24.01.2022 Lets have a little competition! Half a plum pudding to the person who can correctly guess how many entries I have on the books at Noon tomorrow! This wont include QuickShear, woodchopping or the horses. PS: my feelings wont be hurt if you dont really want the pudding

23.01.2022 Expressions of Interest (EOI) for co-ordinating the Horse Section for goroke Show 2020. Full support given and guidelines. All enquiries to kristy boord

23.01.2022 Who else has started the count down? The weather forecast looks much kinder than last year - but you might want to pack a jacket. Lots of baking, glueing, drawing and building happening in this house. Only 7 sleeps to go (or 6 if youre a crazy secretary). Show Office is open every day this week but entries close at noon on Friday.... Remember if you are entering Junior Art it needs to be at the Pavilion by 1 on Friday.

22.01.2022 Id love to see some of these at the show! And remember there is a class for metal work too.

22.01.2022 Unfortunately due to the current Covid19 situation the Show Committee have had to make the decision not to run the 2020 Show in its traditional form. We left it as late as we could to make this decision and we are all disappointed that we cant commit to going ahead. Fingers crossed that later in the year we will be able to hold a community event in its place so that we can all catch up before the busy season starts.

22.01.2022 We regret to inform you all the the horse section of the goroke show has been postponed due to unsafe wet conditions ... we apologize for any inconvenience ... a date will be advised at a later time Please spread the word

22.01.2022 The Show Schedule is here! If you want a copy emailed let me know.

22.01.2022 For more information about the Goroke Shows horse events please visit our group. The horse program can be found pinned to the top of the newsfeed in the group. We hope you can all make it to the Goroke Showgrounds on Saturday for our program. Camping is available both Friday and Saturday nights. We do not however have yards or stables. Stables are available for hire at the Nhill Showgrounds that is nice and close to both Goroke and Kaniva. You can contact Stephen Purchase o...r myself about those. Fuel is available in Goroke, we also have a wonderful Supermarket. Food available to purchase...Breakfast of Bacon and Eggs will be awaiting your arival at Goroke, along with Lawries Coffee Van complete with donuts. Lunch will be BBQ of sausages. Cold drinks also available. For those with Family who are non-horsey we strongly encourage a trip down anyway. The West Wimmera lakes are brimming full at the moment and quite popular with campers, fisherman and those who enjoy a feed of yabbies. We also have an abunadance of wildlife, especially birds, in our little dessert that is sitting between Goroke and Kaniva. There are some stunning spots to visit with in our Shire. For more information about the Goroke Horse Program please contact Rebecca Sluggett on 0447 011 676 or Kristy Boord on 0417 361 269. For more info about Kaniva please contact Donna Burns on 0428 375 709. Remember; Goroke Saturday, Kaniva Sunday. Hope to see you in the West Wimmera! See more

10.01.2022 Its a little late but I just wanted to say the hugest thank you to Spotlight Horsham. Spotlight as a company sponsor many VAS sections at state level but Nicole from the Horshsm store also sponsors the Champion Craft exhibit at Goroke. The prize was a little late this year but definitely worth the wait!

04.01.2022 Apparently Show Day is hard work. Thanks to Michelle and Shetty for cooking tonight - no way was I going anywhere near the kitchen. Thanks to all that helped: the committee, the stewards, the gate keepers, the gophers, the tall people that I got to climb on benches for me.... Thank you to those who came. Last night at 9 when we were cancelling judges and hoping word had got out about the horses things didnt feel very positive. Thank you to our sponsors. All of you, big and small, are very much appreciated. This year we are aiming to capture the stories of our memorial trophies. If we dont start doing it we will begin to lose our knowledge and last night while writing certificates I had far too many I wonder moments. Thank you to the exhibitors. I can imagine getting sheep in would have been interesting and I know many of you had to don gummies to dig the potatoes. We had some new competitors this year - including little Anna Light making her pavilion debut and taking home her first placing. We also had some seasoned performers back again, its lovely to see the results of your years efforts. Thank you to our judges. Some of our sections were down in numbers but steady in quality. We couldnt have our day without you and we are lucky to have such an open and friendly group. I know every year I pick up more and more tips. Thank you to all our committee. I wont name you because Im so tired I will forget people (even when Im fully rested I forget people) but each and every one of you have a very important role. Its amazing when you get to the end of the day and realise how much happens without realising. Thank you to the Service Clubs and trade stands who fed and watered us today. An extra special thanks to the coffee van - the caffeine was very much needed. Thank you to the families who put up with us all year. Who run the errands, look after the kids/pets/house, listen to us when we ask while youre in town....? But mostly thank you to our community. Our show is for you. Its hard work but on the day when you see little people spellbound by the axemen, big people seeing a sheep shorn for the first time, little kids jumping in puddles and big kids hiding behind hay bales it makes all the hours worth it. We arent the biggest, we arent the fanciest but we are pretty damn good! If I have forgotten you Im sorry. My brain is so tired I could probably sleep on a chair at the footy club with no worries at all.
