24.01.2022 Today we will remember one of our own with a minutes silence before both games to mark the sad passing of Menacheme Duncan (Min). Min was many things to many people at the club from a Saturdays GK coach to a jnr coach the vets captain. but to us for a few years he was our GK and Coach as well as being an all round top bloke!!!! Today we will remember him but we will never forget him .RIP CHAMP

24.01.2022 Gozzy legends v Chelsea supporters team Sunday November 8th 1pm kick off Player Profile Dion Selby (the good cop)... The only player in the squad who won the Premier Division with Gosnells back in 1968. The feat is made even more impressive since the club wasn’t formed until 1969. Dion is a dynamic and gifted player and perhaps the most outrageous left winger to play for Gosnells aside from Kevin Nugent left to join in Antifa in 2016. A true Gossie legend Dion has played junior and senior football for Gosnells and coached successfully at Saturday and Sunday level. Away from football Dion is Perth’s top cop and single handedly tracked down the Claremont serial killer after 20 years this despite living across the road from him in the early 90s we still think it’s a top effort from our beloved cop. Whilst the years have taken their toll a touch, fans will look forward to seeing Dion pull on the Gosnells jersey this Sunday at Walter Padbury.

22.01.2022 THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN!!! Well after a 3 month covid related break the season gets underway for the mighty blues tomorrow away to Emerald FC at Fraser park . When asked about the new season coach Rooney said - its not been easy or a perfect situation and only having 2 weeks to round up lads and get them paid up registered has been tough gig ,but credit to them theyve got it done. ... We might not be fully fit but the lads have assured me they will knock the beers on the head at midnight Saturday instead of there usual 4am and come kick off I know the lads will give a 100% for the mighty blues!!!! 19.01.2022 Were coming home!!!!! Its no surprise that premier mark McGowan has eased restrictions and moved the state into phase 4 just in time for gosnells first home game this Sunday!!! The blues go into the game off the back of 9 straight wins and with an almost fully fit squad to pick from coach Rooney was in confident mood last night saying you dont win 9 straight games by luck were a good team and full of confidence we know Sunday wont be easy because peel are ...in similar form but my lads are up for the fight and want top spot So with all to play for we ask all gozzy supporters if possible to head down to cheer on the lads this Sunday to see if they can make in 10 out of 10 and go top!!!!! 14.01.2022 Gozzy legends v Chelsea supporters team Sunday November 8th 1pm kick off Player Profile Gilly ... If there’s been a murder on the dancefloor there’s only one real suspect at GCFC. Gilly has the moves like Jagger both on and off the field. A superstar for the Saturday team his swiveling hips caused many defenders to complain of twisted blood he made the transition to the Vets in latter years where he still causes havoc for opposition defenders. A die hard Liverpool fan although Warrington born .so supporters will be looking to see how he links up with Evertonian Rooney in a partnership reminiscent of Everton in 1991/92 with Gilly in the Peter Beardsley role and Rooney doing his best Peter Beagrie impression. Still a regular at Walter Padbury and currently the clubs second top international goal scorer with 6!!!ex-players will no doubt be looking forward to once again teaming up with the legend that is Gilly.

12.01.2022 Gozzy legends v Chelsea supporters Sunday November 8th 1pm kick off Player Profile - Anthony Maguire... Yet another one of the famed Maguire clan Anthony has spend most of his career at Gosnells with spells for the juniors, Saturdays and Amateurs. A mild mannered pharmacist by day and a tough tackling, no nonsense, centre half. Anthony took no prisoner whether it be on the field of play or on Mad Monday. Anthony also presided over coaching the Amateurs and displayed a keen mind for the coaching game before retiring to concentrate on his pharmaceutical empire. Whilst his father is known as a well dressed and dapper gentleman, Anthony has taken it upon himself to up the Ante (pun intended) with his own (and quite possibly with some spousal input) what could be deemed flamboyant flourishes. We can assure you we are looking forward to welcoming one of Gosnells most famous sons back to Walter Padbury but we’re not lying if we admit that perhaps we’re most looking forward to what he wears on the day.

