25.01.2022 Goulburn's Matilda Barrington has set off on a trip of a lifetime as part of a Rotary Youth Exchange program. Trinity Catholic College student Matilda will call Harrisburg, Pennsylvania home for the next 12 months. Matilda has been sponsored by the Rotary Club of Goulburn, which has a strong commitment to the Youth Exchange Program. The club is currently hosting Belgian student Sybil Collins, and two outbound students, Emily Craig and Kiara Beard, have just returned from thei...r year away in France and Belgium, respectively. As part of her year away, Matilda will attend the local high school and immerse herself in Pennsylvanian life. During her exchange, Matilda will learn a lot about the culture of her adopted host families, life in a foreign country, and - more importantly - a lot about herself. At a special presentation at the Civic Centre council chambers recently, Goulburn Mulwaree Mayor Geoff Kettle wished Matilda a safe passage and presented her with Goulburn Australia lapel pins, scarfs and ties for her hosting family and hosting Rotarians. For more information about the Rotary Youth Exchange Program, go to ryea.org.au Good luck, Tilly! The photo shows Goulburn Mulwaree councillor and Rotarian Carol James, inbound Belgian exchange student Sybil Collins , Rotarian Alex Oliver, outbound exchange student Matilda Barrington and Mayor Geoff Kettle at a morning tea recently.
25.01.2022 It's market day again in Goulburn! Come on down to Montague St and grab some great bargains. It's also a top spot to watch the Convoy for Kids roll through town later this morning too. While you're down here, don't miss your chance to have your photo taken with our Christmas board, like our members Ian and Jock here.
24.01.2022 On Tuesdays and Thursdays over the past couple of years, our Club has gathered at North Goulburn Public School to run the breakfast club. We've buttered countless slices of toast, cut up what seems like tons of fruit, and poured a seemingly endless number of bowls of cereal in that time. And it's been one of the most satisfying experiences our club has undertaken. Today, we continued our Rotary commitment to the school, with another donation for $2000 for next year's breakfast club. The money is from some of the proceeds from our monthly markets. Pictured here is club president Neil Penning and Principal Leonie.
23.01.2022 They're not the Fab Four, but these t'riffic two from the Goulburn Regional Conservatorium are just some of the brilliant musical acts playing at the Parkside Markets this morning. We have some wonderfully talented young musicians in Goulburn and surrounds, and we love letting these young artists showcase their talents.
22.01.2022 And our Club has been around for 86 of those years! #ServiceAboveSelf
21.01.2022 It's a massive day for Goulburn Rotary. It's our final markets for 2015, and what a sensational day for it too. Come on down to Montague St and snare some great bargains in time for Christmas. While you're there, if you're a green thumb, make sure you check out the Growing Abilities stall, which is selling tube stock and agapanthus. Our Club has a very proud association with Growing Abilities, which provides people with disabilities in the Goulburn area with horticultural ski...lls and training. Our friends from Soroptimists are also at the markets selling Christmas tree stands - perfect for real Christmas trees this festive season. Away from the markets, our raffle in Goulburn Plaza continues. Tickets are $3 and prizes include a box trailer full of goodies, a Laz-E-Boy recliner, and five nights accommodation on the Gold Coast. Come and find us opposite Dick Smith in the Plaza. See more
19.01.2022 THERE was a huge turnout to the Goulburn Classic Riders' swap meet at the weekend, and without a doubt one of the most popular stalls was the Rotary Club of Goulburn's barbecue. Rotarians fired up the hotplate just after 6am, and over the next few hours sold out 55 dozen eggs, stacks of steak, mountains of sausages. piles of bacon and pallet after pallet of breadrolls. The $2 tea and coffee also proved very popular with the punters. It was a big weekend for the Rotary Club, with many of the Rotarians backing up after working at the Goulburn Speedway or the Swap Meet on Saturday night.
18.01.2022 Our Christmas raffle has just been drawn, and the lucky winner of the box trailer full of goodies (valued at $2,000, including the trailer) is... June Lang! Well done, June. Our second prize, a Laz-E-Boy recliner kindly donated by John Craig Furniture One, valued at $1,000, is... Angella Storrier! Well done, Angella. Our third prize, five nights accommodation on the Gold Coast, kindly donated by Goulburn Post, is... Colleen Brown! Well done, Colleen. ... Thank you very much to these ladies, and everyone who bought a ticket in our raffle. Your support enables us to undertake projects both locally and overseas. The Rotary Club of Goulburn wishes everyone a very safe and merry Christmas, and a very prosperous new year. Our photo shows Natalie from Goulburn Plaza drawing out June's winning ticket, along with raffle organiser Jock Robertson.
18.01.2022 Ian Radford is a long-time member of our club - and this is deserved recognition. Well done, Ian!
16.01.2022 Good morning everyone! It is a sensational morning here in down town Goulburn, and it's even better at our Parkside Markets. For fans of locally grown and produced goods, we've got something for you. Come on down and check out some of our brilliant local stall holders who have some fantastic wares to sell. If you're a bit peckish after a big night at the Blues Festival, swing by the barbecue being run by Relay for Life, and grab a coffee too. Don't forget that tomorrow is Valentine's Day - we've got a flower stall here that sells some wonderful blooms.
14.01.2022 Will be a big weekend in Goulburn next week. Looking forward to seeing everyone down town.
10.01.2022 It's the final weekend shopping before Christmas (where has the year gone?!), so if you're in Goulburn Plaza, make sure you nip over and buy a ticket for the Rotary Christmas Raffle, located just outside Kmart. 04.01.2022 Cranky Koala is a long-time and passionate environmental advocate. He and his alter ego, Mark Selmes, spoke at last night’s meeting, telling members about some of the causes he’s been involved in over the years. From hunger strikes outside state parliament in Macquarie St, to handcuffing himself to logging trucks, Cranky has stood up for his environment. Cranky (and Mark) live at Mt Rae, just outside of Goulburn, and have long pushed for the area’s forest to be protected from logging. Cranky is also the subject of a new short film, which has screened at the Flickerfest film festival.
