punt kicking and... catching a stuffed possum skin ball. It was commented that players exhibited outstanding skills, such as leaping high over others to catch the ball like the modern equivalent of AFL. A similar type of game was Boogalah, a game where a ball, made of sewn-up kangaroo skin, is thrown in the air. Celebrating NAIDOC Week #NAIDOC2020 #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe With acknowledgment, Thunderstone Aboriginal Cultural Services and the Ngunawal people, and Ngambri people as the traditional custodians of the Queanbeyan and surrounding regions.

Googong Dam, an earth and rockfill embankment dam on the Queanbeyan R...iver, is a water catchment area for the ACT region's water supply. It was inaugurated by Prince Charles on 27 March 1979. The water treatment plant and pumping station was completed in early 1980, and by August the dam was providing 35 per cent of Canberra's water. 06.01.2022 Always Was, Always Will Be Yerradhang Nguru, in the Aboriginal language of the Ngunawal people, means Gumtree Camp. It was a place to rest and stop for a while under the shade of a gumtree. Yerradhang Nguru is the name of the park on Aprasia Avenue (recognisable by its distinctive gumnut climbing structures) that is sometimes also known as Gumnut Park. Yellow Box is an attractive specimen tree and is excellent wildlife habitat, with nectar-rich flowers providing a valuable f...ood source for native insects, birds and mammals. Yellow Box is regarded as one of the best Australian trees for high quality honey production. Trees were important to the traditional custodians of the land known as the Ngunawal people. The bark was removed and used resulting in ‘scarring’ of the trunk. Traditional uses for the bark included: Coolamon (to hold water), collecting food and for carrying babies. Trees were also scarred to indicate entering or leaving a traditional custodians’ boundary, or to indicate the presence of a burial.