With all junior teams from under 13s up to 16s in action throughout the morning leading up to both res and first team games theres more than enough to get your football fix this Sunday!!! 11.01.2022 GOZZY RUN RIOT IN LOCAL DERBY!!! Gosnells city FC- 5 ( Darbyshire 3) ( van de moosdyk )... ( cave ) Forrestfield UTD - 2 (Harold ) ( some flog ) ATT 126 On what was a balmy winters afternoon down at the home of football sir Walter padbury reserve the much anticipated local grudge match took place when ex gozzy Leg-end big mass and his merry men from Forrestfield utd rolled into to town. Forrestfield who came into the game unbeaten and top of the league were the bookies favourites but in the words of coach Rooney whos pre match jibe that forrie hadnt played anyone decent yet and today will be there toughest game proved to be right . When after just 60 seconds gozzy stormed forward gaining a free kick .stepping up to take it was Greg Darbyshire Rooneys big money summer signing Greg who scored the winner the previous week with a well stuck free kick carried on from were he left off curling this effort in. to put the blues up. But what was then a crazy 15 minutes with the game going end to end with both teams looking like they could score with every attack the game found itself at 2-2 after Darbyshire added his second a fine solo effort that had pace power and a cool finish, from then on it was gozzy who took control with attack after attack with the midfield trio of Potton parades and Taylor releasing the two speedy wingers the crazy scot Chris ODonnell and the all action Craig van de moosdyk. It was to be Craig who added the 3rd. after wasting a glorious chance minutes before he showed all his class by calmly slotting home for the blues. although coming into the game with a grade A hangover after spending the night with local celebrity Callum Kramer moosdyk in true gozzy Spirit shrugged it off and got on with the job. The 4th was a peach of a volley from the unstoppable Darbyshire who completed a first half hat-trick sending the blues in at half time 4-2 up. The second half was less of a goal fest as gozzy showed all there experience closing out any attacks from forrie with excellent defending and neat passing with gozzy adding a 5th of there own to totally seal the 3pts when fans favourite Liam (cavo) cave slotted home to make it 5-2!!! As for the reserves they continued there excellent recent form under coaches brenno and Lee making it 4 games unbeaten after a 2-0 win against forrie with goals from Harris himself and wonder kid 14yr old Blake Pritchard . the scoreline could of been more in the second half as gozzy had chance after chance but with the impressive Connor Griffiths In goal gozzy never looked like conceding so the points were safe capping off a great day for the mighty blues!!!

11.01.2022 PRE SEASON 2020!!!!! Thats right its almost that time of year again for the mighty blues with pre season kicking off Thursday 23rd of January with a light hearted kick about with the real work starting the week after. We spoke with coach Rooney who had this to say - ... Im looking forward to season 2020 after a few months off I feel fully recharged and ready for another season. I had time in between blackouts to reflect on last season and think we got a little to serious putting pressure on results pressure that really doesnt have to be there, so this year were going for the approach of previous years relax and enjoy it . lads play Sundays for a reason sure we want to win and play good football but our main aim is to enjoy our football and the banter Im sure if we do that the results will follow!!! 6-30 pm Thursday 23rd January Walter padbury

10.01.2022 Coach Profile Tony Maguire (GAFFA ) Another name that’s become synonymous with Gosnells over the years is Clan Maguire. The patriarch of the clan originating from Glasgow, Tony arrived at Gosnells as a tough tackling no nonsense centre midfielder with a big reputation. A true gentleman off the field whilst he pushed the boundaries with referees on the field. Tony has constantly leads the pack in the fashion stakes at Gosnells, a trait his son Anthony has taken on with... glee. Tony has left an indelible imprint on Gosnells City from his couple of successful stints at the Saturdays where he commanded utmost respect to winning leagues with the most talented vets team to ever play south of the river lately his role at the club has been to take care of Rooney on the Malaysian trips . The Gosnells Legends are very fortunate to call upon one of the most well respected coaches ever to set foot at Walter Padbury and look forward to witnessing another tactical masterclass from Tony Maguire.

So no training or games for the mighty blues. ... Coach Rooney would like to thank all players for there efforts and hard work in pre Season so far and hopes that were back to normal come the middle of April until then hell be in lock down at Lakers tavern... 07.01.2022 CHEERIO BONNY LAD!!! News out of gosnells that assistant coach and all round nice man brian Marshall has stepped down from his duties for season 2020 has been greeted with a touch of sadness. The 69 year old Mackam has decided to step away from his duties this year to concentrate on his golf and also to try find a cure for gout. Brian had this to say - ahh why aye its sad to leave the lads but I think its the right time , Im proud of the last few years how far the lad...s have come from divvy 3 to a competitive div one team . the future is in good hands with new ressies coaches brenno an Harris with Rooney steering the first team, Ill still be down to cheer on the lads and head Lakers after games (to help Rooney into his Uber late Sunday nights )on the odd occasion!!!!! Everyone at the mighty GCFC players,coaches, pissheads would like to thank Brian for his time and wish him all the best .

