23.01.2022 This will be fantastic opportunity

22.01.2022 Created with by @venturing_victoria with the comment I have always loved visiting Port Albert and have fond memories as a child spending school holidays in ...the sunshine at Venus Bay and making the just over an hour trip to Port Albert to not only explore it’s beautiful coastal city but to feast on their delicious fish and chips. When I think of fish and chips, Port Albert is the first thing I think of. We still visit fairly often and always stop in for lunch. Port Albert is a charming seaside town located in Central Gippsland approximately 3 hours drive from Melbourne CBD, visiting Victoria's first established port is well worth every second of the drive. Port Albert is still to this day a commercial port and also entices many recreational anglers to spend the day fishing along the wharf where Wilson’s Promontory can be seen in the distance. The Christopher Robinson Trail starts at the wharf and is about 5.5km to Seabank, and offers beautiful views of the Nooramunga Marine and Coastal Park. We enjoyed doing a section of this walk last time before we had to turn back due to being time poor. We will certainly finish it next time as I would love to see the views of the other end of the trail. There are quite a lot of fabulous places to stay in the area, so staying overnight may be a good option to see more of this beautiful destination. I can’t wait to get back here, hopefully we can during Summer. Check out @venturing_victoria for other great locations too. #wandergippsland #portalbert #tarraterritory #visitcentralgippsland #lovegippsland #visitgippsland

22.01.2022 Dreaming of your next charming seaside getaway? Then you will want to add Port Albert to your Gippsland bucket list for when the time is right for you to travel... again! Located in central Gippsland, Port Albert is a place of tranquillity that nourishes the soul. Soak up seaside serenity, quaint heritage buildings and stunning coastal views, as you wander and explore this charming Gippsland town. The town’s centrepiece is the Port Albert Wharf, an idyllic spot to lap up the views across a shimmering ocean or to enjoy some local fish and chips! If you would prefer to catch your own, drop a line from the wharf or head a little further up Ninety Mile Beach for some of the best surf fishing in Victoria. 03.01.2022 Yarram Golf Club has been around since 1909. But it wasn’t until the end of 1927 that forward-thinking committee members spent 5000 pounds to lease the parcel o...f land which would later become an important asset for Yarram and the surrounding districts. The land was covered with bush, but those club members were determined to transform it into one of the best golf courses in Gippsland. With a lot of hard work and pooling of resources - supplying horses, harrows, hay rakes, fern hooks and anything else that was required - they achieved their dream. Eighty years on and volunteers are still whipping the course into shape. For a time, the club did employ ground keepers, but for one reason or another, it didn't work out. So since 2002, Yarram Golf Course has been nurtured by club members who give their time a few times each week to cut the fairways, roll the greens and do all the other jobs required to keep the course in tip-top shape. These days, the volunteers have the luxury of irrigation to keep their sand belt course lush and green and the club continues to thrive. The course, too, has prospered and grown: it looks a million dollars and golfers travel hundreds of kilometres to play on it. Yarram was named the number one volunteer-run course in Australia in 2006 - an achievement of which the club is immensely proud. So to the volunteers who work so tirelessly at Yarram Golf Course and the many others like them across our region, I say thank-you. #lovegippsland
