I get them to fill out the questionnaire, and surely enough they tick so many boxes! Im currently awaiting for a few clients test results to come back. What is Pyroluria? Pyrolles are a normal breakdown of hemoglobin, a molecule that carries oxygen in your blood. When pyrolles are excreted from the body they bind with two nutri...ents that are essential to mental health- B6 and zinc. Individuals with a genetic abnormality that causes elevated levels of pyrolles will become relatively deficient in zinc and b6 as they are excreted in the urine before the body has the ability to absorb them. The combined deficiency of zinc and b6 have a big impact on brain function as well as the immune system. They are also important for maintaining intellectual function, mood and memory. Pyrolles also keep omega 6 (gamma-linolenic acid GLA) from supporting brain function, as well as normal growth and development- hence the importance of needing to supplement this. GLA is also critical in regulating metabolism, maintaining the reproductive system, skin and hair growth as well as maintaining bone health. It’s not something that mainstream medicine looks into so it is often the big missing link for so many individuals. Those that are chronically fatigued for no reason, have poor skin, anxiety, depression, the list goes on.... So let’s talk copper. Copper is needed by the body however large amounts become an issue on so many aspects. This becomes more of an issue when zinc and copper levels are imbalanced as they act like brother and sister. Don’t always get along but will tolerate each other when their levels are equal. -excess copper is seen predominantly in women as oestrogen has an effect in retaining copper in the body. More oestrogen; more copper. Heavy periods, endometriosis and other other oestrogen related issues: check copper levels!! -post natal depression? Check copper levels! Copper levels usually drop within 24hours after delivery of the baby however studies show that women with post natal depression don’t have this drop. (Copper levels double in pregnancy as it’s needed for producing red blood cells and blood vessels for the baby). So those that don’t get this drop; have twice as much as what they had before. Did your symptoms start after pregnancy? Here’s your clue. -High copper increases inflammation; meaning it will make whatever your symptoms are worse. If you have headaches, your headaches will be worse. If you have eczema, your eczema will get worse etc. It reduces progesterone levels in your luteal phase (hello infertility, endometriosis, spotting), it blocks zinc and iron absorption. Really struggling with ongoing iron issues despite supplementing and eating well? Check copper! -since it blocks zinc absorption; digestive health is effected. Zinc is needed to make stomach acid to break down all the food you eat. If you don’t have enough acid; expect digestive symptoms. Bloating? Constipation? Loose bowels? Increase fibre through fresh vegetables and whole foods. Increase anti-inflammatory foods and omegas; more nuts, seeds, avocado, oily fish, chia seeds, hemp seeds, flaxseeds 2. HORMONES!!! Address endocrine imbalances; PCOS, Cushings syndrome, androgen secreting tumours, hyperinsulinemia. Lots of magical herbs can be used here to help decrease elevated testosterone levels and reduce insulin! 3. GUT and LIVER!!! Time to make sure both these bad boys are working at their best 4. SKINCARE!!! Chemical laden beauty products disrupt the PH of the skins microbiome. Chuck out all those harsh cleansers and moisturisers and opt for a natural oil instead. 5. MINIMISE STRESS!!! Did you know that we have cortisol and neurotransmitter receptors on our skin??! What does this mean? Not dealing with your stress can reflect externally. Whose skin has been worse since the fires and covid? 6. SUPPLEMENTS and HERBS!!! There is SO much support that can be given to shimmy your skin back into place. You are well and truely keeping me busy!! There is the odd gap before then for a new childs consultation (I think 1-2 spots) and a few sparse available appointments for follow up clients....
