25.01.2022 This Black-fronted Dotterel made its nest on a gravel track near one of our dams - cleverly camouflaging the eggs in the gravel (as they are known to do). A brave and very beautiful little bird! BirdLife Australia

25.01.2022 Merry Christmas everyone! This is Digby our new Jack Russell puppy from Meegan Seeds, she is just perfect, a real little character and just loves big sister Wiggles . We wish everyone a very happy & safe festive season (and some much needed rain!) for 2021

23.01.2022 Meet lucky little Phil ! A puggle Echidna rescued by a great Monto local last week, brought to Goondicum where he will be cared for and rehabilitated until he is strong enough and old enough to be released back into the bush.... to do what Echidnas do

15.01.2022 Monto is on its way to the Ekka 2019! This weekend was a "win-win" for Monto at the Burnett sub-chambers. Clare Webb won Burnett Miss Showgirl and Brianna Hockey won Burnett Rural Ambassador. Clare & Brianna competed against some amazing competitors from the Burnett Region (Bundaberg, Gayndah, Childers, Gin Gin, Mt Perry, Eidsvold, Munduberra, Teebar and Biggenden). We couldn't be prouder of these 2 amazing young women who displayed such a passion for agriculture, and are no...w headed to Brisbane to compete at the Ekka and represent our naturally beautiful Burnett region. And to all our city cousins in Brisbane and surrounds...please be sure to go and meet Clare & Brianna at the Ekka! 12.01.2022 Another Monto puggle arrived here last week for rehabilitation. His name is "Alex" and our wonderful vet, Dr Cameron Marbach, checked him out in between a busy day of bull testing. Thanks so much Cameron, for looking after all our creatures at Goondicum - big and small! . You're the best!

11.01.2022 This amazing Regent Bower Bird was spotted here at Goondicum last week while our guys were mustering! Our guys were lucky (and observant) enough to see the flash of yellow and black and managed to catch these photos. Thanks - good eyes Luke! This little guy had 3 females with him. . BirdLife Australia WildlifePhotography National Geographic Australia Apparently this species has given rise to one of the rarest birds in Australia a hybrid of the regent and satin species, which has only ever been photographed twice. 11.01.2022 Washing on the line? Who cares when it is finally raining. A nice and much needed shower here this afternoon. Just hoping everyone else who so desperately needs rain is going to get some soon.

10.01.2022 This is Harry, a 4 year old male Koala who has been released at Goondicum. He was rescued in the Monto area by our wonderful friends at Safe Haven - AACE who cared for him around the clock for 6 weeks. After a short stay with the team at Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors he received a clean bill of health for release! He is a big strong boy and we're hoping he will now be on the lookout for a Monto girlfriend....in case anyone in the area is interested, he is sporting a red coloured ear tag no. 3979.

09.01.2022 Exciting news - a big boost to the local town of Monto, thanks to Burnett Mary Regional Group for Natural Resource Management Goondicum is proud to be part of the consortium with BMRG and Alluvium Consulting on the Burnett River Water Quality Project - which is part of the the Morrison Government’s Reef Trust $6.1 million investment in our region - these works in our region will go on for 3 years and create boosts to our economy and environment. The first of these works are set to begin in the coming weeks. BMRG were very pleased to secure a local Monto contractor C & K Transport and Earthmoving to undertake these important earthworks for the region!

09.01.2022 Always good to keep some photos of the 'greener' times! The dry photo taken this week also shows the smokey haze we've had in our region recently. Good to look at the contrast and remember that once the rains arrive we know the land will respond quickly and we will see the green again!

09.01.2022 Another 'then' and 'now' shot.....dry pic was taken about 22 September 2019 and the greener pic was taken last week - after about 90mml rain here between then and now....nice to see the green respond so quickly and really hoping there is more rain still on the cards for everyone who needs it before the cool sets in.....

08.01.2022 Great to recently share our Brangus beef with Bundaberg locals and visitors to the region, and share our story about wildlife-friendly beef. It was cooked to perfection and served by Artisan Barbecue who link latin-american style cooking techniques with sustainably produced Australian food. These guys are amazing and add a whole new (and very tasty!) dimension to BBQ'ing! Australian Brangus Cattle Association The Australian Brangus

06.01.2022 Our new pup Linley is settling in really well. Here she is tailing our very quiet Brangus weaners, having fun and learning from her big sisters!

06.01.2022 This beautiful little Squirrel Glider came in for rehabilitation to Goondicum - weighing only 30gram when she arrived! With lots of around the clock TLC she has grown into a really strong animal ready for release. Check out our next post to see her marvellous progress. From everyone at Goondicum we thank Safe Haven - AACE for their guidance and 24/7 around the clock support for Australian Wildlife - they do an amazing job helping us to help wildlife!

04.01.2022 Then and now! Squirrel Glider who came to us as an orphan, at a mere 30gms. Regular 4hr feeds and lots of TLC later she is healthy and strong...she is ready & prepared to get back into the bush with her own!

04.01.2022 Thanks to The Australian Brangus for sharing this story with our fellow Brangus breeders! We were pleased to have the opportunity to share our story with The Australian and we hope it helps improve land management for the future. We'd also like to thank industry partners Burnett Mary Regional Group for Natural Resource Management and GreenCollar who help develop and support sustainable agriculture initiatives in our beautiful region!

04.01.2022 Congratulations to Robyn Yates from Tinana State School - the 'Sustainable Schools Network Teacher of the Year' for 2020. Great to see a teacher in our Wide Bay Burnett Fraser Coast win this award! Such an important role our QLD teachers play in engaging and educating students in sustainability. Tinana State School

03.01.2022 Goondicum is proud to be a supporter of the Monto Legends Shave. We know our blokes in Monto are built tough and compassionate...especially Gerry Morgan...a Monto icon and a great bloke who is helping to raise funds for men's health! In times of drought in this region we all know someone who is doing it tough - so if you can, get out there to Grand Hotel, Saturday night 30 Movember and support Gerry and mens' health! 02.01.2022 Another little winner! It's been 5 months or so since Phil the Echidna arrived at Goondicum as an orphaned puggle....today he is strong and healthy and will start to embark on a slow release back into the bush where he belongs! Here is short video of his journey over these last 5 months....

01.01.2022 Little Phil weighed about 380gm when he was rescued and brought to Goondicum for care....and last night he weighed in at just over 1kg! He is going well and loves his late lactation milk. (Echidnas dont have nipples, rather they secrete the milk from 'patches'. So this means we have to mimic how he would feed from mum, by gently squirting the milk onto Rob's palm so Phil can suck it up with his snout). Noisy eater!