04.01.2022 GOZZY THRILL AGAINST THE VILLA!!!! Gosnells city FC - 4 (Darbyshire 2) ( Taylor)... (Bozkurt) V Belmont villa FC. - 0 ATT 84 On what can only be described as spring like conditions gozzy took on Belmont villa down at the home of football sir Walter padbury res on Sunday afternoon and it was gosnells who had a spring in there step coming into the game off the back of 7 straight wins also returning from two weeks on the road in there mini hub they were keen to put on a show for the gozzy faithful. Going into the game coach Rooney again had to shuffle his pack losing the hard working Mitch (20 tackles a game ) holyoak to suspension along with jimmy (the cop) Capewell who was off defending the boarders . In coming would be the all action Craig van de moosdyk and veteran sam (wombat ) Magurie . The gosnells city Sunday amateur record of 8 straight wins was up for grabs a feat that hadnt been achieved since the glory days way back in 1993 when the likes of Claxton, Selby , gilfoyle graced the fields of Walter padbury a few of the old faces where there to see if the current crop could live up to those glory days and live up to it they did with gozzy dominating from the start to finish in a one sided game. Within the first 5 minutes the blues took the lead when the goal machine big Greg Darbyshire latched on to a through ball slotting it past the villa keeper gozzy should of added more but were wasteful in front of goal .it wasnt till the 40th minute when the in form Sean Taylor added the second with a sweetly struck volley to put the blues up 2-0 at the HT break. The second half was much the same with gozzy playing pass and move football creating chance after chance that started at the back with the reliable back four of Pomfret,cavo ,Maguire and ODonnell the 3rd goal was again the main man Darbyshire with what now is becoming a trade mark free kick curling in past the hapless keeper. The dangerous Muslum bozkurt whod threatened all day finally managed to stay on side to add the blues 4th. the last 15 minutes gozzy created 4-5 clear chances with Darbyshire going close to securing his 3rd hat trick of the season but it wasnt to be with the blues running out 4-0 winners. In fact the biggest shock of the day was when coach Rooney stuck to his word laying on the beers for the lads with his first round since 2006!! As for the ressies they unfortunately went down to a in form Belmont villa who came into the game top of the table . The ressies missing a few key players through injury or moving up to first team put up a galant fight but were over run in the second half going down 4-1 on the day with young paddy getting the blues conciliation goal.

02.01.2022 GOZZY SHINE ON MAIN PITCH!!! Gosnells city FC - 3 ( Darbyshire 2) ( van de moosdyk )... V South Perth UTD FC -2 ( Benson ) ( Hedges ) ATT 101 (Plus Levi the dog ) On a wet and windy winters afternoon the mighty blues made it 5 wins on the bounce against a spirited south Perth utd team down at the home of football sir Walter padbury res. With the wild weather predicted earlier in the week coach Rooney did look into moving the fixture to a Friday night blockbuster but the North Korean like president of gosnells Kim Jong Nickisson put a stop to it demanding a curfew on all night games!!! In the lead up to the game coach Rooney was dealt a blow losing key defender Andy pomfret to injury. In coming would be young George Driscoll who had just returned from year 10 camp to slot in making it only one change from last weeks emphatic win. The first half was to be all gosnells as they dominated possession with slick pass and move football duly taking the lead in the 20th minute when after some nice play the ball fell to the all action winger Craig van de moosdyk who slotted home to put the blues up 1-0 a lead they would take into the half time break. The second half the blues asserted there authority by adding two quick goals seemingly killing off the game both goals came from the in form goal machine big Greg Darbyshire who has now scored 7 goals in his last 3 outings . His first a finely taken penalty the second after some great work from the crazy scot Chris ODonnell who ran through 4or5 players before cutting a ball back for Darbyshires second . But with gozzy cruising to victory there was to be a twist when in the last 10 minutes south Perth first got a goal against the run of play then a soft penalty giving the blues a nervous end to the game but with the solid back four and the engine room of paredes,holyoak and seany.T stepping back up the gears there was no way through giving there blues the points keeping them just a point off top!!! As for the ressies they were banished to pitch B after the club decided to give the class of 1983 the over 50s the main pitch add to that they found themselves on the end of some strange decisions from the officials, after taking the lead through a muzzy goal they found themselves 1-3 down but In a spirited come back clawed it back to 3-3 after goals from Matty cave (top bins ) and young Dylan seemingly grabbing a share of the points but in a cruel blow south Perth grabbed the winner with literally the last kick of the game running out 4-3 winners !!!!
