14.01.2022 Residents looking to drop off bulky cardboard and co-mingled recyclables outside of their usual domestic yellow bin service will now need to do so at Council’s Waste Management Centres following last week’s Council meeting. Council agreed to a contract variation requested by Endeavour Industries to remove the requirement to provide a drop off point for residents to dispose of their recycling. This was removed due to the limited area available on the Endeavour site for the con...struction of a purpose built, safe drop off point for residents away from the machinery and truck movements that are ongoing in the Endeavour Yard. There has also been ongoing issues with continued dumping of waste received with recycling left at Endeavour Industries. These waste streams are accepted at all of Council’s Waste Management Centres on an ongoing basis. The current cost for residents to dispose of cardboard or co-mingled recyclables only at Council’s waste centres is the nominal fee of $6 for a trailer load. Further detail: http://bit.ly/2WE85hq

05.01.2022 CBD Enhancement Works Continue Following the installation of upgraded median strips in Auburn Street at the end of 2020, Council is currently trialling a synthetic turf surface to further enhance the look and feel of our main street. Turf has been laid in the block from Market Street to Montague Street in Auburn Street. Should the turf prove to be appropriate for purpose more turf is intended to be laid in the coming months. This is part of Council’s strategy of ensuring that there is less evidence of concrete in our CBD and the green grass has the benefit of softening the aesthetics and generally cooling the main street.

02.01.2022 Council is aware of issues with discoloured water at Marulan, and has been working to reduce this for a number of days. The colour issues have predominantly been caused by the recent rain events and flooding. A flushing program is also being undertaken to remove coloured water already in the water mains. Our tests over the last 24 hours have seen greatly improved water colour and we expect it to continue to improve for residents.

01.01.2022 Council is aware of speed limit changes that have been implemented on Hume Street. A speed limit change on Hume Street, which is a State Road administered by Transport for NSW, was not proposed when Council first signed off on the pop-up cycle lane project last year. When the funding was received in November there were changes to the project, which included imposing a 50km/h speed limit in this section. ... The cycle lane in Hume Street is not being used adequately enough to warrant retaining. This was always a temporary project, but in light of these circumstances we will be removing the cycle lane barriers, and the speed limit will be returned to 60km/h in the near future.
