25.01.2022 Thank you to all who have joined this week. It's been a busy week or so. To those that are still thinking about it. Do you want to be part of the solution to YOUR industry? Do YOU think the prizemoney on offer after reading the information we've provided over the past week is acceptable based on the GRV spend? ... Do YOU think that 42.9% return to YOU THE PARTICIPANTS, is acceptable? I hope not! I don't! And I don't really train for other people. I need one win per month to cover costs of my few dogs (including retirees that I have) and all I can say, it has been a dry dry month. I know I am certainly not alone, coming into Christmas. Sooooooo please join. You can pay direct into the bank account. If you could ensure you put your surname so we know who has paid. A double is $100 and single is $60 for 5 years. 17.01.2022 GRV's annual report is out... Here are our thoughts on these figures. What do you think? More to come throughout the day!!!
16.01.2022 I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas The one thing that is continuously being spoken about at the track amongst participants is... Prizemoney or lack thereof, it's getting harder and harder to train dogs in Victoria due to lack of sufficient prizemoney, we're highly regulated which costs money yet not rewarded sufficiently in prizemoney. Do you recall our posts a couple of weeks ago, a lot of wastage within GRV itself however.... So what are you going to do about it? Just whinge and hope it changes? OR do something!!! Numbers numbers numbers, I'll say it again. Join, the more members we have the more the GRV MUST listen to us.. You can pay direct into the bank account. If you could ensure you put your surname so we know who has paid. It is $100 a double or $60 a single for a 5 year membership. 15.01.2022 GOTBA Vic's POSITIONS, PRIORITIES AND CURRENT ACTIVITY We care about participants and their greyhounds. Our priorities and key positions on industry issues that matter are here - https://gotbav.org.au/news/10232441 . Take a look. Our biggest issue is prizemoney inequity - you need a fair share for the work you put in, and in Victoria you are getting an ever lower % of revenue generated by your hard work. You're getting severely shortchanged. We have been working behind th...e scenes on this, and will have more to say shortly. Additionally, the Committee is currently reviewing proposed changes to Greyhounds Australasia Rules and will have comments in the near future.
14.01.2022 Congratulations to our vice president Robert Britton for winning the Sydney Cup Final tonight with Here's Tears.

06.01.2022 Congratulations to David Burnett and Simon Told Helen for winning last night's Geelong Gold Cup. https://fasttrack.grv.org.au/RaceVideo/RaceVideo/601852380
05.01.2022 INCREASED NUMBER OF RACES PER MEETING - THOUGHTS GRV has announced that some Vic race meetings may become 13 races later this year - see https://www.grv.org.au//13-card-race-meetings-just-around/ GOTBA Vic has concerns that this leads to extended time in kennels for greyhounds, and race programs that are becoming too long. A round trip to the races and back, in race 13, or if swabbed after the last, could be a very long day or night. We are concerned there are people wel...fare issues with it. And no change to starter fees is proposed. What do you think?
04.01.2022 Thinking about public perception... When I'm using our local public slipping track I always try to make an effort to speak to the people there who have our retired dogs, have a pat, or simply just a "good morning". I feel this is important because there are groups out there who make us out to be "monsters", and a smile and a good morning to the people who take care of our greyhounds in the next step of its life in retirement, could be enough to put some doubt about what an...d who we are as an industry. I know for a fact that this works, as I've met a lady who was kind of anti racing, she's come to my kennels, seen the dogs, understands how they're looked after... And now she can't wait for the tracks to open up to the public and her and a couple of friends will be coming for a night out at the dogs. Changing views one step at a time is our responsibility as an industry. Just my musings for the day!
04.01.2022 An article worth reading and sharing....
04.01.2022 13 RACES - ON MONDAY MORNING, WARRNAMBOOL Monday sees Victoria’s 1st 13 race program. Tier 3. Extra race, extra time in kennels, no change to starter fee arrangements, and, knock us over with a feather, the cheapest program extension that GRV could possibly do. ... And, of course, an announcement that GRV is again ‘excited‘ about this: by minimising payment to participants, it can fund ballooning expenses, such as its recently reported employee wage bill of more than $25m annually. And Saturday’s Cranbourne meeting - 12 races - is 4 hours long. The concept of 13 races could be ok, but this is not a welfare positive - human or dog - way of doing it. https://www.grv.org.au//warrnambool-to-host-victorias-fir/
03.01.2022 AGM RESULTS AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS - 2020 Congratulations to Carly Feltham, Gayle Osborne, Noel McMahon, Aaron Campbell, Greg Doyle and Sean Lithgow who were elected to the Committee by members at the AGM. They join (or re-join) Lynton Hogan, Rob Britton, Jason Sharp and Stan Ralph as committee members for the upcoming year.... A brief note to this effect is on our website, together with a copy of my President's Report - https://gotbav.org.au/news/9396026
